Follow these instructions to appropriately use the Ballistic Helmet to reduce the risks associated with ballistic or blunt impact. Failure to follow the instructions below could severely compromise the ability to protect the wearer, and increases the risk for serious injury or death:– Read and follow the User Instructions prior to use of this Ballistic Helmet.– Many factors uniquely within the user’s knowledge and control can affect the

use and performance of the Ballistic Helmet. The user is solely responsible for evaluating the Ballistic Helmet and determining whether the Ballistic Helmet is suitable to the user’s intended conditions of use.

– Inspect the Ballistic Helmet according to the inspection guidelines prior to each use.

– Never modify or alter the Ballistic Helmet.– Do not use the Ballistic Helmet if it does not fit properly.– Never pull too tightly on any strap while putting on the helmet. Always

position Ballistic Helmet on head and hold in place with one hand on top of Ballistic Helmet for initial adjustment; this prevents the helmet from becoming uncomfortable and tilted on your head, and prevents the chin cup from becoming uncentered.

– All suspension system components must be properly installed in the Ballistic Helmet. Wearing the Ballistic Helmet with missing, or incorrectly installed, suspension system components severely compromises the ability to protect the wearer.

– Ensure all internal Ballistic Helmet hardware is covered by padding prior to engaging in high risk operations such as air assault or mountaineering.

– Retention hardware is not interchangeable. Bolt size – thread pitch and length – is specific to the combination of retention style, helmet size, and whether or not the helmet is equipped with the optional accessory rail. Failure to use the retention hardware as originally configured with your helmet could result in serious injury or death.

– Never use a Ballistic Helmet drilled for an NVD bracket without the NVD bracket properly installed with the appropriate hardware.

– Never machine wash or dry any component of the Ballistic Helmet, or the Ballistic Helmet itself.

– Do not expose to an external heat source.– Do not use the Ballistic Helmet as a hammer, shovel, chair, or for any other

unintended purpose.– Do not store the Ballistic Helmet outside of the specified storage conditions

outlined in the User Instructions.– Do not use in place of an appropriately rated helmet for motor vehicle use.

Inspection for Damage

• Inspect helmet prior to and following each use.• Inspect the exterior of the shell for any visual dents. If any dents

are found, remove the suspension pads and retention system and inspect the interior of the shell for a corresponding inside dent. If a corresponding interior dent is identified the helmet should be replaced. Failure to observe this precaution could result in serious injury or death to user.

• Inspect the exterior of the helmet for any major scratches or gouges in the surface of the helmet. Any scratch or gouge that exposes white fibers would indicate the need for helmet replacement. Failure to observe this precaution could result in serious injury or death to user.

• Inspect the hook and loop attachment pads for the suspension system, retention system and exterior loop pads for a secure bond to the helmet surface. Peeling or delaminating pads should be replaced with new pads.

• Inspect the screws that attach the retention system (and accessory side rails if present) to the helmet. Ensure that they are snug and have not had the threads stripped.

• Inspect the NVD shroud to ensure it is tight and secure to the helmet.

Inspect the Ballistic Helmet according to the inspection guidelines prior to each use.

Removal and Installation of Retention System and optional Accessory Rails.

The retention system is held in place with metallic hardware (bolt and nut) through holes at four locations on the helmet shell. For helmets equipped with the optional Accessory Rail (Page 5 item 5), the bolts also pass through and retain the rails.

Removal:

1. If the suspension system is already installed, some sections may need to be removed to uncover the inner retention nut. If using a 7 pad suspension configuration, remove the four oblong suspension system pads shown on Figure 10. If using either a Team Wendy® EPIC Air™ or REVOLVE™ suspension, remove the front and rear pad sections (see Figure 9).

Retention Hardware is not interchangeable. Bolt size—thread pitch and length—is specific to the combination of Retention style, helmet size, and whether or not the helmet is equipped with the optional Accessory Rail. Failure to use the retention hardware as originally configured with your helmet could result in serious injury or death.
