Before unpacking the ProScribe , prepare a suitable workspace. You need a stable and level surface near a grounded wall outlet in an area that is relatively free of glare from sunlight or other sources of bright light.
WhileunpackingtheProScribe,inspectitandotherpackagecontentsforshippingdamagethatcouldcauseafireorshockhazard.Immediatelyreportanyshippingdamagetothecarrierortransportationcompanyandcontactcustomerserviceforassistance.Keepallpackingmaterialincaseyouneedtoship,storeorreturnthemonitor.

CAUTION: When moving the PAD from a cold place to a warm one, or viceversa, moisture may condense inside of the PAD or Cradle. Should this occur, the devices may not operate properly. In such a case an adequate recovery time is necessary to allow the moisture evaporate (abaut 1hr).

6.2.0 GETTINGSTARTED TheWindowsXPembeddedoperatingsystemprovidesyoualltheconveniencetoset-upanytypeofthin-clientsession withcentrallylocatedapplicationsorweb-basedservices.Beforedoingso,pleasemakesuretoapplythefollowing instructions.
IMPORTANT NOTICE :
Writeprotect TheProScribeispre-configuredwithaWindowsXPefeaturecalledEnhancedWriteFilter(EWF)toprevent writingontheCFcard.Whenwriteprotectionisactivated,allrecentlyinstalledsoftwareproductsandchanged usersettingsarenotstoredintotheCFandhenceareremovedafterareboot.Theproceduretosavesuchdatain theCFcardisdescribedhereunder.Itisstronglyadvisedtore-enableEWFafterdisablingitforstoringuserdata. EWFprotectstheOSbutalsotheCFcarditself.
Procedure to disable EWF
•press“start”buttonthen“Run...”andtype“ewfd” •theProScribewilllogoutandrebootautomatically •nowtheCFiswriteenable,sothemodificationarereallystoredintotheCFcard,meaningthatmodifications willberetainedonreboot. •afterapplyingthedesiredmodifications,enabletheEWF.
