Vaisala Helideck Monitoring System The unique Vaisala Helideck Monitoring System (HMS) provides accurate information on the prevailing weather and helideck motion to ensure effective flight planning and safe landings on offshore installations. Measurements are based on Vaisala’s world-class, reliable sensor technology, which is integrated into weather stations designed specifically for offshore weather monitoring. The advanced operator's software includes a real-time data display, reporting tools, and critical alarms to enable the operator to make better informed decisions during critical weather situations. A web interface allows the data to be viewed on any PC in the network. The weather station electronics are available rack-mounted or as an outdoor marine hardened version for installations with limited equipment space and less field cabling.

• Wave height: Radac Wave Guide is a compact and maintenance free wave measurement system. Optionally it measures wave direction.

• Lightning detection: Vaisala's Global Lightning Dataset GLD360 is the only lightning detection network capable of delivering high-quality data anywhere in the world both offshore and onshore. Depending on location and needs, Vaisala also provides local lightning sensors for on-site lightning detection enabling early warnings and tracking of thunderstorm movement.

As an optional feature, automatic audible weather reports are available for helicopter pilots through a VHF radio transceiver.

Data Collection and ProcessingThe Vaisala AWS430 is an automatic weather station specifically designed for maritime applications. It integrates

all the sensors providing power, data collection and storage, data quality control, statistical and various weather related calculations as well as communications to external systems, databases, displays and individual addresses. The AWS430 comes either in an acid-proof steel outdoor enclosure or as a rack mounted model.

Data Display, Storage and ReportingThe Vaisala MCC437 is an easy-to-use PC software for helideck operators. It displays, stores, edits, and reports the meteorological and environmental measurement data needed for planning helideck operations and general weather information for vessels and offshore installations. The data is presented in numerical and graphical format and has alarms for critical weather parameters and system malfunctions. It runs on a normal desktop PC and features a user-customizable screen layout.
