Vacation-Ready Itinerary

Vail, Colorado

4:00pm Check into your vacation rental home and get settled! Stock the fridge, get the lay of the land, and claim your bedroom.

5:30pm Dine on the outdoor patio at El Sabor and take in remarkable views over traditional Latin-American entrees like Snapper Veracruz.

Insider Tip: Order one of the freshly-made margaritas! Ingredients include hand-squeezed limes and agave nectar.

8:00pm Head back to your home-away-from-home to relax. If your rental has access to a pool, take a quick nighttime dip with the kids before you call it a night!

DAY ONE

DAY TWO

8:00am Whip up a family breakfast and chat about the activities you’re most excited for as you dine in. Fresh veggie egg wraps make for a quick and satisfying start to the day.

9:30am Pack a backpack with snacks and water for the family and hike up the mountain – as far as you like - for a refreshing and exhilarating morning.

12:00pm Stop and have lunch at the top of the mountain at Bistro Fourteen, named after the view of the fourteen-thousand-foot Mount of the Holy Cross. This spot offers casual, sit-down dining with a full bar.

Insider Tip: Take the Eagle Bahn Gondola if you’re not up for the hike.

1:30pm Stay at the top of the mountain and zip, fly, tour or tube! Epic Discovery is the ultimate playground with adventure courses, zip lines, a mountain coaster and more.

6:00pm After working up a sweat, head back to your rental to get ready for dinner. Indulge at Vail Chophouse – the stunning mountain views of the Vail Valley rival the delectable menu offerings.

Insider Tip: Try their incredible oysters and succulent seafood.

8:00pm After dinner, have the grandparents watch the kids and head to the CineBistro movie theatre in Vail Village. Relax and have a drink while catching a new flick.

DAY THREE8:00am Get the whole family involved in whipping up some blueberry pancakes and brew a fresh pot of coffee. Dine outside if your rental has a deck or balcony, so you can wake up with some fresh mountain air.

9:30am Have Lakota Guides pick you up for a half day of rafting! Between the mellow whitewater there is time for picture taking and relaxing as you drift lazily between soaring canyon walls. If you really want to explore Colorado’s backcountry, make it a full day instead.

1:30pm After an adventurous morning, enjoy a relaxing lunch back at your rental home. Order anything from casual to gourmet cuisine using à la Car Vail, and it’ll be delivered right to you.

3:30pm Take advantage of the amenities right at your rental home. If you have access to a pool, enjoy the sun with the family. Let the kids splash around while you relax with a good book.

6:00pm After freshening up, head out for some dinner and bowling at Bol Vail. When the friendly competition’s done, rest up those muscles for some more mountain fun tomorrow.

DAY FOUR

5:30am Today’s going to be a big one, so get an early start with some breakfast at your rental. Watch the sunrise over some yogurt parfaits – layer Greek yogurt, fresh berries and granola. Scramble up eggs for an added energy boost.

6:30am Get picked up for a magical experience with Camelot Hot Air Ballon Rides. Surrounded by brilliant blue skies, you’ll get breathtaking views of Rocky Mountains vistas, including Vail, Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch.

1:30pm Bring it back down to earth with a leisurely walk along the Gore Creek path into Vail Village. Enjoy lunch and soak up the atmosphere at Alpenrose – a traditional German restaurant with a mouth-watering menu.

3:00pm Rent some cruiser bikes from Charter Sports and take a cruise around Vail’s gorgeous paths and trails. When your legs get tired, head back to your rental to rest up before dinner.

6:00pm Enjoy the tastes at Sweet Basil, a bustling contemporary bar frequented by celebrities when they visit Vail!

Insider Tip: Order the Creekstone Pork Loin or Colorado Lamb for a savory treat.

8:00pm After dinner, make it an early night back at your rental home. Curl up together on the couch with a good movie or get a head-start on a full night’s sleep.

DAY FIVE8:00am Let somebody else take care of breakfast today! Head over to the renowned West Side Café – a local favorite.

Insider Tip: Order the Local Special: eggs, hash browns and toast – add on chorizo for a kick. Wash it down with a coffee.

9:30am Take an adventurous ride in the wild with a backcountry jeep tour! Call up Mountain Wolf Jeep Adventures (970-926-9653) for an immersive lesson in Colorado’s massive mountain ranges, intricate flowers, and local history.

12:00pm Pack up a picnic for the family and make your way to Piney River Ranch for lunch. Relax in the mountains and enjoy a paddle ride on the river.

3:00pm If your rental has access to a pool or hot tub, enjoy a soak after the excitement of your morning’s adventures. Or kick back on the couch with a good book, while the kids nap.

6:00pm Once everyone’s rested and ready, take a refreshing one-mile hike to the Tennessee Pass Cookhouse and savor an elegant evening of four-course dining in the backcountry.

Insider Tip: Dinner at the Cookhouse is by reservation only, so don’t forget to make one!

8:00pm Back at your rental home, gather up the group for a fun family game night!

DAY SIX7:00am Your last full day starts with a hearty breakfast at your rental - you’re going to need the energy for the day’s adventures. Whip up something creative with what’s left in the fridge!

9:00am Spend time exploring White River National Forest on a guided ATV Tour with Nova Guides. Starting at 9,200 feet, you’ll reach an elevation of 12,500 feet and catch views of four different mountain ranges, gorgeous alpine meadows, historic Camp Hale and the Continental Divide.

1:00pm Rejuvenate over lunch at Pepi’s - a Vail favorite for its sunny deck and rich local history.

Insider Tip: Go for one of the European specialties, from smoked buffalo bratwurst to weinerschnitzel.

2:30pm Play a round at Vail Golf Club, located at the base of the Gore Mountain Range on the east end of town. The course features an 18-hole, par 71 experience at an elevation of 8,200 feet. If golf isn’t your game, indulge your body and mind at Sonnenalp Spa.

4:00pm End your afternoon with some refreshments at The Red Lion, and enjoy great, live entertainment. Then, head back to your rental to get ready for your last night in Vail.

6:30pm Head out for a special dinner at Matsuhisa, where sushi is treated like an art form.

Insider Tip: Try the “Omakase” – the chef’s choice menu featuring the freshest and most interesting dishes of the day.

9:30pm Snuggle up in the living room with some bowls of ice cream, and relive the week’s highlights. Have everyone share their favorite vacation memory and talk about where you’ll go next.
