Lab 6 vCloud Director Infrastructure Setup
Objective: To setup and configure VMware vCloud Director Infrastructure In this lab, you will perform the following tasks: 1. Prepare a vApp for setting up the vCloud Director Infrastructure. 2. Verify functionality of vCenter server appliance. 3. Configure vShield Manager appliance. 4. Verify functionality of vCloud Director appliance.
Task 1: Setup the vApp required to form the vCloud Director Infrastructure 1. Launch Internet Explorer browser. Go to the URL of the VCD server at https://172.x.x.34/cloud/org/ict-student (Your instructor will provide the IP address as well as the username and password). 2. Click Home > Add vApp from Catalog > My organization’s catalog > Public catalog
3. Right click M7_Lab6_Student_Package_Do_Not_Delete > Click Add to My Cloud or Click on M7_Lab6_Student_Package_Do_Not_Delete > Click Next
4. When prompted, name the vApp as M7_Lab6_Student_Package_GX Note: GX is based on your Group assigned by your instructor. Example if you are group 1 then, you enter > “M7_Lab6_Student_Package_G1”. Leave the rest of the setting as default. 5. Click Finish.
6. Once the vApp has been added. Click on Home tab > and then the Open icon.
7. Click on the Virtual Machines Tab
8. Right Click on the M7_vCSA_CE virtual machine and click “Power On”
9. Repeat step 8 on the, M7_Win7, M7_vShield_Mgr and the vCloud_Dir_M7 virtual machine. 10. Ensure that the M7_vCSA_CE, M7_Win7, M7_vShield_Mgr and the vCloud_Dir_M7 virtual machine is fully booted up by right clicking on the relevant VM and select “Popout Console” to view the status. (Note: The boot up may take some time so allow adequate time for all virtual machines to boot up.) 11. Show your instructor the status of all the power up virtual machines.

Task 2: Verify functionality of vCenter server appliance 12. Now, right click on M7_vCSA_CE virtual machine and > Click Popout console. Record the ip address. Example shown below > but do not follow the example. Use the IP address you observe in your lab.
13. Select the M7_Win7 virtual machine, right click and select Popout Concole. When prompted, log in password is “Pa$$w0rd”. Then Launch internet explorer now and key in the URL you just recorded in step 12. Example https://192.168.2.xxx:5480 and hit enter key. 14. When prompted, Just click “Continue with this website (not recommended)”.
15. Now log in as “root” and password is “vmware”
16. Ensure all the services are running as shown below.
17. Once you confirm all services are running except for the vSphere Auto deploy service which by default is stop.
20. Show your instructor the status of the M7_vCSA_CE virtual machine and then close or minimize M7_Win7 virtual machine web browser.

Task 3: Configure vShield Manager Appliance
21. To start, right click on the M7_vShield_Mgr virtual machine and click on Popout Console.
22. Hit enter key to Log in. Username >admin and password >default.
23. Type the command “enable” to enter the privileged mode. Password>default
24. At the prompt, type “setup” to start the initial configuration process.
25. When prompted, enter the appropriate values for the vCloud vShield Manager as follow:
IP address=192.168.2.104
Netmask=255.255.255.0
Default gateway=192.168.2.1
DNS information (leave blank, just hit enter key)
26. Verify the information entered and answer “y” when prompted.
27. When prompted to restart the vShield Manager, answer “Y”.
28. Ensure that the vCloud vShield virtual machine is rebooted by pressing the enter button after a while. If you see “M7vshieldMg-001 Login:” That means the VM has rebooted. > Close the console window.
(Note: At this point, we can use a Web browser and connect to the M7_vShield_Mgr and
attach a vCenter. It might take a couple of minutes for the previous step to complete before
you can access the M7_vShield_Mgr web user interface.)
29. From the M7_Win7 machine, launch internet explorer and key in “https://192.168.2.104
to log in to the M7_vShield_Mgr web console. Click >
“Continue to the website (not recommended)
30. Username >admin and the password> default
31. Click the Settings & Reports button, edit click the edit button next to vCenter Server.
32. Enter the following information and click OK. When prompted, click Yes.
(Note: It takes a while for the vCSA to syn with the vShield Manager)
vCenter Server: 192.168.2.105
Administrator Username: root
Password: vmware
33. At this point, you will be prompted to confirm the authenticity of the vCenter
Server that you are connecting to. Click Yes to continue.
34. Verify the successful status as shown above. Then close the web interface.
From the M7_Win7 virtual machine, launch a vSphere client and connect to the vCenter. IP
address = 192.168.2.105. Username = root, password = vmware.
You may be prompted on security warning, just click the “ignore” button.
34. Once connected, under Solutions and Applications, you should see the vShield Manager
icon. This means the vCenter has successfully link to the vShield Manager. Shown your
instructor the status and close the vsphere client.

Task 4: Verify functionality of vCloud Director appliance
35. From the M7_Win7 virtual machine, launch a web browser and log in to
https://192.168.2.102/cloud. Username>administrator and the password>Pa$$w0rd
24. Once log in you will be presented with the screen below. Ignore the license issue and click on the Home button. That completes the verification of the vCloud Infrastructure setup. Show your instructor the status and close the web browser.
