Look at the illustrations in books. Many of the characters are made using shapes. Help the students to see the shapes in the illustrations and have students try to draw these characters using the shapes to guide them.

Some examples of characters drawn using shapes:

Don’t let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems. o The pigeon, duckling and pig all can be drawn using simple shapes.
