INTRODUCTION
BackgroundUtahns are served by a host of state officials, departments, boards, commissions, committees, and judges not tomention various local government units and subunits. Utah state government is extensive, varied, and complex.In fact, it is one of Utah's largest employers, employing over 22,000 persons as of January 2008. This publicationincludes organization charts for Utah's legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government as well asindependent governmental entities. As state government is ever changing, the Office of Legislative Research andGeneral Counsel updates this compilation of charts every two years.
The information in this report has been reviewed by the departments and the other major entities and reflectsstructures as of July 1, 2008.
