System requirements • Central Processing Unit (CPU): Pentium 4, frequency - 1GHz or higher;• The random-access memory (RAM) of 128 Mb or higher;• Operating system (OS): Windows XP Windows 2000, Windows Vista 32 bits, or Mac OS 10.4. and higher;• Universal serial bus (USB)of modem interface;• Free space on the hard disc should be no less than 50 Mb.• The display resolution should be 800x600 or higher (1024x768 is recommended).

Note to the system requirements:• Improper configuration of the system may worsen the work effectiveness of your computer with the modem.• It is recommended to install the updating package Service Pack 2 or higher for Windows XP operating system.• It is recommended to install the updating package Service Pack 4 or higher for Win dows 2000 operating system.

Data transfer rate indicatorsThe data transfer rate when using GPRS technology is from 14.4 Kbit/sec up to 115 Kbit/sec. EDGE technology ensures the data transfer rate up to 384 Kbit/sec. The data transfer rate depends on remoteness of the base station, loading of data transfer channels, voice channels, building density, wall materials and weather conditions. On average, in the pro-cess of using the Beeline USB-modem set, the data transfer rate may reach 200 Kbit/sec.“Data transfer rate indicators are not the basis for return of the USB-modem set.”

SIM-card installationTake the holder frame of the SIM-card out of the modem. Then insert the Beeline SIM-card into the holder frame as shown in the Figure. Make sure that the SIM-card fits right. After that, insert the SIM-card holder frame into the modem.

Connection of the modem to the computerConnect the modem USB-connector to any free USB-port of the computer.

Software installationBeeline USB-modem application’s installation will soon start automatically. In order to successfully complete the installation, please follow the tips and do not break the con-nection of the modem with the computer. If the Beeline USB-modem application’s installation does not start automatically, then install it manually:

1. Open the window “My computer” by double clicking on the icon “My Computer” on the desktop. If there is no icon “My Computer” on the desktop, please click on “Start” in the left lower corner of the screen and find the icon “My Computer” in the pop-up menu. .2. Open the disc named Beeline in the window “My computer”.3. Find AutoRun.exe file in the opened window and run it. 4. After that follow the tips of the installation program and do not break the connection of the modem with the computer.

Software startNow you can connect to the Internet network using the «Beeline USB-modem» application. Open the application using the icon located on your computer’s desktop: double click on it with the left button of your mouse and select the «Connection» section . During the first installation of the modem, a message that is necessary to activate your SIM-card will appear if you use it for the first time. In order to activate the SIM-card, click on the «Activate» key in the pop-up window. Then click on the «Connect» button. In a few seconds you computer will be connected to the Internet.

Work in the InternetOn your computer’s desktop, find the browser icon (usually, it is Internet Explorer denoted by sign ), double click on it with the left button of your mouse, after that enter the address of the Internet site you need in the field “Address”. For example, www.beeline.kg. To leave the Internet, click on the «Disconnect» key in the «Connection» section in the «Beeline USB-modem» application.

Extraction of the USB-modem 1. Close down the «Beeline USB-modem» software.2. Then double click on in the message area. The dialog box «Safely remove hardware» will appear. 3. Select the needed device and then click on «Stop». 4. When the message «The device may be safely removed», take the modem out of the USB port.

Software deletionOpen the menu Start> select the Control Panel > then click on the Add or Remove Programs> find the Beeline USB-modem program and click on «Remove» in order to uninstall the program product applications.Note:• Before removing the product software, exit it.• After removal of the application, restart the computer and re-install the application.

Recommendations on operating the modem• Always handle the modem with care, keep it in places free of dirt and dust. Do not expose the modem to open flame or burning tobacco products. • Always keep the modem dry.• Do not drop the modem, do not throw it and do not try to bend or curve it.• Do not scratch the modem and do not coat it with paint.• Do not try to disassemble the modem. If this requirement is violated, the quality warranty of the device will be annulled. Only the authorized personnel has the right to do it.• Keep the minimum distance at 1.5 cm from your body when the modem is working.• Keep the modem at a normal temperature. The modem can work only at the following temperatures: from - 5°C to +55°C. • Use the approved accessories only. Do not connect the modem to incompatible devices.

Work in the Internet• Do not use the modem in places where it is unsafe to use it or where its use is prohibited.• To disconnect the modem, first close all applications which use the modem, and then disconnect the modem from the computer. • When using the modem, please comply with all local laws, instructions, guidelines, regulations, orders, signs and notes. It is also necessary to follow the requirements of signs related to use of mobile telephones, since they refer to other wireless equipment including wireless communication devices. • Disable the modem in places where the atmosphere is potentially explosive. This happens very rarely, but a computer can generate sparks. • Disable the modem in places where demolitions are carried out. At construction sites, they often use radio-controlled remote control devices for demolitions.

• Disable the modem on board the aircraft. Wireless devices can cause interferences with the aircraft equipment work.• Disable the modem in medical institutions.• Comply with the instructions and regulations of medical institutions. Disable themo dem when you are near a medical institution. Wireless devices can cause interferences with the work of heart pacemakers, implanted defibrillators and other medical equip ment.• Disable the modem near hearing aid devices. People using hearing aid devices may be exposed to interferences near wireless communication devices. • DO NOT ALLOW children to play with the modem. They can hurt themselves or other people or accidentally damage the modem. The modem contains small parts with sharp edges; one can get hurt or suffocate.• Do not use the modem while driving a car.• The modem is insensitive to interferences caused by sound signals.

Troubleshooting

Fault (sign) Possible cause Possible solution

The indicator does not glow in the modem.

Check whether the modem is property connected to the USB port. If the modem does not work, try to connect it to another USB port.

Bring the modem to the better reception area (for instance, to the window). Use the exten-sion cord.

Disconnect the modem from the computer. Install a Beeline SIM-card into the modem and connect the modem to the computer.

«Beeline USB-modem» application was installed incorrectly.

Conflicts with other programs.

Computer’s wrong USB port for connection of the USB-modem.

It is necessary to uninstall the incorrectly installed application and re-install it:- open the menu «Start», - then, the menu «Settings»- after that, the «Control Panel»,- then the «Add or Remove Programs», - select the «Beeline USB-mo dem» in the opened window and click on «Uninstall».After that follow the computer’s instructions and tips.If it turns out to be impossible to uninstall the program ac-cording to such a scheme, then read about the action proce-dure in the instruction to your computer or use the hotline support of the manufacturer of the operating system installed in your computer.After removal of the applica-tion, restart the computer and re-install the application.

For connection disable or unin-stall other programs, which can connect with the modem.

Connect the modem with the port, with which it was con-nected during installation of the «Beeline USB-modem» application.

The modem will not work with a Micro SD memory card.

I cannot use the func-tions of the «Account Management» section («Account Checkup», «Payment Card Activa-tion», etc.)

The modem is connected with the Internet.

An inappropriate Micro SD memory card is used.

Indicators are glowing but I cannot access the Internet.

The modem functions unstably.

Insufficient sum of money on the account balance.

The SIM-card is not activated.

The «Beeline USB-modem» application is installed incorrectly or an outside software is used.

A SIM-card other than that one included in the «Beeline USB-modem» connection package is used.

It is necessary to disconnect from the Internet by clicking on the «Disconnect» key in the «Connection» section. After that try to use the func-tion your need in the«Account Management» section.

The modem can work only with those memory cards whose volume is no more than 4 Gigabytes.

Check up the amount on your account and if the money is insufficient, then refill the balance.

If you use the SIM-card for the first time, it is necessary to activate it. In order to activate the SIM-card, please go to the «Account Management» section -> «Service Management» -> «SIM-card Activation» and click on the «Activate» key.

It is necessary to re-install the «Beeline USB-modem» applica-tion. Joint action of the SIM-card, the «Beeline USB-modem» application and the modem in-cluded in the connection package is guaranteed.

To access the Internet, please use the standard capabilities of your operating system.

Modem Cleaning and Maintenance

• Before cleaning and maintenance of the modem, please close all applications working with the device and disconnect the modem from the computer.• Clean the modem with the help of soft antistatic cloth.• If the modem or any of its accessories does not work, please call an authorized mainte nance center for help.

Environment Protection

Comply with the local rules of utilization of package materials, old wireless devices and their accessories. Please promote their recycling.

SIM-Card Protection

Take all precautions to prevent electrostatic discharges when you insert or take out the SIM-card. Do not touch the SIM-card contacts. As a precaution measure, first hold the modem in your hands before inserting or taking out the SIM-card.

Restart after an electrostatic discharge

The software will make an attempt to bring the connection into the initial condition if a strong electrostatic discharge causes a necessity to restart the modem. If the software does not work after the electrostatic discharge, restart the modem program.
