The plant, which will purify process water for a manufacturing company, will be built by US-based GE Osmonics, an affiliate of the General Electric group. Inge says that a pilot facility, run for three months at the site, proved that its patented UF membranes could successfully purify water without the use of disinfection chemicals. The proposed filtration system is designed to first purify and clean surface and recycled water using Inge’s membrane filters. In a second stage the water will be desalted by reverses osmosis. The resulting process water then can be used for producing pharmaceuticals or plastics. The UF plant will have a capacity of more than 2000 m 3 per hour. The first modules are set to be delivered in the second quarter of 2004, while the entire plant is are scheduled to be completed about six months later.
