Mount St. Joseph Girls’ College VCE Leader Preamble The ability to teach in at least two subjects areas and qualified to teach Religious Education would be advantageous. Position Description The VCE Leader is responsible for the effective management of all aspects of the VCE, Administration and Provision. This includes leadership and direction in matters of policy, curriculum content, teaching strategy, teaching quality and student attainment and resources. Pre-requisites Commitment to Child Safety Experience with working with children A demonstrated understanding of child safety A demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children Familiarity with legal obligations relating to child safety (eg. Mandatory reporting) Be a suitable person to engage in child-connected work Education and Experience Teaching qualifications Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration Accreditation to teach in a Catholic school (or be working towards such accreditation) Responsibilities Professional and Pastoral Leadership: Liaises with the Student Wellbeing Leaders and Learning Leaders to provide special provisions and program adjustments to support student learning as required. Be responsible for staff development in relation to VCE matters in consultation with the Deputy Principal Learning and Staff. Shares in the induction of staff, particularly those new to the College. Be available for parental contact as required and appropriate regarding curriculum and teacher enquiries or concerns. Represents the College in external forums as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Professional and Pastoral Leadership:

• Liaises with the Student Wellbeing Leaders and Learning Leaders to provide special provisions and program adjustments to support student learning as required.

• Be responsible for staff development in relation to VCE matters in consultation with the Deputy Principal Learning and Staff.

• Shares in the induction of staff, particularly those new to the College. • Be available for parental contact as required and appropriate regarding curriculum and teacher

enquiries or concerns. • Represents the College in external forums as appropriate.

VCAA Administration: • Liaises with the VASS administrator to ensure VCAA deadlines are met. • Liaises with the VCAL Leader to facilitate VCAL enrolments and programs. • Administers VCAA regulations as they apply to VCE and VCAL students and studies. • Manages Special Provisions, assessment recalls and VCE Panels in conjunction with the Deputy

Principal Learning and Staff. • Confirms enrolment in VCE and VCAL programs. • Ensures that appropriate credit transfers are completed for International and local students and

these students are correctly enrolled with the VCAA. • Receives communication from VCAA via email, VCE Bulletin and disseminates as required. • Advises and communicates with staff, students and parents regarding administrative matters

related to VCE and VCAL as required. • Coordinates the VCAA examination and GAT periods (employ and support supervisors, prepare

rooms, checking email updates) and trial exams. • Attends meetings with VCAA as required.

Transition and Follow-up:

• Supports the administration of transition processes including: o Working in conjunction with the Deputy Principal Learning and Staff to organise Head

Start activities and VCE Parent Information Evenings. o Updating and publishing the VCE/VCAL Handbook for staff, student and parent reference.

• Liaises with relevant staff on student transition issues. • Facilitates a forum through which staff may discuss the progress of a student at a level.

Group Monitoring:

• Liaises with Learning Leaders and Domain Leaders regarding specific concerns in subject matters e.g. a large number of concerns about the content of a subject or homework etc.

• Facilitates a forum through which staff are able to support each other by discussing a group within a level in relation to their progress.

• Monitors student conduct in Private Study Periods Undertakes related duties as requested by the College Principal who may vary the above duties from time to time.
