An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to lead the NHS Fife Practice and Professional Development Team. The post combines strategic and operational components, managing and leading the service across NHS Fife, to support service modernisation through relevant educational frameworks, ensuring a sustainable and flexible workforce. Leading the service in the context of safe, effective, efficient and evidence-based Nursing and Midwifery practice and policy, reflecting local and national priorities; interpreting national policy / drivers and advising on implementation is a core aspect of the role. You will work closely with a range of stakeholders at local, regional and national level including collaboration with Medical and Allied Health Professional colleagues to support working across professional and organisational boundaries.

As the principal contact with a number of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), contribute to the planning, development and implementation of nursing and midwifery programmes.

This post requires an individual who can lead and develop the PPD function in NHS Fife, responding to the strategic vision for NMAHPs. This role requires a confident nurse leader who can shape nursing / clinical practice by utilising excellent leadership, influencing and motivational skills as well as generating new ideas that will support and drive forward the nursing and midwifery agenda across the Board. You will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills working with a diverse range of staff and Higher Educational Institutions including representing Fife at national and regional groups. You will be a registered nurse or midwife with a Post Graduate qualification and the ability to present work at Masters level. An exciting opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Nurse has arisen to join our Fife Women and Children’s Team. You will have clinical managerial and leadership responsibility for the Tier 3 Neonatal Services in Fife together with the Paediatric Ward including Ambulatory care, Short Stay Assessment Area and HDU. This post also manages the Specialist Nursing teams and Paediatric Outpatients across the Victoria Hospital and Queen Margaret Hospital sites.

Children’s Services need to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the children and families in our care. To influence and lead these changes you should be able demonstrate the ability to be innovative in your approach to the challenges of adapting care to meet the needs of the population of Fife together with Local and National directives.

The provision of person centred, safe and effective care must be central to the function of this post along with excellent leadership skills.

Significant experience at band 7 is required, with considerable clinical experience essential. Excellent communication skills, team working and the ability to use your own initiative are integral components of this post.

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a Senior Charge Nurse within the Inpatient Haematology Ward.

Ward 34 consists of 14 beds and serves the needs of all haematology patients within Fife. The ward accepts direct admissions for oncology patients with neutropaenic sepsis and delivers a wide variety of haematology treatments with the exception of transplantation. You will also work closely with the Senior Charge Nurse based in the Haematology Day unit.The post is an exciting opportunity to influence, manage and lead a team in delivering contemporary care in a busy environment, working with a well established multi-disciplinary team. Team focused you will manage the performance and develop the skill set of your nursing team. As a senior nurse with the Emergency Care Directorate you will participate regularly in the Duty Charge Nurse rota.

It is essential you are a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and have evidence of continuing professional development to degree level. An opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Senior Nurse – Child Protection to join NHS Fife Acute Services.

You should have extensive experience of working with children, young people and their families, as well as expert knowledge of child protection, legislation and policies. You should have a high level of communication and organisational skills and have the ability to work within a team and on your own initiative.

A post registration qualification in Child Protection or evidence of working towards it is essential to fulfil the requirements of this post.

You will be actively involved in the coordination of Child Protection cases across Acute services, focusing in particular around Women and Children’s Services and the Emergency Department. Significant experience of working in these areas is essential.

We are seeking an experienced nurse who will embrace the challenge of this dynamic and challenging role. You will be an expert clinical practitioner responsible for providing advanced clinical assessment of the surgical / urology emergency patient; enhancing care and improving patient flow in conjunction with national standards.

You will work as part of a team of two Advanced Nurse Practitioners and be responsible for performing clinical assessment of emergency patients and apply clinical expertise to diagnose and initiate appropriate investigations and treatment. You will work collaboratively with the on-call team as well as others to deliver safe, effective, person centred care.

You will work across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with others including acute and primary care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams.

You should possess the leadership skills to prioritise demanding workloads and be responsive in a challenging clinical environment.

You should be able to demonstrate an ongoing and self-motivated commitment to continued professional development.

You must possess an Advanced Clinical Examination qualification and preferably the Non Medical Prescribing course – or evidence of working towards this.

You must be in possession of a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice. Possession of a Masters qualification or a willingness to work towards is desirable however, the ability to demonstrate Masters level thinking is essential.

You will be required to rotate into the general surgical wards as required to meet the demands of the service.

You will work within the Fife Primary Care Emergency Service to provide a safe, patient centred and effective clinical nurse consultation to the population of Fife and Kinross. You will develop the role of Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner (APNP) by working autonomously and as part of the multidisciplinary team.

The trainee APNP is an experienced and highly educated Registered Nurse who will manage the complete clinical care for their patient, not solely any specific condition.

The APNP will assess and treat children and young people aged 0 – 16 year, utilising high levels of decision making according to local and national guidelines and the latest evidence based research to ensure patient centred care in partnership with the patient, families and other persons with caring responsibilities for that individual.

The APNP will work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries to develop the service to improve practice, implementing and evaluating evidence based standards, guidelines and policy in regards to management of the ill child. The APNP role encompasses that of expert clinician, educator and auditor.This is a brilliant opportunity to develop nursing practice within the specialism of community based urgent care. As a Registered Nurse with substantial post registration experience, you will be educated or are expected to complete at MSc level in an Advanced Practice Paediatric and Neonatal Qualification and Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification. You will also have experience developing the practice of others including teaching, practice supervision and the application of research and audit underpinned by a strong knowledge of current Urgent Care issues. Excellent leadership, team working, advanced clinical assessment and decision making skills are all key to this role. To meet the needs of Primary Care Emergency Services hours will include a range of shift patterns which include, evenings, nights, weekends, day-time and public holidays. Travel across Fife will be required with PCES centres at QMH, VHK, Glenrothes and St Andrews.

We will support you with access to personal development planning, clinical supervision, reflective practice, mentorship and a structured competency framework.

The Capacity & Flow Team is a dedicated team who provide highly skilled and professional support in directing patient flow across the acute division. Clinical site co-ordination supports patient flow to ensure timely bed availability, admission, discharge, transfer and appropriate placement of patients across Emergency and Planned Care Directorates, Scheduled and Unscheduled care and operates within the delivery of the 4 hour Emergency Access target.

This is an exciting and challenging role for an individual to make a significant contribution to the delivery of hospital site management. The clinical co-ordinator role is significant in the management of Acute beds and will work closely with primary care colleagues promoting patient flow to downstream hospitals as well as managing transfer to and from tertiary care.

You will be an experienced first level nurse with extensive post-registration experience with proven leadership experience and a focus on high standards of quality, patient centered care delivery.

This challenging post requires excellent interpersonal and decision making skills and you must be able to work autonomously and have refined and effective communication skills.

We are looking for nurses with in-depth knowledge over a range of long term conditions eg respiratory, diabetes, chronic pain and mental health. You will have experience in a patient facing role in primary care or hospital and have the ability to influence prescribing to ensure that patients receive the optimal treatment for their condition, in line with local and national guidelines.

They will also be Practice Placement Educators and be responsible for the supervision of junior staff and students.

You will be responsible for supporting the band 6 and 7 Occupational Therapists in developing the service in line with national strategies and drivers.

You will have completed NES Flying start programme for new graduates and will have achieved the first gateway of the KSF process.

The mental health Occupational Therapy service is a Fife wide service and staff are expected to work across Fife and on different sites as and when required. NHS Fife is an award winning Mental Health Occupational Therapy service and is committed to personal development through the provision of protected CPD time, in service training and a comprehensive induction programme. We are looking for a replacement Consultant Neonatologist to join our existing team in Fife delivering quality care to babies and their families.

You will join a close-knit team of neonatologists, who with the general paediatricians, work across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. The current general paediatric consultant team have special interests in allergy, child protection, diabetes, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology, neurobehavioural paediatrics, rheumatology, neurology and cardiology. You will be encouraged to work closely with specialists in the regional centres, to contribute to audit and research on the unit and to further enhance and promote paediatric training in Fife. This post carries a mandatory on-call commitment.

We are a level 3 neonatal unit based in the Victoria Hospital with six ITU/HDU cots and 14 special care cots with the unit admitting around 450 infants per year. The birth rate in NHS Fife is approximately 3500 per year. We are part of the SE Scotland neonatal Managed Clinical Network. Badgernet has been in operation in the unit for the past 4 years and the maternity system recently started in August 2016. The unit delivers therapeutic hypothermia, HFOV and inhaled nitric oxide therapies and cares for infants of any gestation. Only surgical

and cardiac neonates are routinely transferred elsewhere for treatment. We have regularly run Newborn Life Support courses for all new nurses and medical staff since 2003.

A separate Children’s Out-Patient Department and Ambulatory Care Unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 3000 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patient services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

You will work closely with the Associate Clinical Director of PCES and in collaboration with the Lead Nurse and other management colleagues in a number of areas e.g. liaison with the GPs, support to clinical governance, key performance indicators, GP training. Your role will be to provide leadership, under the direction of the Associate Clinical Director to education and learning across urgent care services. You will work closely with Health and Social Care Clinical and Management colleagues to support Clinical Governance. Full registration with the GMC, experience of working as an OOH GP, together with high credibility and a flexible approach are pre-requisites, as are excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to deliver change.
