2AIMS AND OBJECTIVE

To contribute to the literature on how chronic disease management

web portals can be made more responsive.

To iteratively design and develop an illustrative prototype

responsive web portal for cancer care.

The aims and the objective of the research are,

3RESEARCH QUESTION

How can the user experience of chronic diseasemanagement portals for clinicians be enhanced byusing responsive web design?

A website should gracefully respond to every device.Either you use a PC, mobile or even a TV.

When a user has had a positive experience with a mobile website, 67% of them will usethe service.

When a user arrives on a mobile website and does not see the content that they are searching for immediately, 61% will leave.

When a site does not function on their mobile device, 48% of users feel that the company does not care for their business.

9SUMMARY

Chronic diseases are a burden. They must be managed properly and effectively.

Managing Chronic diseases is complex, needs communication and collaboration between patient and clinicians.

One effective solution is to use disease management web portals.

Mobile web is fast becoming the norm. Users expect websites to be responsive.

If the portals can offer better user experience on mobile devices, more and more people would use them often, making chronic disease management effective.

11RESEARCH STRATEGY

To use grounded theory to analyse data collected using single case study strategy to

build the theory

To use design science research to iteratively build

a technology artefact

13OTHER KEY POINTS

1. The focus is on the colorectal (bowel) cancer.

2. At an oncology department of a leading tertiary private medical facility.

3. With clinicians treating cancer at target site.

TARGET SELECTION

DATA COLLECTION

1. Questionaries and surveys.

2. Interviews with participants, on record, with supporting notes.

3. Focus group discussions.

4. Real-time ratings and user comments.

Human ethical guidelines and requirementsof all participating institutions will befollowed and honoured.

HUMAN ETHICS

1. No feedback from patients.

2. Data security, fault tolerance and redundancy.

3. A illustrative prototype, not a fully fledged

solution.
