THE PRAYER CHAINWhen Gina suffered a heart attack and cardiac arrest, her husband, Aaron, started a prayer chain and begged God for more time with his wife. Doctors said her condition looked grim, but Aaron knew the power of the God he called upon. See how the Lord answered his prayers.

THE PULL OF FORGIVENESSCornelia spent years broken and suffering with PTSD from the abuse she received as a child. None of the drugs, alcohol or self-harm made her feel better for long. But one day on her commute she noticed something that caught her attention—and it changed her life. Don’t miss out on her story.

THE 160-POUND TURN-AROUNDSteve was extremely overweight, and as a pastor and a father, he felt like a bad example to his congregation and his family. It wasn’t until he changed how he thought about food and exercise that he began to see a difference. Watch Steve’s amazing transformation now.

AUGUST 2020A PRAYER FOR OUR CHILDREN

by Gordon Robertson President and CEO, CBN

Our heavenly Father, You commanded us to be fruitful and multiply. You commanded us to teach Your commandments to our children.

You did this so the world would be replenished and that our children would turn to You.

You summon each new generation since the beginning, and so we ask that You summon this generation.

We ask that You open their eyes to see Your works, open their ears to hear Your words, and give them a heart of understanding so that they would know the greatness of Your power.

Grant them secure and peaceful marriages, filled with love and honour, so that the generations that follow would walk before You, and live in the awe of Your presence.

We know that just one prayer can last for a thousand generations, and so, we ask for this generation to know You.

Forgive us our debts and be our salvation, for without You we perish. We turn to You and Your righteousness.

May the Redeemer come to us and our children, and buy back those who have turned from their sins.

Establish Your new covenant with us. May Your Spirit never leave us. May Your Word never leave us.

May Your Word be on our lips and on the lips of our children and our children’s children forever.

Amen. –Gordon Robertson

As children prepare to go back to school during these unprecedented times, Gordon Robertson invites you to join him in praying this prayer for the next generation.

“God says in His Word that He will never leave us and we can trust God with everything. But bad things do happen even when we trust Him. What exactly are we trusting Him for?”LORIE: Well, that’s a good question. Jesus said Himself that bad things will happen in this world: “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me” (John 16:32 niv). And then He encourages us: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (v. 33). The promise of Jesus is that He is with us in trouble—that is our greatest peace and assurance. And that is what we put our trust in.

For centuries, the Bible was the only written evidence that King David existed. Only recently have archaeologists unearthed physical evidence confirming the dynasty or house of David.

Gordon Robertson and noted archaeologists follow the long-buried trail of evidence left by Israel’s greatest kings. Plunge deep beneath modern Jerusalem to explore layers of hidden history. Discover ancient cedarwood believed to be used by Phoenician King Hiram to build furniture for David’s palace. Written in Stone: House of David will strengthen your faith as you witness how archaeology affirms the truth of the Bible!

THE 700 CLUB CANADA

I love opening doors for people. It’s a simple gesture that brings a smile to many. The main message and truth of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus

Christ can be summarized in one word: Reconciliation. Reconciliation acknowledges that we were once separated from God as a result of our sin, and we need to be brought back into a relationship with God. To be reconciled we need someone to open the door to God. Jesus is the great door opener! He paid for our sins and opened up the way back to God. This is the Good News and the call of the 700 Club Canada, to be door openers. And it’s your call too! Here’s what 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 says:

And God has made all things new, and reconciled us to himself, and given us the ministry of reconciling others to God. In other words, it was through the Anointed One that God was shepherding the world, not even keeping records of their transgressions, and he has entrusted to us the ministry of opening the door of reconciliation to God. We are ambassadors of the Anointed One who carry the message of Christ to the world (The Passion Translation).

There it is! Those who have been reconciled to God through Christ have a mission. It’s the mission of God to open the door of reconciliation to everyone! We are door openers! We are ambassadors! We are entrusted with this door-opening ministry of reconciliation.

What a privilege and joy this is. We get to be on a mission with God. Ask God how you can open a door of reconciliation today.

THE 700 CLUB CANADA

Summer has historically been a wonderful time to gather in our communities from coast to coast, to proudly celebrate all we have in

common as Canadians. This year, due to the pandemic and safe distancing, many celebrations will be virtual. Summer 2020 is truly going down as a defining moment.

The beautiful truth is that defining moments give witness to the fact that Almighty God is active and working in and through our lives! The Scripture etched on our treasured Peace Tower, “He shall have dominion from sea to sea,” will be translated in nearly all of the languages of the world as new Canadians are being sworn into full Canadian citizenship. Defining moments are designed to bring us back to a full focus on Psalm 72:8, He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth (nkjv). By giving us defining moments, Almighty God is actually enabling in us divine faith, which in turn produces a conviction to accomplish the divine task that He has for us! The founding fathers of our nation passed the test in their defining moment. How will history record this, our defining moment?

Defining moments never happen from a place of comfort and ease. In spite of social distancing and COVID-19 restrictions, as the church in Canada let’s allow Almighty God to push us out of our comfort zones so we can accomplish His divine task—taking the Gospel from coast to coast, and changing history for His glory!

Scientists now tell us the Standard American Diet (SAD) causes even more deaths than smoking. This diet largely consists of ultra-

processed foods loaded with chemicals, added sugars, and industrial oils.

A growing number of doctors and health experts recommend replacing the SAD diet with one full of whole, plant-based foods. Whole foods are ones that are as close to their original state as possible, and plant-based foods, as the name suggests, are those

that grow out of the ground.Every 37 seconds someone in America dies from heart disease.

Cardiologists like Dr. Deepak Talreja urge patients to switch to a whole-food, plant-based diet, like one of the ones below: • Vegan: Consisting of 100% plant food, with no animal products • Vegetarian: Mostly plants but some eggs and dairy foods• Pescatarian: Mostly plants but some eggs, dairy and seafood• Flexitarian: Mostly plants but some eggs, dairy, seafood, poultry and meat

But can it really change your life? According to Dr. Michael Greger, it can. He says when doctors couldn’t treat his 65-year-old grandmother’s heart disease, they sent her home to die. However, he recalls when she started eating a plant-based diet, she reversed her heart disease and lived to 96! Now as a physician, Dr. Greger tries to make the same difference in the lives of his patients and says that a plant-based diet is “the only diet ever proven to reverse heart disease in the majority of patients, opening up arteries without drugs, without surgery.”

Always consult with your doctor before making any changes to your diet.

700 CLUB CANADA PARTNERS ARE INFORMING AND GIVING HOPE TO THE NATION OF CANADAYou Bring Hope Through 700 Club Canada and CBN News Newswatch

One of the first casualties of the COVID-19 pandemic was hope. Disturbing reports about how little was known about the virus, how it spreads, and how to combat it brought dire predictions about the future. “I had to stop watching regular news,” said Cherry, a viewer. “It was so depressing. Now I only watch CBN News.”

With mainstream media outlets focused on the kind of negative news that draws ratings, CBN News brought both accurate information and hope. In Canada CBN News Newswatch can be seen on JoyTV at 6 p.m. PT and online 24/7 at CBNNews.com.

CBN News shared the story of Christina, a New York resident who had survived 9/11 and found herself facing another life-or-death situation when she was diagnosed with COVID-19. “It was definitely a battle,” she said. “And you were very cognizant that you were in a battle for your life.”

Christina was hospitalized twice, and doctors said she had a 50/50 chance of survival, but she had worked in missions and had many people around the world praying for her. Once she began to recover, she spoke with CBN News, and said, “Prayer is everything. And I invoked the name of Jesus Christ quite a bit during this past month. And there is power in

that name and there is power in prayer.”As the world continued a chaotic spiral that included civil unrest,

once again 700 Club Canada partners made it possible to broadcast a message of hope with interviews discussing how God was at work in the midst of the social strife.

At a time when our nation desperately needed hope, CBN News not only provided accurate, unbiased reporting, but went farther, going from informing to inspiring. 700 Club Canada strives to be a light in the darkness, focusing on stories that highlight a path forward in the midst of the darkest times. We remain grateful for the faithfulness of generous partners that allows 700 Club Canada to view current events through the eyes of faith.

700 Club Canada partners demonstrate the love of Jesus each day. You feed the hungry, provide for the sick and destitute, and so much more. You are the hands and feet of Christ to the weak and least among us.

THE PULL OF FORGIVENESSCornelia spent years broken and suffering with PTSD from the abuse she received as a child. None of the drugs, alcohol or self-harm made her feel better for long.
