Q&A

What is the difference between safety and life on board?Safety means well-being, protection, etc... life on board is the way we live inside the car as passenger or driver. Can we submit more than one project innovation? if its possible, how?You can submit only one project per team. We also recommend only 1 significant idea/concept per project. What does Boldness refers to in judging criteria ?Be creative; be innovative when you propose solutions, technologies or equipments. Don’t hesitate, there are no bad nor stupid ideas. If our ideas match already with existing designs, any suggestions for modifications? Be innovative and propose new ideas beyond the existing design! Can we propose ideas that are already done but in other ways If the way to implement the idea is new… this is globally considered as a new idea !What is the main criterion to judge the proposals?• Boldness, innovation and originality.• Importance and relevance of the problem addressed and consideration of social needs.• Presentation quality of the submission.• Technical proficiency.• Feasibility and construction of the prototype.

Q&A

“Project Description” and “our solution” columns are almost the same, how to differentiate? Project description: you should describe the situation, the context, what you want to improve. The solution description comes after. What are the important questions we need to keep in mind when filling the template?Be clear and simple when describing your project, but also be factual to support your idea technically. Is it ok to work on a patented concept, perhaps if we present it with enhancements? Will there be any point deduction in this case?No deduction point if the enhancements are significant and newCan we work on a combination of sub-systems? such as mechanical +safety systems ?Yes you can; but be clear in your explanations! Can we use software simulators rather than prototypes?Yes you can use simulators or animations to prove that your idea can work. Do not forget that you will have 20 pages to describe the prototype if you are selected for the next step of the Challenge.Do we have to work on only one system or can we propose multi-system design?Be simple and clear! but we suggest that you to use just one system. Can we able include pictures in our first submission?Yes you can add drawings, pictures or images to support your project. But no videos, animations, etc during Phase 1

Q&ADo you take into consideration experience of the team? No the experience of the team doesn’t matter in the evaluation: the criteria for evaluating all projects are: Boldness, innovation and originality. Importance and relevance of the problem addressed and consideration of social needs. Presentation quality of the submission. Technical proficiency. Feasibility and construction of the prototype.

Should the prototype be fully functional or just proof of the concept? The prototype is not only proof of concept, but must also demonstrate the function, or at least its most important part. Can we submit an idea even if we discover that a part of it has been patented? You can do it, but in this case you should be creative and innovative for the rest of the project you are presenting; you must bring something new!Can we design a piece of technology that relies on infrastructure that does not yet exist, like self driving cars?Yes, you can.Can we change the submissions before the deadline? You can change the content of the project right up until the deadline, which is next Monday. If the project involves crash safety, we cannot crash test a car. How will we prove our concept works? You have the possibility to use animation or simulators to prove that your idea can be functional Can we make our part based on a technology still needs further development? Yes, you can Should the idea be marketable by 2030, or would it be in development in 2030? It could be both cases

Thank you!
