Tim Slade – The Bio

2010 saw Tim achieve a season best finish of 16th, racing with the front running Ford team, Stone Brothers Racing with long-time supporter James Rosenburg. In August 2011, he continued to improve his form with a top two finish on home turf at the Queensland Raceway (Round 8, Race 18) which led to a ninth placing overall for the International V8 Supercar series.

Now entering his fourth year of full time racing in the V8 Supercars Championship, Tim begins the 2012 series with a considerable edge in a brand new V8 Ford Falcon FG Supercar. With the car tailored to fit his build, Tim and his team, along with naming rights sponsor, Lucky 7, have high expectations for 2012.

Tim’s race circuit of choice is Bathurst and he never leaves home without a strawberry chapstick.

Tim Slade is an international V8 Supercar racing hero who lives on the Gold Coast. Originally from McLaren Vale in South Australia, the 26 year old is one of Australia’s brightest racing stars, with a big future ahead.

Tim made his national motor racing debut in 2004, driving in the Australian Formula 3 Championship, where he won his first race in his rookie season. He was named Australian Formula Ford Championship Runner Up in 2006, and continued racing open wheelers until 2007. It was then he moved into the world of V8 Supercars, racing with ANT Racing in a Ford BA Falcon.

In 2008 Tim formed his own team “Slade Speed” in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar series and won the first race and round of the season, an achievement he cites as his most memorable racing moment.

In 2009 his career began to flourish as Tim stepped up into the ‘main game’ of V8 Supercars. The first choice replacement for retiring veteran Paul Morris in the Supercheap Auto Racing Holden Team, he made his V8 series debut on the 21st March, 2009 at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide. That same year he claimed a commendable top ten overall result in endurance races at Phillip Island and Mount Panorama.

new Ford Falcon V8 Supercar at Queensland Raceway

Staff Writers at Speed, February 8th, 2012

Stone Brothers Racing rising star Tim Slade has unveiled and shaken down his brand new Ford Falcon

V8 Supercar at Queensland Raceway in Ipswich.

The car will be the last of the current era cars built by Stone Brothers Racing, with the multiple championship and Bathurst-winning squad starting the construction of their Car of the Future Fords which will debut in 2013.

After three seasons in the V8 Supercars main game, Slade has improved significantly on his previous championship results placing 23rd, 16th and 9th repsectively. Slade is looking to climb the ladder even further in 2012. "We finished ninth last year, we have to better that," said Slade. "Last year we showed flashes of form but we need to improve our consistency week in, week out.

"I’d expect a top eight this year in the championship, a few more podiums and we'll be chasing for that first win pretty hard as well."Read more: http://www.v8supercars.com.au/championship/newsarticle/2011-in-review-tim-slade/tabid/70/newsid/12055/default.aspx

Tim Slade Gives New Car, New Look Shakedown

Speed Café,Wednesday 8th Feb, 2012

Tim Slade has given his brand-new Lucky 7 Racing Ford Falcon FG the thumbs up after a shakedown test at Queensland Raceway.

The Stone Brothers Racing driver got 20 laps behind the wheel of his new car – one of just two brand-new cars for the 2012 season (Jonathon Webb shook his Commodore VE down at QR yesterday).

Slade used the shakedown to reveal his 2012 look, featuring more white on his Lucky 7-backed entry.“The first laps in the new car were pretty cool, it’s a shame that we only get 20 laps,” said Tim Slade…

For Slade, driving the newest Ford Falcon FG in the series (and the last of its kind before the 2013 season sees the introduction of the Car of the Future) is exciting. He hopes it will be the best car he’s ever driven.

2011 in Review: Tim Slade

Bigpond Sport, 28th December 2011

LUCKY 7 Racing's Tim Slade really stamped his mark on the championship this year, with 13 top-10 finishes in just his third

season as a full-time driver.

His standout performance at Queensland Raceway, where he was the only one to take it up to TeamVodafone, thrilled Ford fans and signalled he'll be one to watch in 2012.

BigPond Sport chatted with Slade about his 2011 season and what's in store next year...

• Championship Position: 9th

• Best Result: 2nd (Ipswich x2)

• Best Qualifying: 2nd (Ipswich)

What is your highlight of this season? Definitely Queensland Raceway by far. Three podiums from three starts. From practice through to the final race I don't think we were outside the top three all weekend…

Tim sows the seeds of

V8 successCara Jenkins, The Advertiser, March 10th 2010

WORKING in the vineyards of McLaren Vale gave Adelaide V8 Supercar driver Tim Slade a good

grounding in driving a tractor.

The motor-racing young gun, 24, now has plans to plough his way through the field in this week's Clipsal 500 Adelaide in a Ford Falcon V8 Supercar.

Thanks to the backing of SA farm machinery dealer James Rosenberg, who bought a licence to race one of the 29 cars in the V8 Supercar championship this year, Slade will be vying to take home the Clipsal 500 title for the Stone Brothers Racing Team.

Slade will be the first South Australian driver for a South Australian-owned licensee in V8 Supercars.

He said his home event, which begins on Thursday, was the biggest and best of the year…

Supercar Success with Dexion Racing

Bigpond Sport, 4th January 2007

Dexion Racing will return to contest the Fujitsu V8 Supercar championship series in 2007 with Formula Ford sensation Tim Slade behind the wheel of the teams BA Falcon.

Experienced driver and team owner Tony Evangelou, who finished 14th in the 2006 championship despite missing the final round whilst making his V8 Supercar championship debut – will take a hands-on approach as team owner, overseeing Slade’s debut year in V8 Supercar competition.

Slade, 20, set the Formula Ford world on fire in 2006, finishing a narrow second in the championship thanks to a series of storming performances that have established the young Victorian-based South Australian as a star of the very near future.

Tim won five races in 2006, scored three consecutive pole positions and set a number of new lap records.

Slade joined the Dexion team midway through the 2006 season and tested the Dexion Racing BA Falcon in the latter half of the year. More testing is planed before the start of the new season.

The early conformation of his 2007 plans has given Tim a strong lead up for the new racing year…

• He lives in Queensland, however still calls Adelaide ‘home’ and enjoys keeping fit.

• He started his career racing go-karts and his first job was picking grapes.
