From a Recruiter’s Lens
The number one social media source is LinkedIn and we look at four key areas:
1. Your story a.k.a. your reputation
2. Consistency
3. Believability
4. Accuracy
Your Professional Image
1. Build a compelling profile
2. Make strategic connections
3. Engage and cultivate a network
Build a Compelling Profile
• In what areas/content sectors do you want to create a presence?
• What do you hope to achieve when people search for your name?
• What do you want them to see?
Make Strategic Connections
Engage and cultivate a network
• Join Groups
• Follow Companies
• Like and Comment on threads or
articles
The Unwritten Rules of Engagement Do’s: • Proof your work • Connect and interact • Be genuine in your outreach – standard templates are easily
recognized • Be mindful of the footprint you are leaving • Listen to what others are saying • Be a giver and not only a taker • Be honest and authentic – e.g., use your real name!
Don’ts: • Be inappropriate • Be impersonal • Like everything
