Proud history Established in 1931, the University of Wolverhampton Business School (UWBS) has a distinguished history of supporting business locally, regionally and internationally.

We were one of the first business schools in the country to offer the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme and have a tradition of innovation in developing courses which meet the needs of business and managers.

The School has over 50 full-time lecturers and professors drawn from a wide spectrum of business and management disciplines and backgrounds. Many have held senior positions in multinational and blue chip organisations whilst others have worked in the public sector or for non-profit organisations.

Professional accreditation Our relationships with professional bodies result in our provision being informed by the latest professional practice. We have excellent partnerships with industry and strong links with professional bodies such as the Institute of Directors, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

The Business School is an accredited study and examination centre for the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Research-informed courses Our research-engaged staff advise managers, organisations and government; their work contributes to making sure all our courses are research-informed and contemporary. In the last research assessment exercise (RAE), Wolverhampton Business School outperformed other post 1992 universities in the region in the area of business.

We are committed to testing the boundaries of knowledge through applied research. We have a vibrant community of business researchers within designated research clusters including: Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Corporate Governance and Ethics, and HRM and Industrial Relations.

Residential opportunity All full-time students will go on a residential visit as part of their studies. Supporting your studiesLearning and teaching Our courses utilise a variety of teaching and learning activities. You will attend lectures, workshops and tutorials and can expect guest lectures and company visits as part of your course. Most students will attend a residential visit. Finance and Accounting students have the opportunity to visit the London Stock Exchange.

Employability The University offers internships and short placements as well as providing support on interview skills and elements of the job application process.

Professional accreditation The course has CMI professional body recognition and is accredited to CMI Level 7 Diploma. Overview The MBA is an internationally recognised qualification. This course is designed to develop your understanding of key business functions and their relationship with the wider strategic and international environment. You will explore leadership, organisational change and transformation, innovation and stakeholder management.

Through a range of learning experiences such as live case studies and guest lecturer talks, you will deepen your understanding of business and management concepts and principles, theoretical frameworks, and applied analysis. You will also develop key skills in formulating and managing research, presentations, problem-solving and organising and managing group-based projects.

Who should study this course?You will have a minimum of two years’ general management work experience at an operational or functional level and are looking to progress to a more senior/strategic role.

OverviewThe MSc International Banking and Finance will develop your knowledge and equip you with the skills to solve complex problems facing the international banking and finance environment. You will explore a range of highly topical issues relevant to international banking and finance, including the importance of international financial markets, foreign exchange markets, and the role of multinational banks as well as corporate governance, regulation, and risk management. Entry requirements

For entry onto our Masters programmes you will need:

• a First or Second Class undergraduate Honours degree from a UK university or overseas equivalent, or a professional qualification and/or experience considered to be equivalent to the above;

• a reference from a tutor who has supervised your undergraduate studies, or your employer.

If you do not meet these requirements, you may find the Masters Entry Programme on page 13 a suitable route into Masters level study.

In addition, for the MBA: you will have normally occupied a position of management responsibility for a minimum of two years within an organisation.

In addition, for the MSc International Banking and Finance: you will need a first or second class undergraduate honours degree (or overseas equivalent) in a related field such as accounting and finance, banking, economics or subjects aligned to mathematics and engineering.

Wolverhampton, a city to be proud of

Wolverhampton is a city in the centre of England, a beautiful mix of historical buildings and modern developments. You’ll find a good choice of shops, art, sport, museums and theatres to suit everyone’s taste and its central location makes it ideal to explore the rest of the UK. London is less than a two-hour train ride and Birmingham, Britain’s second city is just 20 minutes away by train and links to Birmingham International Airport.

Tastes, sights and soundsThe city has plenty of restaurants and cafés offering cuisine from around the world, a cinema complex showing films from Hollywood to Bollywood, and ample shopping opportunities including a traditional market that dates back to the 13th century. There are two theatres in the city that play host to national touring productions of drama, musicals, ballet and opera. A short train-ride can take you to Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, where you can watch the world renowned Royal Shakespeare Company perform in their home venue.

World-class sportSports enthusiasts can watch the Championship team Wolverhampton Wanderers at their home football ground, Molineux, next to the University.

Wolverhampton also offers one of the busiest horse racecourses in the country, as well as greyhound racing and speedway at Monmore Green stadium. Not only that, it’s an easy commute to Edgbaston Cricket Ground, an international test match venue.
