OverviewVector PC offers full functioning Vector software that can be used with visualizer applications to design and edit your show offline. When connected to ePort for DMX-over-Ethernet output, Vector PC can be used to run the show, as a back up console, or configured as a slave console. When used with eSynch, Vector PC offers MIDI and SMPTE options. All outboard devices, such as Vector wings and iControl can be connected via the Ethernet connection. Vector PC software includes online help files that are updated with each software release.

Requirements:

PC running Windows 2000 or Windows XP

Pentium 4 and higher (or equivalent)

150 MB free memory

512 RAM memory

Vector PC softwareVector PC software includes a number of components:

Real-time Components - the RT interface and RT Vector PC

Device Builder - A utility for defining device personalities

Remote Editor - A utility that allows you to take over editing operations on the console

Vector PC - Vector application software main window

Vector PC panel - A console panel simulator

VectorUsing Vector PC software

Using Vector PC softwareProgramming a show on Vector PC is essentially identical to operating a Vector console. You can configure the main window to suit the single monitor configuration or copy a layout file from the Vector console.

Figure 3: Vector PC panel with Playback Control enabled

The Vector panel contains functional representations of:

Under the Application menu, you can:

Show or hide a playback wing panel. The playback wing emulates motorized faders.

Set the editor panel to “Always on Top” or to automatically minimized when clicking the display window.

Enable or disable keyboard shortcuts for most programming and playback commands. See “ASCII equivalents for console keys” page 9.

Enable playback control - Show or hide the crossfader and the playback controls.

No. Panel control

VectorDisplay layouts

Display layoutsVector PC assumes there is one monitor connected, therefore only one window is loaded. If there is more than one monitor connected to your PC, you must open new windows on the additional moni-tors or load your show layout and distribute the show layout screens on your monitors.

When working with one monitor you may find it convenient to set the screen resolution to 1280x1024 and load the system layout file named 1Screen 1280 x 1024 Layout.cfg. This layout allows enough room for the Vector PC Panel and the playback wing to appear side by side under the main window display.

If the Vector PC panel or playback wing displays are not visible, restore it to its last position by opeing the Window menu and choosing Reset Dialog Position.

Remote EditorThe Remote Editor utility is included in the Vector PC installation. The Remote Editor allows you to control a console from a remote location.

ATTENTION! The Remote Editor and Vector PC Panel cannot work simultaneously. Close the Vector PC Panel before opening the Remote Editor.

The Application menu options are:

Vector PC and outputVector PC can output VC (DMX-over-Ethernet) or ArtNet to run a show.

For Vector PC to output ArtNet or more than one VC universe (512 channels), ePort converters must be connected.

Vector PC outputs only one VC universe (512 channels) if no ePort converters are identified.

ATTENTION! Art-Net and VC’s must be enabled in Tools Settings DMX Protocol.

Vector PC and visualizersVector PC can work with a visualizer installed on the same computer as Vector PC or when the visualizer is installed on another computer on the same network.

When the visualizer is installed on the same computer, there is no output limit.

When the visualizer is installed on a different computer, the output is limited to one VC universe (512 channels).

Figure 8: Master console ID fieldc. Click OK to close the dialog box.

Data from the master console is downloaded to the slave console. If the connection is not established, make sure that the Local Area Connection is set as the IP address you entered. If not close the Vector PC, correct the IP and restart the PC. Note: If you Vector software version is older than version 3.15, the last bytes in the IP address must be 10.

ATTENTION! On Vector PC the Network ID and Console ID fields may show 0 if the LAN is not named Vector Network . If the network is named Vector Network, the network and console ID numbers are displayed. As some PCs have 2 Ethernet ports or more and if the LAN name does not parse (if it uses characters in non:Latin alphabets) , the Vector PC IP is not displayed.
