INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FELLOWSHIP (ISF)--This fall of 2018, we’ve had one of the largest incoming classes ever with over 70 students coming regularly. You may have already seen some of them attending Valley services and events. We would love to widen their relationships to Christian families at Valley Church and invite you to be a part of this. Would you consider having a couple of students over for a dinner or two in your home? Maybe for Thanksgiving? We also need more help welcoming students for winter quarter on December 13 and spring quarter in March. Would you consider joining us? Please reach out to Terry Yu at (408) 996-9413 or Gary Claassen at (408) 757-5577 if you would like to help or hear more about ways you can be involved in the lives of these youngmen and women. You can make a difference reaching the nations! For more information about ISF, contactTerry Yu at [email protected].

WOMEN'S RETREAT SUMMARY --38 ladies joined us at Redwood Christian Park at the end of September for the women’s retreat. Grace Lee from Chinese Church in Christ was our guest speaker, and the topic was Surrender. A seemingly tough headline was made easier to bear with the reminder that by fully depending on God and His perfect wisdom, all things become easier. When we hand situations over to God and share them with Him, He lightens the load and equips us in the way only He intends and is able. The weekend was a real treat, with time for making new friends, hiking, crafting, talking with God, eating food prepared for us by others and playing the most ridiculous group games. If you were considering joining this year and decided against it, we strongly recommend signing up next year. Thanks again retreat team - you spoiled us.

STEM ON STELLING UPDATE--Over 400 people (300+ visitors and 100+ helpers) converged on the Valley Church campus on Oct. 6 for our 2nd Annual STEM event. Booths included DNA "splicing", making LED flashlights, flower dissection, robotics, anatomy & fitness, and even glass blowing. Children had fun with slime, legos, math puzzles, rockets, rabbits and much more! Plus, free popcorn and snow cones. Thank you to those who helped! The GOSPEL was spread through science and technology and most importantly through our love for the Lord.

This fall Valley Church has had some exciting new pastoral changes. Pastor Darren Seitz switched from the role of Growth Point Pastor to Showing Point Pastor. His work will focus on local outreach ministry. Andy Drake has now filled the role of Growth Point Pastor. His work will focus on ministries that help us grow in our faith in the Lord.Andy has been serving in ministry in the Cupertino area for many years and is delighted to be part of the Valley Church family and leadership team. He is passionate about helping people experience and express the love of Jesus. Andy finds great joy in helping each individual know the love, grace, peace, and hope of God as they live an abundant life through Jesus Christ. His mission is to win the secular individual to Christ, build the convinced individual in faith, and equip the committed individual to do the work of the ministry. Andy is eager to make a tangible and eternal difference in the lives of others as he provides leadership to the spiritual formation pathway at Valley Church (Community Groups, Adult Education, Children’s, Youth, Men’s and Women’s ministries). Andy and his wife Amy have been married for 30 years and have two children. Their daughter Olivia and her husband Gerrit live in Bethesda, Maryland, and their son Evan is a recent college graduate living in the Bay Area. Before being called to Valley Church, Andy was a pastor at Peninsula Bible Church Cupertino and Valley Community Church in Pleasanton. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Management from San Jose State with a minor in Psychology. Andy also completed a pastoral intern program at Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto and a variety of coursework from Regent College, Oxford University/Wycliffe Hall, and Western Seminary. Please give a warm welcome to Pastor Andy!
