In Excel 2013 and 2016 there is a function called Flash Fill that allows you to combine cell contents. In the cell D2 below I have typed in Emilia Abbey, combining cell A2 and cell B2.

As I begin to type the second name in the list Excel pre-fills all the other cells in that column.

To complete the Flash Fill, press Enter.

If Flash Fill doesn’t automatically fill out, select at least two cells and hold down the right mouse button and use the fill handle to drag down your list.

When you reach the end of your selection, let go of the right mouse button and select the Flash Fill option.
