0For this example, I will be using a rubric adapted from Dr. Nielsen of the University of Northern Iowa

0Go to the Rubrics Button in the Course Tools

0Click on “Create Rubric”

0Change Rubric Type to Points – Unless you are familiar with the other types

0Above is the default rubric template. You can add columns and rows, and rename existing columns and rows.

0Then enter your point values and text (definition, traits, or examples to achieve each “Level of Achievement” for each “Criteria”

0Once all data is filled in …. Click “Submit” at the bottom of the page. Note – on the rubric above the total is 12 points possible.

Deploying a Bb Rubric

0You can deploy a rubric for a blog, journal, wiki, discussion board, or assignment

0You can deploy a blog on a new item or one that has already been created

0Go to the options section for the item you wish to grade with a rubric. – The above example is a discussion board, but you will use the same steps for a blog, journal, wiki, or assignment.

0 Select “Grade Discussion Forum”0 Select “Add Rubric”

0 IMPORTANT: You must change the above setting to Yes (With Rubric Scores) for your students to see the rubric.

Grading Using a Bb Rubric

0Begin by going to the item like you normally would.0Next to the “Current Grade Value” box you will see

“View Rubric”.

0 The rubric will then appear.0 You can click on the appropriate “Level of Achievement”

and add feedback for each score.0 When you are finished click “Save” at the bottom of the

screen.

0After clicking “Save”, you will be back at the “Grade Details” page

0 IMPORTANT: You must then click “Save” on this page for the grade to be recorded in the grade book.

What the Student Sees …0 In an assignment, the student will be given a button

that says “View Rubric”0 In all other items, you must go to the grade book to

view the rubric.

0As long as the item is available, the students will be able to see the rubric.

0After the grade is entered, the students will be able to see the rubric that the instructor “filled out”
