Reveal-S™ Sublimation Transfer Media for CottonA self-weeding sublimation transfer film that allows sublimators to decorate

light colored cotton or blended fabrics using almost any ink jet sublimation printer.

  • What Reveal-S does:The Reveal-S film, a true technology breakthrough from Vivid Chemical, allows for

the decoraon of bold graphics onto white and light colored 100% co on & blended

fabrics using sublimaon ink. In addion, it is a single step self-weeding film,

meaning that no visible polymer is released in blank areas of a graphic. The Reveal

method produces very bold colors with exceponal wash durability.

What Reveal-S does NOT do:Design your graphic using bold colors! Reveal-S will not transfer light or medium

colors. Also, Reveal-S should not be used for photograph reproducon. It is designed

for white and lightly colored shirts. It is not recommended for medium or dark colors.

How Reveal-S works:During the heat press process, the sublimaon ink that was printed on the film begins to

sublimate into the “Smart Polymer” coang on the film. This Smart Polymer selecvely

releases from the film, melng onto the fibers of the fabric. Unlike tradional sublimaon

to polyester which has no hand (meaning you can’t feel the areas decorated), you will feel

the Reveal-S Smart Polymer on the surface of the fabric. The Smart Polymer will selecvely

release if a medium to high density of the ink is present. This means that artwork with

medium to bold colors will transfer. Aer transferring, the sublimaon inks now live inside

the a ached Smart Polymer, since sublimaon inks will not adhere to the co on.

Unlike tradional transfer media, the Reveal-S Smart Polymer does not leave a visible

polymer window in blank areas, allowing the decorang of light colored shirts. Reveal-S

and Smart Polymer is a patent-pending technology breakthrough.

  • Tradional Ink Jet TransferA tradional ink-jet transfer paper is coated

with a solid “emulsion film” to trap and suspend

liquid ink in order to apply your design to a fabric.

Unless the excess film is cut away before heang, the

enre emulsion film is applied to the fabric. Usually,

emulsion film transfers are barely visible when applied

to a white fabric. They also leave a significant hand.

However, emulsion films from tradional ink-jet

transfer papers become visible when they are

applied to a colored fabric. The more color

within the fabric, the more visible the emulsion

    film appears on that fabric.

Reveal-S “Smart Coang”TechnologyReveal-S employs “Smart Coang” Technology,

where the emulsion film only releases where

sublimaon inks are sprayed onto the film.

When heat is applied to the Reveal-S Film, dye-sub

inks chemically combine with the Smart Coang

polymer network and adhere to the garment. Areas

of the Smart Coang with no sublimaon ink stay on

the Reveal-S film and do not transfer to the garment,

making the Reveal-S “Sublimaon-to-Co on” film

the first self-weeding ink jet transfer product!

No physical trimming of your design from the film is required.

  • Reveal-S Acceptable Artwork:Reveal-S film is for clip art, line art, and vector art designs ONLY. Design your graphics

to use only bold colors. Light to medium colors will not acvate the smart polymer

coang on the film. Reveal-S should not be used for photographic reproducons. It

will be helpful to print and transfer our Reveal-S Basic RGB or Reveal-S Full RGB color

charts to aid in the selecon of colors. Download the charts at .www.conde.com/reveal

    Reveal-S Prinng:Before loading the Reveal-S film

into your printer’s paper tray, first

place two sheets of plain paper

(that matches the Reveal-S film size)

    into the paper tray.

Load the Reveal-S film on top of the two sheets of plain paper so that you print on

the ma e/rough side of the film. For Ricoh and Virtuoso printers, place the film with

the ma e/rough side (print side) face down in the bo om tray. If using the bypass

tray, place film ma e/rough (print side) face up.

Print in MIRROR IMAGE with sublimaon ink. For best results, we recommend using

our Reveal printer se ngs. These se ngs are different from normal sublimaon

se ngs and help to opmize the Reveal film. To receive those printer se ngs,

visit or call 800-826-6332 (press “2” for tech support).www.conde.com/reveal

Remove the film from the printer’s output tray as quickly as possible, as some

sublimaon inks dry slowly. If the ink is wet, avoid mulple sheets piling up in the

printer’s output tray. Handle the film carefully to prevent wet ink from smearing.

For best results, Reveal-S should be applied to a garment within 4 hours of prinng.

  • • Set your heat press:

    Temperature: 375 degrees F

    Dwell Time: 25 seconds

    Pressure: Heavy

    • Place the shirt in your press and

use a lint roller over the area to be

    decorated (You may decorate a

100% co on or co on-poly blend,

white or light colored shirt. See

    www.conde.com/reveal for

    examples of light colored shirts).

    • Pre-press the shirt for about 5 seconds without locking the press closed.

Just use the weight of the platen (See videos at ).www.conde.com/reveal

    • Place the Reveal-S film with the print side face down on the shirt in the desired

orientaon and posion (Because the film is clear, you can see your image to aid

in posioning. Also double check that your design now appears “right reading”

indicang the print side is indeed against the shirt). For best results, try to keep

the Reveal-S film at the center of your heat press platen.

    • close and lock the press with heavy pressure atWithout using a cover sheet,

    375 degrees F for 25 seconds.

    • Aer 25 seconds, open the press and rub the film with a cloth or mousepad for

3-5 seconds. Hot peel the film by pulling the film parallel with the fabric. Gently

stretch the garment from the sides to help soen the feel or “hand” of the design.

Verify proper release of the decorated secons of the smart polymer. If some parts•

did not transfer, look to see if these secons were designed with bold colors. It

may be necessary to replace colors that are not bold enough. For help with color

selecon, download our bold color charts at .www.conde.com/reveal

  • Q: How should I store the unprinted Reveal-S™ film when it is not being used?

A: The film should be stored in the original package when not in use.

Q: What is the shelf life of the Reveal-S™ film?

A: When stored properly, the Reveal-S™ film has a shelf life of one year.

Q: Do I need to prepress my garment before using the Reveal-S™?

A: If the Relave Humidity under 40%, it is safe to transfer the image without

prepressing the garment. If the Relave Humidity is between 40% and 60%, prepress

the garment for 3-5 seconds to remove the excess moisture. In a moist work

environment with humidity levels exceeding 60%, a longer prepress may be

necessary to remove the extra moisture.

Q: Ink from the printed image is damp & smears onto the back of the next film in the

printer tray. How can I stop the ink from smearing on the next sheet of Reveal?

A: If the ink is damp, remove the printed film from the output tray aer the image has

been printed. Prevent mulple sheets from stacking in the output tray. If the ink on

the film is extremely wet, adjust the artwork to avoid oversaturang the film.

Q: I am seeing very faint ink dots that appear to be tracking down the image in very

dense areas of ink. What is causing this issue?

A: The “Pizza Wheel” effect is caused by excessive ink in the print (somemes seen on

the SG400). It may be necessary to reduce ink levels in the artwork to help minimize

the effects of oversaturang the film.

Q: The colors appear funny or different than the artwork displayed on the monitor.

Did I change something by mistake?

A: Ensure that the Reveal-S™ printer se ngs are set as the default se ngs. Printer

se ngs for all supported machines can be found at .www.conde.com/reveal

Q: What do I change if the image is not fully transferring to the garment?

A: Raise the heat press temperature by 5° F, allowing the press to cycle before

    transferring another image.

Q: I’m sll having issues with the image fully transferring to the garment. What

    should I try next?

A: a) Raise the heat press temperature by another 5° F, allowing the press to cycle before

transferring another image. b) It may be necessary to raise the pressure ¼ of a turn.

    Frequently Asked Quesons

     800-826-6332 www.conde.com

  • Q: The film seems parally molten & scks to the shirt. What’s happening to the film?

A: The heat press is significantly ho er than the standard set point. Lower the

temperature by 10° F, and transfer another image. If the film sll scks to the

garment, try lowering the temperature another 5-10° F.

Q: What do I change if the unimaged areas of the film release too much emulsion?

A: Lower the heat press temperature by 5° F, allowing the press to cycle before

    transferring another image.

Q: What else do I change if the unimaged areas of the film connue to release too

    much to the garment?

A: a) Lower the heat press temperature by another 5° F, allowing the press to cycle

before pressing another image. b) It may be necessary to lower the pressure 1/2 of a

turn from the original set point.

Q: All of the heat press se ngs are correct, but I sll have issues with light colors

releasing from the film. I know these colors should work; I have used them in the

past. What is causing this issue?

A: Co on fabric is sourced all over the world, and the can fluctuate from lot to lot. It is

strongly recommended to test a shirt from a new batch before beginning mass

    producon.

Q: What is causing a dark square around the transferred image?

A: Reveal-S™ is made for white and lightly colored shirts. Ensure you are using a

shirt designed for this product. Recommended shirt colors can be found at

    www.conde.com/reveal.

Q: What is the quickest and most effecve way to select safe colors to use when

creang artwork for co on garments?

A: It is highly recommended to create a complete color chart using Reveal-S™

film to provide a repeatable set of colors to use when creang graphics. You will find

color charts for Reveal-S™ at .www.conde.com/reveal

Q: What are the garment care instrucons for Reveal-S™?

A: Please refer to the wash instrucons detailed at .www.conde.com/reveal
