IMPORTANT INFORMATIONPESTICIDE HANDLING• Calibrate sprayers only with clean water away from the well site. • Make scheduled checks of spray equipment. • Assure accurate measurement of pesticides by all operation employees. • Mix only enough product for the job at hand. • Avoid overfilling of spray tank.• Do not discharge excess material on the soil at a single spot in the field

or mixing/loading station. • Dilute and agitate excess solution and apply at labeled rates/uses. • Avoid storage of pesticides near well sites. • When triple rinsing the pesticide container, be sure to add the rinsate to

AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTSUse this product only in accordance with its labeling and with the WorkerProtection Standard, 40 CFR part 170. This Standard contains requirements for the protection of agricultural workers on farms, forests,nurseries, and greenhouses, and handlers of agricultural pesticides. Itcontains requirements for training, decontamination, notification, andemergency assistance. It also contains specific instructions andexceptions pertaining to the statements on this label about personalprotective equipment (PPE) and restricted-entry interval. Therequirements in this box only apply to uses of this product that arecovered by the Worker Protection Standard.Do not enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during the restrictedentry interval (REI) of 4 hours.PPE required for early entry to treated areas that is permitted under theWorker Protection Standard and that involves contact with anything thathas been treated, such as plants, soil, or water, is:

Coveralls.Shoes plus socks.

NON-AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTSThe requirements in this box apply to uses of this product that are NOTwithin the scope of the Worker Protection Standard for agriculturalpesticides (40 CFR Part 170). The WPS applies when this product is usedto produce agricultural plants on farms, forests, nurseries, orgreenhouses. Keep unprotected persons out of treated areas until sprayshave dried.

DuPont™ ALLY® XP herbicide, referred to below as DuPont™ ALLY® XP orALLY® XP, must be used only in accordance with instructions on this label,Supplemental Labels, Special Local Need Registrations, FIFRA Section 18exemptions, or as otherwise permitted by FIFRA. Always read the entirelabel, including the Limitation of Warranty and Liability.

PRODUCT INFORMATIONALLY® XP herbicide is registered for use on land primarily dedicated tothe production of wheat, barley, triticale and fallow.

ALLY® XP is registered for use on wheat, barley, triticale and fallow in moststates. Check with your state extension or Department of Agriculture beforeuse, to be certain ALLY® XP is registered in your state. ALLY® XP is notregistered for use in Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, RioGrande, and Saquachecounties of Colorado.ALLY® XP is a dry-flowable granule that controls weeds in wheat (includingdurum), barley, triticale and fallow. ALLY® XP is mixed in water or can bepreslurried in water and added to liquid nitrogen carrier solutions andapplied as a uniform broadcast spray. A surfactant should be used in thespray mix unless otherwise specified on this label. ALLY® XP isnoncorrosive, nonflammable, nonvolatile, and does not freeze.

ALLY® XP controls weeds by postemergence activity. For best results, applyALLY® XP to young, actively growing weeds. The use rate depends uponthe weed spectrum and size of weeds at application. The degree andduration of control may depend on the following factors:• weed spectrum and infestation intensity• weed size at application• environmental condition at and following treatment

IMPORTANT RESTRICTIONS• Do not apply this product through any type of irrigation system.• Do not apply or drain or flush equipment on or near desirable trees or

other plants, or on areas where their roots extend, or in locations wherethe product may be washed or moved into contact with their roots, asinjury or loss of desirable trees or other plants may result.

• Do not use on lawns, walks, driveways, tennis courts, golf courses,athletic fields, commercial sod operations, or other high-maintenance, fineturfgrass areas, or similar areas.

• Do not use on grasses grown for seed.• Do not apply to irrigated land where tailwater will be used to irrigate crops

other than wheat and barley.• Do not apply to frozen ground as surface runoff may occur.• Do not apply to snow-covered ground.• Do not apply to wheat, barley or triticale undersown with legumes, as

injury to the forage may result.

IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS• Wheat and barley varieties may differ in their response to various herbicides.

DuPont recommends that you first consult your state experiment station,university, or extension agent as to sensitivity to any herbicide. If noinformation is available, limit the initial use of DuPont™ ALLY® XP to a smallarea.

• Under certain conditions such as heavy rainfall, prolonged cold weather, orwide fluctuations in day/night temperatures prior to or soon after ALLY® XPapplication, temporary discoloration and/or crop injury may occur. ALLY®XP should not be applied to wheat or barley that is stressed by severeweather conditions, drought, low fertility, water-saturated soil, disease, orinsect damage, as crop injury may result. Risk of injury is greatest whencrop is in the 2 to 5- leaf stage. Severe winter stress, drought, disease, orinsect damage following application also may result in crop injury.

• The combined treatment effects of ALLY® XP postemergence precededby preemergence wild oat herbicides may cause crop injury to springwheat when crop stress (soil crusting, planting too deep, prolonged coldweather, or drought) causes poor seedling vigor.

• In the Pacific Northwest, to prevent cold weather-related crop injury, avoidmaking applications during winter months when weather conditions areunpredictable and can be severe.

• To reduce the potential for movement of treated soil due to wind erosion,do not apply to powdery dry or light sandy soils until they have beenstabilized by rainfall, trashy mulch, reduced tillage, or other culturalpractices. Injury to immediately adjacent crops may occur when treatedsoil is blown onto land used to produce crops other than cereal grains orpasture/rangeland.

• For ground applications applied to weeds when dry, dusty field conditionsexist, control of weeds in wheel track areas may be reduced. The additionof 2,4-D or MCPA should improve weed control under these conditions.

• Preplant or preemergence applications of 2,4-D or herbicides containing2,4-D made within 2 weeks of planting spring cereals may cause cropinjury when used in conjunction with early postemergence applications ofALLY® XP. For increased crop safety, delay ALLY® XP treatment until croptillering has begun.

Environmental Conditions and Biological ActivityALLY® XP is absorbed through the foliage of broadleaf weeds, rapidlyinhibiting their growth. Leaves of susceptible plants appear chlorotic from 1 to 3 weeks after application and the growing point subsequently dies.Application of ALLY® XP provides the best control in vigorously growingcrops that shade competitive weeds. Weed control in areas of thin crop standor seeding skips may not be as satisfactory. However, a crop canopy that istoo dense at application can intercept spray and reduce weed control.ALLY® XP may injure crops that are stressed from adverse environmentalconditions (such as extreme temperatures or moisture), abnormal soilconditions, or cultural practices. In addition, different varieties of the cropmay be sensitive to treatment with ALLY® XP under otherwise normalconditions. Treatment of such varieties may injure crops.In warm, moist conditions, the expression of herbicide symptoms isaccelerated in weeds; in cold, dry conditions, expression of herbicidesymptoms is delayed. In addition, weeds hardened-off by drought stress areless susceptible to ALLY® XP.Weed control may be reduced if rainfall or snowfall occurs soon after application.

APPLICATION INFORMATIONFALLOWUse RatesApply DuPont™ ALLY® XP at 0.1 ounce per acre.In the states of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma,and Texas apply ALLY® XP at 0.1 to 0.2 ounces per acre.

Application TimingALLY® XP may be used as a fallow treatment, in the spring or fall whenthe majority of weeds have emerged and are actively growing.

Tank Mixtures in FallowALLY® XP may be used as a fallow treatment, and may be tank mixed withother herbicides that are registered for use in fallow. If the label instructionsconflict with this label, do not tank mix that product with ALLY® XP. Readand follow all label instructions on timing, precautions, and warnings for anycompanion products before using these tank mixtures. Follow the mostrestrictive labeling.

Weeds Suppressed ‡* All Crops

Corn Gromwell and Prostrate Knotweed: Apply ALLY® XP plussurfactant when weeds are actively growing, are no larger than 2" tall, andwhen crop canopy will allow thorough coverage. Tank mixing 2,4-D or MCPAwith ALLY® XP can improve results.Kochia, Russian thistle, Prickly lettuce: Naturally occurring resistantbiotypes of these weeds are known to occur. For best results, use ALLY®XP in a tank mix with dicamba and 2,4-D, or bromoxynil and 2,4-D (such as0.75 to 1 pint “Buctril” + 0.25 to 0.375 pound active 2,4-D ester). ALLY® XPshould be applied in the spring when kochia, Russian thistle, and pricklylettuce are less than 2" tall or 2" across and are actively growing (refer tothe Tank Mixtures section of this label for additional details).Sunflower (common/volunteer): Apply either ALLY® XP plus surfactant orALLY® XP plus 2,4-D or MCPA after the majority of sunflowers haveemerged, are 2" to 4" tall and are actively growing. Use spray volumes of atleast 3 gallons by air or 5 gallons by ground.Wild Buckwheat: For best results, apply ALLY® XP plus 2,4-D or MCPAwhen plants have no more than 3 true leaves (not counting the cotyledons).If plants are not actively growing, delay treatment until environmentalconditions favor active weed growth.

DuPont™ ALLY® XP may be tank mixed with other suitable registeredherbicides to control weeds listed under Weeds Suppressed, weedsresistant to ALLY® XP, or weeds not listed under Weeds Controlled.

With 2,4-D (amine or ester) or MCPA (amine or ester)ALLY® XP can be used as a tank-mix treatment with 2,4-D or MCPA (esterformulations provide best results) herbicides after weeds have emerged.For best results, use 0.1 ounce of ALLY® XP per acre; add 2,4-D or MCPAherbicides to the tank at 0.25 to 0.5 pound active ingredient. Surfactantmay be added to the mixture at 0.5 to 1 quart per 100 gallons of spraysolution; however, adding surfactant may increase the potential for cropinjury.Apply ALLY® XP plus MCPA after the 3 to 5-leaf stage but before boot (withdurum varieties do not apply before tillering). Apply ALLY® XP plus 2,4-Dafter tillering (refer to appropriate 2,4-D manufacturer’s label), but beforeboot.

CROP ROTATIONBefore using DuPont™ ALLY® XP, carefully consider your crop rotationplans and options. For rotational flexibility, do not treat all of your wheat,barley, triticale, grain sorghum or fallow acres at the same time.

Minimum Rotational IntervalsMinimum rotation intervals* are determined by the rate of breakdown ofALLY® XP applied. ALLY® XP breakdown in the soil is affected by soil pH,presence of soil microorganisms, soil temperature, and soil moisture. Lowsoil pH, high soil temperature, and high soil moisture increase ALLY® XPbreakdown in soil, while high soil pH, low soil temperature, and low soilmoisture slow ALLY® XP breakdown.Of these 3 factors, only soil pH remains relatively constant. Soiltemperature, and to a greater extent, soil moisture, can vary significantlyfrom year to year and from area to area. For this reason, soil temperaturesand soil moisture should be monitored regularly when considering croprotations.* The minimum rotation interval represents the period of time from the last

application to the anticipated date of the next planting.

Soil pH LimitationsDo not use ALLY® XP on soils having a pH above 7.9, as extended soilresidual activity could extend crop rotation intervals beyond normal. Undercertain conditions, ALLY® XP could remain in the soil for 34 months ormore, injuring wheat and barley. In addition, other crops planted in high-pHsoils can be extremely sensitive to low concentrations of ALLY® XP.

Checking Soil pHBefore using ALLY® XP, determine the soil pH of the areas of intended use.To obtain a representative pH value for the test area, take several 0” to 4”samples from different areas of the field and analyze them separately.Consult local extension publications for additional information onrecommended soil sampling procedures.

BIOASSAYA field bioassay must be completed before rotating to any crop not listed(See the Rotation Intervals table), or if the soil pH is not in the specifiedrange, or if the use rate applied is not specified in the table, or if theminimum cumulative precipitation has not occurred since application.

Field Bioassay To conduct a field bioassay, grow test strips of the crop or crops you plan togrow the following year in fields previously treated with ALLY® XP. MIXING INSTRUCTIONS1. Fill the tank 0.25 to 0.33 full of water (If using liquid nitrogen fertilizer

solution in place of water, see Tank Mixtures sections for additionaldetails).

2. While agitating, add the required amount of ALLY® XP.3. Continue agitation until the ALLY® XP is fully dispersed, at least 5

minutes.4. Once the ALLY® XP is fully dispersed, maintain agitation and continue

filling tank with water. ALLY® XP should be thoroughly mixed with waterbefore adding any other material.

5. As the tank is filling, add tank mix partners (if desired) then add thenecessary volume of nonionic surfactant. Always add surfactant last.

6. If the mixture is not continuously agitated, settling will occur. If settlingoccurs, thoroughly re-agitate before using.

7. Apply ALLY® XP spray mixture within 24 hours of mixing to avoid productdegradation.

8. If ALLY® XP and a tank mix partner are to be applied in multiple loads,pre-slurry the ALLY® XP in clean water prior to adding to the tank. Thiswill prevent the tank mix partner from interfering with the dissolution ofthe ALLY® XP.

Do not use ALLY® XP with spray additives that reduce the pH of the spraysolution to below 3.0.

SPRAY EQUIPMENTFor specific application equipment, refer to the manufacturer’srecommendations for additional information on GPA, pressure, speed, nozzletypes and arrangements, nozzle heights above the target canopy, etc.

Be sure to calibrate air or ground equipment properly before application.Select a spray volume and delivery system that will ensure thoroughcoverage and a uniform spray pattern with minimum drift. Use higher sprayvolumes to obtain better coverage when the crop canopy is dense. Avoidswath overlapping, and shut off spray booms while starting, turning,slowing, or stopping to avoid crop injury. Do not make applications using equipment and/or spray volumes or underweather conditions that might cause spray to drift onto nontarget sites. Foradditional information on spray drift, refer to the Spray Drift Managementsection of the label. Continuous agitation is required to keep ALLY® XP in suspension.

SPRAYER CLEANUPSpray equipment must be cleaned before ALLY® XP is sprayed. Follow thecleanup procedures specified on the labels of previously applied products.If no directions are provided, follow the six steps outlined in After SprayingALLY® XP section of this label.

At the End of the Day When multiple loads of ALLY® XP herbicide are applied, it is recommendedthat at the end of each day of spraying, the interior of the tank be rinsed withfresh water and then partially filled, and the boom and hoses flushed. Thiswill prevent the buildup of dried pesticide deposits that can accumulate inthe application equipment.

After Spraying ALLY® XP and Before Spraying Crops OtherThan Wheat, Barley, Triticale, Grain Sorghum or FallowTo avoid subsequent injury to desirable crops, thoroughly clean all mixingand spray equipment immediately following applications of ALLY® XP asfollows:

1. Drain tank; thoroughly rinse spray tanks, boom, and hoses with cleanwater. Loosen and physically remove any visible deposits.

2. Fill the tank with clean water and 1 gal of household ammonia* (contains3% active) for every 100 gal of water. Flush the hoses, boom, andnozzles with the cleaning solution. Then add more water to completely fillthe tank. Circulate the cleaning solution through the tank and hoses forat least 15 min. Flush the hoses, boom, and nozzles again with thecleaning solution, and then drain the tank.

3. Remove the nozzles and screens and clean separately in a bucketcontaining cleaning agent and water.

4. Repeat step 2. 5. Rinse the tank, boom, and hoses with clean water. 6. If only Ammonia is used as a cleaner, the rinsate solution may be applied

back to the crop(s) specified on this label. Do not exceed the maximumlabeled use rate. If other cleaners are used, consult the cleaner label forrinsate disposal instructions. If no instructions are given, dispose of therinsate on site or at an approved waste disposal facility. * Equivalent amounts of an alternate-strength ammonia solution or a

DuPont-approved cleaner can be used in the cleanout procedure.Carefully read and follow the individual cleaner instructions. Consultyour agricultural dealer, applicator, or DuPont representative for alisting of approved cleaners.

Notes:1. Attention: Do not use chlorine bleach with ammonia, as dangerous

gases will form. Do not clean equipment in an enclosed area.2. Steam-cleaning aerial spray tanks is recommended prior to performing

the above cleanout procedure to facilitate the removal of any cakeddeposits.

3. When DuPont™ ALLY® XP is tank mixed with other pesticides, allrequired cleanout procedures should be examined and the most rigorousprocedure should be followed.

4. In addition to this cleanout procedure, all precleanout guidelines onsubsequently applied products should be followed as per the individuallabels.

5. Where routine spraying practices include shared equipment frequentlybeing switched between applications of ALLY® XP and applications ofother pesticides to ALLY® XP-sensitive crops during the same sprayseason, it is recommended that a sprayer be dedicated to ALLY® XP tofurther reduce the chance of crop injury.

SPRAY DRIFT MANAGEMENTThe interaction of many equipment- and weather-related factors determinesthe potential for spray drift. The applicator is responsible for considering allthese factors when making application decisions. Avoiding spray drift is theresponsibility of the applicator.

IMPORTANCE OF DROPLET SIZEThe most effective drift management strategy is to apply the largest droplets whichare consistent with pest control objectives. The presence of sensitive speciesnearby, the environmental conditions, and pest pressure may affect how anapplicator balances drift control and coverage. Applying larger droplets reducesdrift potential, but will not prevent drift if applications are made improperly or underunfavorable environmental conditions.

A droplet size classification system describes the range of droplet sizes producedby spray nozzles. The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers(ASABE) provide a Standard that describes droplet size spectrum categoriesdefined by a number of reference nozzles (fine, coarse, etc.). Droplet spectraresulting from the use of a specific nozzle may also be described in terms ofvolume mean diameter (VMD). Coarser droplet size spectra have larger VMD’sand lower drift potential.

CONTROLLING DROPLET SIZE - GROUND APPLICATION• Nozzle Type - Select a nozzle type that is designed for the intended application.

With most nozzle types, narrower spray angles produce larger droplets. The useof low-drift nozzles will reduce drift potential.

• Pressure - The lowest spray pressures recommended for the nozzle producethe largest droplets. Higher pressure reduces droplet size and does not improvecanopy penetration. When higher flow rates are needed, using a higher- capacitynozzle instead of increasing pressure results in the coarsest droplet spectrum.

• Flow Rate/Orifice Size - Using the highest flow rate nozzles (largest orifice) thatare consistent with pest control objectives reduces the potential for spray drift.Nozzles with higher rated flows produce coarser droplet spectra.

CONTROLLING DROPLET SIZE - AIRCRAFT • Nozzle Type - Solid stream, or other low drift nozzles produce the coarsest

droplet spectra.• Number of Nozzles - Using the minimum number of nozzles with the highest

flow rate that provide uniform coverage will produce a coarser droplet spectrum• Nozzle Orientation - Orienting nozzles in a manner that minimizes the effects

of air shear will produce the coarsest droplet spectra. For some nozzles such assolid stream, pointing the nozzles straight back parallel to the airstream willproduce a coarser droplet spectrum than other orientations.

• Pressure - Selecting the pressure that produces the coarsest droplet spectrumfor a particular nozzle and airspeed reduces spray drift potential. For somenozzle types such as solid streams, lower pressures can produce finer dropletspectra and increase drift potential.

BOOM LENGTH (AIRCRAFT), AND APPLICATION HEIGHT• Boom Length (aircraft) - Using shorter booms decreases drift potential. Boom

lengths are expressed as a percentage of an aircraft’s wingspan or a helicopter’srotor blade diameter. Shorter boom length and proper positioning can minimizedrift caused by wingtip or rotor vortices.

• Application Height (aircraft) - Applications made at the lowest height that areconsistent with pest control objectives and the safe operation of the aircraft willreduce the potential for spray drift.

• Application Height (ground) - Applications made at the lowest heightconsistent with pest control objectives, and that allow the applicator to keep theboom level with the application site and minimize bounce, will reduce theexposure of spray droplets to evaporation and wind, and reduce spray driftpotential.

WINDDrift potential is lowest when applications are made in light to gentle sustainedwinds (2-10 mph), which are blowing in a constant direction. Many factors,including droplet size and equipment type also determine drift potential at anygiven wind speed. AVOID GUSTY OR WINDLESS CONDITIONS.

Local terrain can also influence wind patterns. Every applicator is expected to befamiliar with local wind patterns and how they affect spray drift.

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITYSetting up equipment to produce larger droplets to compensate for dropletevaporation can reduce spray drift potential. Droplet evaporation is most severewhen conditions are both hot and dry.

SURFACE TEMPERATURE INVERSIONSDrift potential is high during a surface temperature inversion. Surface inversionsrestrict vertical air mixing, which may cause small suspended droplets to remainclose to the ground and move laterally in a concentrated cloud. Surface inversionsare characterized by increasing temperature with altitude and are common on nightswith limited cloud cover and light to no wind. They begin to form as the sun sets andoften continue into the morning. Mist or fog may indicate the presence of aninversion in humid areas. Inversions may also be identified by producing smoke andobserving its behavior. Smoke that remains close to the ground, or moves laterallyin a concentrated cloud under low wind conditions indicates a surface inversion.Smoke that moves upward and rapidly dissipates indicates good vertical air mixing.

SHIELDED SPRAYERSShielding the boom or individual nozzles can reduce the effects of wind. However,it is the responsibility of the applicator to verify that the shields are minimizing driftpotential, and not interfering with uniform deposition of the product.

AIR ASSISTED (AIR BLAST) FIELD CROP SPRAYERSAir assisted field crop sprayers carry droplets to the target via a downward directedair stream. Some may reduce the potential for drift, but if a sprayer is unsuitable forthe application and/or set up improperly, high drift potential can result. It is theresponsibility of the applicator to determine that a sprayer is suitable for theintended application, that it is configured properly, and that drift potential has beenminimized.

Note: Air assisted field sprayers can affect product performance by affecting spraycoverage and canopy penetration. Read the specific crop use and applicationequipment instructions to determine if an air assisted field crop sprayer can be used.

SENSITIVE AREASMaking applications when there is a sustained wind moving away from adjacentsensitive areas (e.g., residential areas, bodies of water, known habitat forthreatened or endangered species, non-target crops) is an effective way tominimize the effect of spray drift.

DRIFT CONTROL ADDITIVESUsing product compatible drift control additives can reduce drift potential. When adrift control additive is used, read and carefully observe cautionary statements andall other information on the additive’s label. If using an additive that increasesviscosity, ensure that the nozzles and other application equipment will functionproperly with a viscous spray solution. Preferred drift control additives have beencertified by the Chemical Producers and Distributors Association (CPDA).

RESISTANCEDuPont™ ALLY® XP contains the active ingredient metsulfuron-methyl and is aGroup 2 herbicide based on the mode of action classification system of the WeedScience Society of America. When herbicides with mode of action classifications

that affect the same biological sites of action are used repeatedly over severalyears to control the same weed species in the same treatment area, naturally-occurring resistant biotypes may survive a correctly applied herbicide treatment,propagate, and become dominant in that area. Adequate control of these resistantweed biotypes cannot be expected. If weed control is unsatisfactory, it may benecessary to retreat the problem area using a product affecting a differentbiological site of action. To better manage herbicide resistance through delayingthe proliferation and possible dominance of herbicide resistant weed biotypes, itmay be necessary to change cultural practices within and between crop seasonssuch as using a combination of tillage, retreatment, tank-mix partners and/orsequential herbicide applications that affect a different site of action. Weedescapes that are allowed to go to seed, and movement of plant material betweentreatment areas on equipment will promote the spread of resistant biotypes. It isadvisable to keep accurate records of pesticides applied to individual fields to helpobtain information on the spread and dispersal of resistant biotypes. Consult youragricultural dealer, consultant, applicator, and/or appropriate state agriculturalextension service representative to determine appropriate actions for treatingspecific resistant weed biotypes in your area.

INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENTThis product may be used as part of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM)program that can include biological, cultural, and genetic practices aimed atpreventing economic pest damage. IPM principles and practices include fieldscouting or other detection methods, correct target pest identification, populationmonitoring, and treating when target pest populations reach locally determinedaction thresholds. Consult your state cooperative extension service, professionalconsultants or other qualified authorities to determine appropriate action treatmentthreshold levels for treating specific pest/crop systems in your area.

STORAGE AND DISPOSALDo not contaminate water, food or feed by storage and disposal.

Pesticide Storage: Store product in original container only. Do not contaminatewater, other pesticides, fertilizer, food or feed in storage. Store in a cool, dryplace.

Pesticide Disposal: Wastes resulting from the use of this product must bedisposed of on site or at an approved waste disposal facility.

Container Handling: Refer to the Net Contents section of this product’slabeling for the applicable “Nonrefillable Container” or “RefillableContainer” designation.

Nonrefillable Plastic and Metal Containers (Capacity Equal to or Less Than50 Pounds): Nonrefillable container. Do not reuse or refill this container. Triplerinse container (or equivalent) promptly after emptying. Triple rinse as follows:Empty the remaining contents into application equipment or a mix tank. Fill thecontainer 1/4 full with water and recap. Shake for 10 seconds. Pour rinsate intoapplication equipment or a mix tank or store rinsate for later use or disposal.Drain for 10 seconds after the flow begins to drip. Repeat this procedure twomore times. Then, for Plastic Containers, offer for recycling if available orpuncture and dispose of in a sanitary landfill, or by incineration. Do not burn,unless allowed by state and local ordinances. For Metal Containers, offer forrecycling if available or reconditioning if appropriate, or puncture and dispose ofin a sanitary landfill, or by other procedures approved by state and localauthorities.

AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTSUse this product only in accordance with its labeling and with the Worker Protection Standard, 40 CFR part 170. ThisStandard contains requirements for the protection of agricultural workers on farms, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses, andhandlers of agricultural pesticides. It contains requirements for training, decontamination, notification, and emergencyassistance. It also contains specific instructions and exceptions pertaining to the statements on this label about personalprotective equipment (PPE) and restricted-entry interval. The requirements in this box only apply to uses of this product thatare covered by the Worker Protection Standard.Do not enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during the restricted entry interval (REI) of 4 hours.PPE required for early entry to treated areas that is permitted under the Worker Protection Standard and that involves contactwith anything that has been treated, such as plants, soil, or water, is:

NON-AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTSThe requirements in this box apply to uses of this product that are NOT within the scope of the Worker Protection Standardfor agricultural pesticides (40 CFR Part 170). The WPS applies when this product is used to produce agricultural plants onfarms, forests, nurseries, or greenhouses. Keep unprotected persons out of treated areas until sprays have dried.

DuPont™ ALLY® XP herbicide, referred to below as DuPont™ ALLY® XP or ALLY® XP, must be used only in accordance with

instructions on this label, Supplemental Labels, Special Local Need Registrations, FIFRA Section 18 exemptions, or as otherwise

permitted by FIFRA. Always read the entire label, including the Limitation of Warranty and Liability.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

ALLY® XP is registered for use on wheat, barley, triticale and fallow in most states. Check with your state extension orDepartment of Agriculture before use, to be certain ALLY® XP is registered in your state. ALLY® XP is not registered for use inAlamosa, Conejos, Costilla, RioGrande, and Saquache counties of Colorado.ALLY® XP is a dry-flowable granule that controls weeds in wheat (including durum), barley, triticale and fallow. ALLY® XP ismixed in water or can be preslurried in water and added to liquid nitrogen carrier solutions and applied as a uniform broadcastspray. A surfactant should be used in the spray mix unless otherwise specified on this label. ALLY® XP is noncorrosive,nonflammable, nonvolatile, and does not freeze.ALLY® XP controls weeds by postemergence activity. For best results, apply ALLY® XP to young, actively growing weeds. Theuse rate depends upon the weed spectrum and size of weeds at application. The degree and duration of control may depend onthe following factors:• weed spectrum and infestation intensity• weed size at application• environmental condition at and following treatment

IMPORTANT RESTRICTIONS• Do not apply this product through any type of irrigation system.• Do not apply or drain or flush equipment on or near desirable trees or other plants, or on areas where their roots extend, or

in locations where the product may be washed or moved into contact with their roots, as injury or loss of desirable trees orother plants may result.

• Do not use on lawns, walks, driveways, tennis courts, golf courses, athletic fields, commercial sod operations, or other high-maintenance, fine turfgrass areas, or similar areas.

• Do not use on grasses grown for seed.• Do not apply to irrigated land where tailwater will be used to irrigate crops other than wheat and barley.• Do not apply to frozen ground as surface runoff may occur.• Do not apply to snow-covered ground.• Do not apply to wheat, barley or triticale undersown with legumes, as injury to the forage may result.

IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS• Wheat and barley varieties may differ in their response to various herbicides. DuPont recommends that you first consult your

state experiment station, university, or extension agent as to sensitivity to any herbicide. If no information is available, limitthe initial use of DuPont™ ALLY® XP to a small area.

• Under certain conditions such as heavy rainfall, prolonged cold weather, or wide fluctuations in day/night temperatures priorto or soon after ALLY® XP application, temporary discoloration and/or crop injury may occur. ALLY® XP should not beapplied to wheat or barley that is stressed by severe weather conditions, drought, low fertility, water-saturated soil, disease,or insect damage, as crop injury may result. Risk of injury is greatest when crop is in the 2 to 5- leaf stage. Severe winterstress, drought, disease, or insect damage following application also may result in crop injury.

• The combined treatment effects of ALLY® XP postemergence preceded by preemergence wild oat herbicides may cause cropinjury to spring wheat when crop stress (soil crusting, planting too deep, prolonged cold weather, or drought) causes poorseedling vigor.

• In the Pacific Northwest, to prevent cold weather-related crop injury, avoid making applications during winter months whenweather conditions are unpredictable and can be severe.

• To reduce the potential for movement of treated soil due to wind erosion, do not apply to powdery dry or light sandy soilsuntil they have been stabilized by rainfall, trashy mulch, reduced tillage, or other cultural practices. Injury to immediatelyadjacent crops may occur when treated soil is blown onto land used to produce crops other than cereal grains orpasture/rangeland.

• For ground applications applied to weeds when dry, dusty field conditions exist, control of weeds in wheel track areas maybe reduced. The addition of 2,4-D or MCPA should improve weed control under these conditions.

• Preplant or preemergence applications of 2,4-D or herbicides containing 2,4-D made within 2 weeks of planting springcereals may cause crop injury when used in conjunction with early postemergence applications of ALLY® XP. For increasedcrop safety, delay ALLY® XP treatment until crop tillering has begun.

Environmental Conditions and Biological ActivityALLY® XP is absorbed through the foliage of broadleaf weeds, rapidly inhibiting their growth. Leaves of susceptible plantsappear chlorotic from 1 to 3 weeks after application and the growing point subsequently dies.Application of ALLY® XP provides the best control in vigorously growing crops that shade competitive weeds. Weed control inareas of thin crop stand or seeding skips may not be as satisfactory. However, a crop canopy that is too dense at application canintercept spray and reduce weed control.ALLY® XP may injure crops that are stressed from adverse environmental conditions (such as extreme temperatures ormoisture), abnormal soil conditions, or cultural practices. In addition, different varieties of the crop may be sensitive to treatmentwith ALLY® XP under otherwise normal conditions. Treatment of such varieties may injure crops.In warm, moist conditions, the expression of herbicide symptoms is accelerated in weeds; in cold, dry conditions, expression ofherbicide symptoms is delayed. In addition, weeds hardened-off by drought stress are less susceptible to ALLY® XP.Weed control may be reduced if rainfall or snowfall occurs soon after application.

APPLICATION INFORMATIONFALLOWUse Rates

ALLY® XP herbicide is registered for use on land primarily dedicated to the production of wheat, barley, triticale and fallow.

ALLY® XP may be used as a fallow treatment, in the spring or fall when the majority of weeds have emerged and are actively growing.

Tank Mixtures in FallowALLY® XP may be used as a fallow treatment, and may be tank mixed with other herbicides that are registered for use in fallow. With Insecticides and FungicidesALLY® XP may be tank mixed or used sequentially with insecticides and fungicides registered for use on cereal grains.However, under certain conditions (drought stress, cold weather, or if the crop is in the 2 to 4 leaf stage), tank mixes or sequentialapplications of ALLY® XP with organophosphate insecticides (such as parathion, “Di-Syston”) may produce temporary crop yellowingor, in severe cases, crop injury. The potential for crop injury is greatest when wide fluctuations in day/night temperatures occur just prior to or soon after application. Test these mixtures in a small area before treating large areas.Do not apply ALLY® XP within 60 days of crop emergence where an organophosphate insecticide (such as “Di-Syston”) has beenapplied as an in-furrow treatment, as crop injury may result.Do not use ALLY® XP plus Malathion, as crop injury will result.

With Liquid Nitrogen Solution Fertilizer Liquid nitrogen fertilizer solutions may be used as a carrier in place of water. Run a tank mix compatibility test before mixing ALLY®XP in fertilizer solution.ALLY® XP must first be slurried with water and then added to liquid nitrogen solutions (e.g., 28-0-0, 32-0-0). Ensure that the agitatoris running while the ALLY® XP is added. Use of this mixture may result in temporary crop yellowing and stunting.If using low rates of liquid nitrogen fertilizer in the spray solution (less than 50% of the spray solution volume), the addition of surfactantis necessary. Add surfactant at 0.5 pt to 1 qt per 100 gal of spray solution (0.06 to 0.25% v/v) based on local recommendations. When using high rates of liquid nitrogen fertilizer in the spray solution, adding surfactant increases the risk of crop injury. Consult youragricultural dealer, consultant, fieldman, or DuPont representative for a specific recommendation before adding an adjuvant to thesetank mixtures.If 2,4-D or MCPA is included with ALLY® XP and fertilizer mixture, ester formulations tend to be more compatible (See manufacturer’slabel). Do not add surfactant when using ALLY® XP in tank mix with 2,4-D ester or MCPA ester and liquid nitrogen fertilizer solutions.Note: In certain areas east of the Mississippi river unacceptable crop response may occur with use of straight or dilute nitrogen fertilizercarrier solutions where cold temperatures or widely fluctuating day/night temperatures exist. ALLY® XP HERBICIDE WITH MCPA, 2, 4-D AND/OR DICAMBA FOR SUPPRESSION OF WINTER ANNUAL BROADLEAF WEEDS INWINTER WHEAT TO BE GRAZED OUT IN THE STATES OF TEXAS, OKLAHOMA, NEW MEXICO and KANSAS PRODUCT INFORMATIONALLY® XP herbicide may be tank mixed with MCPA, 2,4-D and/or dicamba for suppression of winter annual broadleaf weeds in winterwheat to be grazed out and not harvested for grain, in the States of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Kansas.DIRECTIONS FOR USEFor the suppression of winter annual broadleaf weeds (such as henbit and mustards) in winter wheat in the states of Texas, Oklahoma,New Mexico and Kansas, ALLY® XP at 0.05 ounces per acre should be tank mixed with MCPA, 2,4-D and/or dicamba at label rates. Winterannual broadleaf weeds should be less than 1" tall or in the rosette stage for suppression. Add a DuPont recommended nonionic surfactanthaving at least 80% active ingredient at 1 to 2 quarts per 100 gallons of spray solution (0.25 to 0.5% v/v).

Rotation Intervals For Crops in Non-Irrigated Land Following Use of DuPont™ ALLY® XP at 0.05 Ounces Per Acre on Wheat That Willbe Grazed Out

Apply 0.1 ounce of ALLY® XP per acre in combination with 2,4-D or glyphosate containing products to aid in dry down of manybroadleaved weeds, thereby aiding grain harvest.

Make applications after the crop has reached the hard dough stage, but no later than 10 days before harvest.

Application Timing

Tank Mixtures in Harvest AidA tank mix of ALLY® XP plus 2,4-D and surfactant, or glyphosate, will typically aid in dry down of many broadleaved weeds, therebyaiding grain harvest. Postemergence application should be made to actively growing weeds after the crop is in the hard dough stage.If weeds are not dry within 10 days after application, delay harvest until weeds are dry. Include 1 to 2 quarts surfactant per 100 gallons spray solution.In addition to the weeds listed in Weeds Controlled chart of this label, the 2,4-D combination will also dry down common cocklebur,marestail, puncturevine and common and wild sunflower. In areas where 2,4-D use is restricted, apply ALLY® XP with surfactant only;however, this treatment may be less effective.

With GlyphosateUse 0.1 ounce ALLY® XP plus the locally directed rate of glyphosate. ALLY® XP requires the use of an adjuvant for optimum activity.Consult the glyphosate label or local recommendations for the amount of adjuvant to include.

GRAIN SORGHUMPRODUCT INFORMATIONDuPont™ ALLY® XP is registered for use on irrigated or dryland grain sorghum in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas(North of I-20).Use Rates: Apply ALLY® XP at 0.05 ounce per acre plus 0.25 pound active ingredient 2,4-D amine per acre. Do not use surfactant or cropoil.Crop Stage: For optimum performance and crop safety, apply ALLY® XP plus 2,4-D amine when grain sorghum is 3 to 15 inches in height.If sorghum is taller than 10 inches to the top of the canopy, use drop nozzles and keep spray off the foliage. AERIAL APPLICATIONUse nozzle types and arrangements that provide optimum spray distribution and maximum coverage.

To obtain optimum spray distribution and thorough coverage, use flat-fan or low-volume flood nozzles.

GROUND APPLICATION

Wheat, Barley, Triticale and Fallow - use 1 to 5 GPA. Use at least 3 GPA in Idaho, Oregon, or Utah.

When applying DuPont™ ALLY® XP by air in areas adjacent to sensitive crops, use solid stream nozzles oriented straight back. Low soil pH, high soil temperature, and high soil moistureincrease ALLY® XP breakdown in soil, while high soil pH, low soil temperature, and low soil moisture slow ALLY® XP breakdown.Of these 3 factors, only soil pH remains relatively constant. Soil temperature, and to a greater extent, soil moisture, can vary significantlyfrom year to year and from area to area. Soil pH LimitationsDo not use ALLY® XP on soils having a pH above 7.9, as extended soil residual activity could extend crop rotation intervals beyond normal.Under certain conditions, ALLY® XP could remain in the soil for 34 months or more, injuring wheat and barley. In addition, other cropsplanted in high-pH soils can be extremely sensitive to low concentrations of ALLY® XP.

Checking Soil pHBefore using ALLY® XP, determine the soil pH of the areas of intended use. To obtain a representative pH value for the test area, take several0” to 4” samples from different areas of the field and analyze them separately. Consult local extension publications for additional informationon recommended soil sampling procedures.

SPRAY DRIFT MANAGEMENTThe interaction of many equipment- and weather-related factors determines the potential for spray drift. The applicator is responsiblefor considering all these factors when making application decisions. Avoiding spray drift is the responsibility of the applicator.

IMPORTANCE OF DROPLET SIZEThe most effective drift management strategy is to apply the largest droplets which are consistent with pest control objectives. Thepresence of sensitive species nearby, the environmental conditions, and pest pressure may affect how an applicator balances driftcontrol and coverage. Applying larger droplets reduces drift potential, but will not prevent drift if applications are made improperlyor under unfavorable environmental conditions. A droplet size classification system describes the range of droplet sizes produced by spray nozzles. The American Society ofAgricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) provide a Standard that describes droplet size spectrum categories defined by anumber of reference nozzles (fine, coarse, etc.). Droplet spectra resulting from the use of a specific nozzle may also be described interms of volume mean diameter (VMD). Coarser droplet size spectra have larger VMD’s and lower drift potential.

CONTROLLING DROPLET SIZE - GROUND APPLICATION• Nozzle Type - Select a nozzle type that is designed for the intended application. With most nozzle types, narrower spray angles

produce larger droplets. The use of low-drift nozzles will reduce drift potential.• Pressure - The lowest spray pressures recommended for the nozzle produce the largest droplets. Higher pressure reduces

droplet size and does not improve canopy penetration. When higher flow rates are needed, using a higher-capacity nozzle insteadof increasing pressure results in the coarsest droplet spectrum.

• Flow Rate/Orifice Size - Using the highest flow rate nozzles (largest orifice) that are consistent with pest control objectivesreduces the potential for spray drift. Nozzles with higher rated flows produce coarser droplet spectra.

CONTROLLING DROPLET SIZE - AIRCRAFT• Nozzle Type - Solid stream, or other low drift nozzles produce the coarsest droplet spectra.• Number of Nozzles - Using the minimum number of nozzles with the highest flow rate that provide uniform coverage will

produce a coarser droplet spectrum• Nozzle Orientation - Orienting nozzles in a manner that minimizes the effects of air shear will produce the coarsest droplet

spectra. For some nozzles such as solid stream, pointing the nozzles straight back parallel to the airstream will produce a coarserdroplet spectrum than other orientations.

• Pressure – Selecting the pressure that produces the coarsest droplet spectrum for a particular nozzle and airspeed reduces spraydrift potential. For some nozzle types such as solid streams, lower pressures can produce finer droplet spectra and increase driftpotential.

BOOM LENGTH (AIRCRAFT), AND APPLICATION HEIGHT• Boom Length (aircraft) - Using shorter booms decreases drift potential. Boom lengths are expressed as a percentage of an

aircraft’s wingspan or a helicopter’s rotor blade diameter. Shorter boom length and proper positioning can minimize drift causedby wingtip or rotor vortices.

• Application Height (aircraft) - Applications made at the lowest height that are consistent with pest control objectives and thesafe operation of the aircraft will reduce the potential for spray drift.

• Application Height (ground) - Applications made at the lowest height consistent with pest control objectives, and that allow theapplicator to keep the boom level with the application site and minimize bounce, will reduce the exposure of spray droplets toevaporation and wind, and reduce spray drift potential.

WINDDrift potential is lowest when applications are made in light to gentle sustained winds (2-10 mph), which are blowing in a constantdirection. Many factors, including droplet size and equipment type also determine drift potential at any given wind speed. AVOIDGUSTY OR WINDLESS CONDITIONS. Local terrain can also influence wind patterns. Every applicator is expected to be familiar with local wind patterns and how they affectspray drift.

TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITYSetting up equipment to produce larger droplets to compensate for droplet evaporation can reduce spray drift potential. Dropletevaporation is most severe when conditions are both hot and dry.

SURFACE TEMPERATURE INVERSIONSDrift potential is high during a surface temperature inversion. Surface inversions restrict vertical air mixing, which may cause smallsuspended droplets to remain close to the ground and move laterally in a concentrated cloud. Surface inversions are characterizedby increasing temperature with altitude and are common on nights with limited cloud cover and light to no wind. They begin to formas the sun sets and often continue into the morning. Mist or fog may indicate the presence of an inversion in humid areas. Inversionsmay also be identified by producing smoke and observing its behavior. Smoke that remains close to the ground, or moves laterallyin a concentrated cloud under low wind conditions indicates a surface inversion. Smoke that moves upward and rapidly dissipatesindicates good vertical air mixing.

SHIELDED SPRAYERSShielding the boom or individual nozzles can reduce the effects of wind. However, it is the responsibility of the applicator to verifythat the shields are minimizing drift potential, and not interfering with uniform deposition of the product.

AIR ASSISTED (AIR BLAST) FIELD CROP SPRAYERSAir assisted field crop sprayers carry droplets to the target via a downward directed air stream. Some may reduce the potential fordrift, but if a sprayer is unsuitable for the application and/or set up improperly, high drift potential can result. It is the responsibilityof the applicator to determine that a sprayer is suitable for the intended application, that it is configured properly, and that driftpotential has been minimized. Note: Air assisted field sprayers can affect product performance by affecting spray coverage and canopy penetration. Read thespecific crop use and application equipment instructions to determine if an air assisted field crop sprayer can be used.

SENSITIVE AREASMaking applications when there is a sustained wind moving away from adjacent sensitive areas (e.g., residential areas, bodies ofwater, known habitat for threatened or endangered species, non-target crops) is an effective way to minimize the effect of spray drift.

DRIFT CONTROL ADDITIVES Using product compatible drift control additives can reduce drift potential. When a drift control additive is used, read and carefullyobserve cautionary statements and all other information on the additive’s label. If using an additive that increases viscosity, ensurethat the nozzles and other application equipment will function properly with a viscous spray solution. Preferred drift control additiveshave been certified by the Chemical Producers and Distributors Association (CPDA).

RESISTANCEDuPont™ ALLY® XP contains the active ingredient metsulfuron-methyl and is a Group 2 herbicide based on the mode of actionclassification system of the Weed Science Society of America. When herbicides with mode of action classifications that affect thesame biological sites of action are used repeatedly over several years to control the same weed species in the same treatment area,naturally-occurring resistant biotypes may survive a correctly applied herbicide treatment, propagate, and become dominant in thatarea. Adequate control of these resistant weed biotypes cannot be expected. If weed control is unsatisfactory, it may be necessaryto retreat the problem area using a product affecting a different biological site of action. To better manage herbicide resistancethrough delaying the proliferation and possible dominance of herbicide resistant weed biotypes, it may be necessary to changecultural practices within and between crop seasons such as using a combination of tillage, retreatment, tank-mix partners and/orsequential herbicide applications that affect a different site of action. Weed escapes that are allowed to go to seed, and movement ofplant material between treatment areas on equipment will promote the spread of resistant biotypes. It is advisable to keep accuraterecords of pesticides applied to individual fields to help obtain information on the spread and dispersal of resistant biotypes. Consultyour agricultural dealer, consultant, applicator, and/or appropriate state agricultural extension service representative to determineappropriate actions for treating specific resistant weed biotypes in your area.

INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENTThis product may be used as part of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program that can include biological, cultural, and geneticpractices aimed at preventing economic pest damage. IPM principles and practices include field scouting or other detection methods,correct target pest identification, population monitoring, and treating when target pest populations reach locally determined actionthresholds. Consult your state cooperative extension service, professional consultants or other qualified authorities to determineappropriate action treatment threshold levels for treating specific pest/crop systems in your area.

GRAZING/HAYING

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS1. Fill the tank 0.25 to 0.33 full of water (If using liquid nitrogen fertilizer solution in place of water, see Tank Mixtures sections for

additional details).2. While agitating, add the required amount of ALLY® XP.3. Continue agitation until the ALLY® XP is fully dispersed, at least 5 minutes.4. Once the ALLY® XP is fully dispersed, maintain agitation and continue filling tank with water. ALLY® XP should be thoroughly

mixed with water before adding any other material.5. As the tank is filling, add tank mix partners (if desired) then add the necessary volume of nonionic surfactant. Always add

surfactant last.6. If the mixture is not continuously agitated, settling will occur. If settling occurs, thoroughly re-agitate before using.7. Apply ALLY® XP spray mixture within 24 hours of mixing to avoid product degradation.8. If ALLY® XP and a tank mix partner are to be applied in multiple loads, pre-slurry the ALLY® XP in clean water prior to adding

to the tank. This will prevent the tank mix partner from interfering with the dissolution of the ALLY® XP.Do not use ALLY® XP with spray additives that reduce the pH of the spray solution to below 3.0.

SPRAY EQUIPMENTFor specific application equipment, refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations for additional information on GPA, pressure, speed,nozzle types and arrangements, nozzle heights above the target canopy, etc. Be sure to calibrate air or ground equipment properly before application. Select a spray volume and delivery system that will ensurethorough coverage and a uniform spray pattern with minimum drift. Use higher spray volumes to obtain better coverage when thecrop canopy is dense. Avoid swath overlapping, and shut off spray booms while starting, turning, slowing, or stopping to avoid cropinjury. Do not make applications using equipment and/or spray volumes or under weather conditions that might cause spray to drift ontonontarget sites. For additional information on spray drift, refer to the Spray Drift Management section of the label. Continuous agitation is required to keep ALLY® XP in suspension.

SPRAYER CLEANUPSpray equipment must be cleaned before ALLY® XP is sprayed. Follow the cleanup procedures specified on the labels of previouslyapplied products. If no directions are provided, follow the six steps outlined in After Spraying ALLY® XP section of this label.

At the End of the Day When multiple loads of ALLY® XP herbicide are applied, it is recommended that at the end of each day of spraying, the interior ofthe tank be rinsed with fresh water and then partially filled, and the boom and hoses flushed. This will prevent the buildup of driedpesticide deposits that can accumulate in the application equipment.
