Fly to Search Bar Top, Left side of screen. The Fly to search bar allows you to search an: Address Zip code City Country Landmark Try searching for your home address. Drag the Pegman icon (right side) to your location to view as StreetView Use your arrow keys and scroll bar for easy navigation. Layers Left side of screen. Layers allow you view only the features you choose. Layers can be changed quickly and easily. Tip: Do not turn on too many layers at one time. Try adding and removing various layers to any location you choose. 3D Trees Using the Layers menu, click on 3 D Buildings Then click on Trees Try typing Central Park, NYC into the Fly to bar, then activate the 3D tree option in Street View Street View Pegman Places Left side of screen. Temporary Searches Will erase once you exit out of Google Earth My Places Will save for future use. This is where you will find your Placemarked locations. Create Tour Folders here Earth Gallery Next to Layers tab Contains featured tours Alternate databases for locating information to include in tours and presentations. Earth / Sky / Mars / Moon Along the top menu bar, this button will allow you to change views between Earth / Sky / Mars / Moon. Creating a Tour When you create a tour, you will first need to Placemark your locations with the pushpin icon, then you will record your tour as you travel from one location to another. Lets Create a Tour Together 1 st Step: Add a Placemark Use the Fly to search bar to locate your school address. Once you have found your desired location, create a placemark by clicking on the icon that looks like a pushpin. If you want to use mine: 2222 Bakewell St. Toledo, OH 43605 Lets Create a Tour Together 2 nd Step: Edit the Placemark Once you have added a Placemarker, you can... Change pushpin icon Add a description Add an image Add a description to your School Placemaker. Remember it will be displayed during the tour. Lets Create a Tour Together Next: Add another Placemark Use the Fly to search bar to locate Veterans Glass City Skyway Bridge, Toledo OH. Once you have found your desired location, create a placemark by clicking on the icon that looks like a pushpin. Locate a photo on the internet, right click and hit copy shortcut, then paste into the Edit Placemark box under Add Image Also, add a description for display during the tour. Lets Create a Tour Together Next: Add another Placemark Use the Fly to search bar to locate The Huntington Center, Toledo OH. Once you have found your desired location, create a placemark by clicking on the icon that looks like a pushpin. Locate a photo on the internet, right click and hit copy shortcut, then paste into the Edit Placemark box under Add Image Also, add a description for display during the tour. Lets Create a Tour Together Next: Add another Placemark Use the Fly to search bar to locate 5/3 Field, Toledo OH. Once you have found your desired location, create a placemark by clicking on the icon that looks like a pushpin. Locate a photo on the internet, right click and hit copy shortcut, then paste into the Edit Placemark box under Add Image Also, add a description for display during the tour. Lets Create a Tour Together Next: Add another Placemark Use the Fly to search bar to locate Toledo Zoo, Toledo OH. Once you have found your desired location, create a placemark by clicking on the icon that looks like a pushpin. Locate a photo on the internet, right click and hit copy shortcut, then paste into the Edit Placemark box under Add Image Also, add a description for display during the tour. Lets Create a Tour Together Next: Add another Placemark Use the Fly to search bar to locate Cedar Point, Sandusky OH. Once you have found your desired location, create a placemark by clicking on the icon that looks like a pushpin. Locate a photo on the internet, right click and hit copy shortcut, then paste into the Edit Placemark box under Add Image Also, add a description for display during the tour. Lets Create a Tour Folder Right Click on My Places Click Add Click Folder Name it Toledo Tour Drag all of your locations into the Toledo Tour Folder Order the locations for your tour Lets Record the Tour Click the Record Icon from the top menu. Begin at your first location (your school) by double- clicking it in your Tour Folder Lets Record the Tour Next, hit the red Record button at the bottom left side of your screen. You will know it is recording because the timer will begin counting up. Continue clicking through your locations making sure you stop long enough for your information to be read. EVERYTHING you click on, or change during the recording will be part of your TOUR. Classroom IdeasPlease search through several activities and find one that would work for your classroom. Be prepared to share out a brief summary of your new discovery Tracking the Apollo Moon Missions Your Turn... Create a classroom activity for your own classroom. First create a Teacher Example so that you can work out all of the issues before creating assignment requirements. After you have completed your example tour, begin creating some student tips, guidelines, and assignment requirements. Have fun, and ask for help if you need it
