Using Multiple Browser Tabs

The best way to use the E-Track facilitator training materials is to have one browser tab with your training materials visible and another browser tab with your E-Track facilitator record open. This makes it easy to quickly switch back and forth between reading/viewing the training instructions and trying the steps yourself in the system. If you’re unfamiliar with using browser tabs, the next few pages will walk you through it.

To begin, open your Internet browser. We are using Internet Explorer in this example. Once open, click on the empty tab (circled below) next to the tab identifying your default browser homepage. This will open a second browser tab from which you can navigate to a second website.

In your new browser tab, try navigating to the E-Track Training Site for Facilitators: http://www.ocwtp.net/e-track/FacilTrng.html. Notice in the resulting window below that you now have two separate websites open in two separate labeled tabs: one with the Google search page (this example’s default homepage) and a second with the E-Track Training Site for Facilitators. You can easily toggle between the open sites by clicking on their labeled tabs. You could even open more tabs by continuing to click the blank tab to the right of your open tabs.

To show how to use tabs to facilitate learning E-Track, click on your first tab (Google Search Page in this example) and then navigate to the E-Track Facilitator Login Page: https://e-track.teds.com/teds/. Having both the E-Track Facilitator Training page and the E-Track Facilitator environment open on separate tabs allows you to toggle between viewing training instructions and using what you’re learning.

It’s important to note that another nice thing about working in browser tabs is that you can close an individual browser tab without closing your entire browser window. To close an individual tab, simply click on the “x” at the right of that tab’s label.
