6. Enter vpn.nmt.edu in the Internet address: box, and NMT in the Destination name: box. Uncheck Re-member my credentials if you wish to enable password authentication for the VPN connection (addedsecurity). Click the Create button to finish.

7. Ignore the Networks pane for now. Instead, go back to the Network and Sharing Center window andclick Change adapter settings.

8. Right-click on the new NMT connection and select Properties from the context menu.

9. In the Properties dialog, first switch to the Security tab and choose Point to Point Tunneling Protocol(PPTP) from the Type of VPN: selection menu.

10. Then switch to the Networking tab, highlite Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and click the Prop-erties button to open the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window.

11. Choose the Use the following DNS server addresses: radio button, then enter 129.138.4.138 in the PreferredDNS server: box and 129.138.251.10 in the Alternate DNS server: box. Click the OK button in bothwindows to save the new settings.

then click the Connect button that appears.

2. Enter your NMT account name and password in the text boxes (if necessary), and click the OK button.

3. When you are through using the VPN, click the Network icon in the System Tray to show the Networkspane, select the NMT connection, and click the Disconnect button to close the connection.
