NO HOT POTATOES AT SPUDSHED, THANKS TO BITZER!

Australind's new 2.2ha Spudshed mega store was

designed as the anchor for Australind City. One of

South West WA's newest estates, the Australind City

development has a staged growth plan which is likely

to span the next ten years.

The developers viewed Spudshed's opening as a

catalyst to stimulate recruitment of other tenants,

and with lots of local press coverage, the opening

had to be a success.

BITZER was engaged by local contractors DAC

Refrigeration Services to provide a wide range of

equipment to cool the enormous retail space and a

series of storage rooms.

Hayden Conti from DAC Refrigeration Services

choose BITZER to assist with this project due to his

long term relationship and positive experiences with

BITZER and Carel products.

One of the key challenges was delivering a reduction

in power consumption, and this was addressed

from a number of angles. A BITZER VARISPEED

compressor was selected as the lead compressor on

the racks and coordinated with latest Carel pRack

and MPX controllers, and Carel power meter. BITZER

also custom designed switchboards to enable fi ne

adjustment and monitoring.

In total DAC Refrigeration Services supplied:

- 4 BITZER Rack Systems

- 1 Evolution Series 2 unit with horizontal airfl ow

- 12 BBM Series evaporators with EC Fans

- 4 LDVD-EC condensers;

and a series of custom switchboards.

The addition of the custom designed switchboards

set this project apart from previous builds, and

Mr Conti reported that project delivery was near

perfect, with supply, installation and commissioning

going seamlessly without any hiccups.

BITZER, DAC Refrigeration Services and Spudshed

are continuing to monitor power consumption

across the store over the coming months to collect

comparison data that will be benchmarked against

other Spudshed stores.
