A constant cycle of freezing and thawing also works to create wider and wider cracks. Be sure to notice the different colors in the tall structures, which are the result of various mineral layers deposited millions of years ago. Some of the formations have names, like The Rabbit and The Hunter. Because of erosion from weather the rock shapes are constantly changing and may no longer resemble their famous labels. And, just like with clouds, people can see different things in the forms. What do you think these two famous hoodoos look like?
