1) Navarre Beach Marine ParkSurrounded by the Gulf of Mexico, Santa Rosa Sound and opportunities to explore above and below sea level, this is an ideal first stop on Florida’s Playground Trail. Includes an educational marine science station, sea turtle conservatory and near-shore reefs.

2) Navarre Beach Fishing PierReady to go a little further into your experience of the Gulf? At 1545 feet, the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier is tops along the coast for catching a breeze, sunset photo or trophy fish.

3) Gulf Islands National SeashoreExplore one of only ten beaches in the U.S. designated as a National Seashore. Park includes seven miles of sugar-white beaches on the Gulf of Mexico plus access to Santa Rosa Sound.

4) Gulf Breeze ZooDrive into some beach towns and the tallest things you’ll notice are condos. Here, people are greeted with the long-necked welcome of giraffes, surrounded by acres of habitats and animals to experience on foot or by safari train.

9) Arcadia MillNowhere along the trail do history and waterways intersect more clearly than at this archaeological site of a 19th century water-powered mill.

10) Bagdad VillageWhen spots like Arcadia Mill were hubs of activity, Bagdad Village was being built. Today, its history stands preserved— a quiet and educational stop along Florida’s Playground Trail.

11) L&N Railroad MuseumVisitors today know Florida primarily by interstate highway travel. This museum offers a rare view into old Florida, and an era when much of its traveling and commerce were done by rail.
