Teachers have sent individual messages through Class Dojo or have made contact via phone for those not on Dojo. As you can imagine, this has been a huge task and the execuve have worked extremely hard to formulate a plan to keep in-line with the DoEs guidelines of having 25% of students on school grounds on any given day. Parents are asked to drop their child at an entry point, rather than coming into school, in order to minimise the amount of people on school grounds.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Dear Parents and Carers, It is a great honour and privilege to introduce myself, Kirsty Squires, as the new Principal of Valley View Public School. I have come from Somersby Public School where I have been the Principal for the past nine years. I also come as a member of the local community. I have been married for 21 years and have three lovely teenage daughters, all of whom currently attend Narara Valley High School, with our eldest daughter being the 2020 School Captain. My family has been greatly involved in a range of sports where we have met and made lots of wonderful connections on the Central Coast. I know this wonderful school boasts a long list of achievements in academic fields, technology, sport and the arts just to name a few. I am extremely excited about being given the task of continuing its great name and leading the team of students, teachers and community into the future. I look forward to working closely with students, staff and parents to continue the strong vision for Valley View PS. A vision that values the success of the past and acknowledges the challenges of the future. My goal is to build on the impressive work already displayed at Valley View PS and to continue to grow this dynamic school together. I am passionate about developing and maintaining strong and effective wellbeing programs, ensuring each and every student is known, valued and cared for. I place high value on the connections between school and home and work collaboratively with my colleagues to always ensure that best outcomes are met for all of our students. I believe the key to success in education is the positive relationship between parents, teachers and students. These strong relationships form the backbone of a respectful and connected community where all stakeholders feel valued and supported. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Peter Graham for his support in my transition to Valley View PS and wish him all the best in his new position as Principal of Bateau Bay PS. It is with great pleasure that I look forward to sharing our learning partnership over the coming years. Staggered Return to School Starting next Monday, 11th of May students will be allocated one day per week to come to school as we enter Phase 2 of the Department of Education’s managed return to school plan. Teachers have sent individual messages through Class Dojo or have made contact via phone for those not on Dojo. As you can imagine, this has been a huge task and the executive have worked extremely hard to formulate a plan to keep in-line with the DoE’s guidelines of having 25% of students on school grounds on any given day. In addition to smaller class sizes, there is additional cleaning being undertaken (daily cleaning of door handles and railings etc) and all children are asked to bring a drink bottle to school as the bubblers are closed. We will also be closing the school playground equipment as per advice from the DoE. Students who have collected work books from school will be asked to bring them in on their allocated day to continue their daily work at school. We thank those who have provided feedback in a respectful and courteous manner and staff have done their utmost to take this on-board and make necessary changes, ensuring learning from home is meaningful and engaging. As always, if there are any concerns, please contact your child’s teacher. These last few weeks have been unusual to say the least, and the school greatly appreciates your continued support and understanding. School Beautification Over the school holidays Mr Graham had organised lots of wonderful signage to be put up around the school. We look forward to being able to invite you in to look at it.

Have a great week, Kirsty Squires

Principal
