This bike has been designed to offer you optimal back support during your workout.

This product is equipped with a magnetic transmission system for optimal and smooth pedaling comfort.

 GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Read all the instructions carefully before using your product.

2. Check your fitness level with your medical practitioner. This is especially important for persons over the age of 35 or persons with pre-existing health problems.

3. The owner is responsible for ensuring that all users of this product are properly informed as to how to use this product safely.

4. DOMYOS cannot be held liable for claims of injury or damage sustained by any person or property originating from the use or misuse of this product by the purchaser or by any other person.

5. Do not use this product in a commercial, rental, or institutional setting.

6. It is the user’s responsibility to inspect and if necessary tighten all parts before using the product.

7. Any assembly or disassembly of the product should be carried out with care.

8. Wear athletic shoes to protect your feet while exercising. Do not wear loose or baggy clothing, since it may get caught in the machine. Take off all jewellery. Put your hair up so that it does not get in the way during exercise.

9. Heart rate monitoring systems can be inaccurate. Straining may result in serious injuries and even death. You must stop your workout immediately if you have any pain or start to feel ill.

 SETTINGS

SEAT

In a sitting position with your back well-supported by the back rest, your knees must be slightly bent when the pedals are at their furthest point.

You must get off the bike before adjusting the seat position.

1. Unscrew the adjusting knob.2. Pull the knob out and adjust your seat to the desired position.3. Let go of the knob and check that it is fixed into one of the holes provided for this purpose.4. Tighten it completely.

PEDAL STRAPS

Undo the attachment under the pedal, adjust the strap and re-tighten the attachment.

STABILITY OF THE BIKE

Turn either or both of the two adjusting knobs situated on the bike’s back feet until it stops feeling wobbly.

RESISTANCE

This product is a product with autonomous speed. You can adjust the braking torque not just by the pedaling frequency but also by manually selecting the level of resistance (by turning the torque control button on non-motorised products, or by pushing the +/- buttons on motorised products). However, if you keep the same resistance level, the braking torque will increase/decrease as your pedal rate increases/decreases.

 TROUBLESHOOTING

If the distance or speed is not shown:

• Check the position of the switch on the back of the console:VM (Exercise bike): 1 pedal revolution = 4 mVE (Elliptical machine): 1 pedal revolution = 1.6 m

• Press the RESET button.

If there is an odd noise coming from inside the case:

• Check the table on the last page of your user’s guide.

If the console does not turn on:

• Check that the adaptor is connected to the bike.

• Check the cable connection at the back of the console and inside the frame.

• If the problem persists, check the table on the last page of your user’s guide.

 USE

If you are just starting out, begin by exercising for several days at a low speed, without forcing it, taking breaks if necessary. Gradually increase the number or duration of the sessions. Keep your back straight. When training, remember to ventilate the room in which you keep the bike.

Maintenance/Warm-up: Gradual effort starting with 10 minutes

For maintenance work designed to keep you in shape or get back into shape, you can train every day for about ten minutes. This type of exercise will wake up your muscles and joints, or it can be used as a warm-up before another type of physical activity.

To develop muscle tone in the legs, choose a greater resistance and increase the duration of the exercise. Obviously, you can vary the pedaling resistance over the course of your workout.

Aerobic exercise for getting into shape: Moderate effort over a relatively long period (35 minutes to 1 hour)

If you wish to lose weight, this type of exercise, combined with a diet, is the only way to increase the amount of energy your body consumes. To do this, it is useless pushing yourself beyond your limits. Training on a regular basis is what will produce the best results. Choose a relatively low pedaling resistance and exercise at your own pace, for a minimum of 30 minutes. This exercise should cause you to build up a mild sweat, but it certainly should not leave you out of breath. It is the duration of the exercise at a slow pace that will make your body dip into its fat reserves for energy, provided you pedal for more than thirty minutes at least three times a week.

Aerobic training for endurance: Sustained effort for 20 to 40 minutes

This type of training aims to strengthen the heart muscles significantly and improve respiratory functioning. During the exercise, pedaling resistance and/or speed is increased to increase breathing rate. This type of exercise is more sustained than when you are working out to get into shape. Gradually, over time, you will be able to work out for longer, at a faster pace. You can do this type of workout at least three times a week. More intense workouts (anaerobic work and red-zone work) are reserved for athletes and require specific preparation. After each workout, set aside several minutes to pedal at a lower speed and resistance, to slow down and gradually relax your body.

Warm down:

This corresponds to low-level activity. Warming down brings your cardiovascular, respiratory and circulatory systems and your muscles back to normal functioning (thereby preventing undesirable side effects such as lactic acid, the accumulation of which is one of the major causes of muscle pain namely, cramps and stiffness).

Stretching:

Stretching should follow the cool-down stage. Stretching after exertion minimizes muscle stiffness due to the accumulation of lactic acid, and stimulates blood circulation.
