History

The origin of VegaPas, goes back to 1993, a day in which the family Coria-Rios, with an ample business tradition and with a long trajectory in the food sector, acquires a small “sobaos” bakery, located in San Román de la Llanilla (Santander). The activity of this small bakery, which was the origin of the actual VegaPas, our products were made completely traditional, throu-gh the use of barrels with molds that had wheels and were intro-duced into the ovens manually by the workers, which were dedi-cated to the elaboration of the traditional product per excellence of the Cantabrá pastry-making.

The jump that was the definitive take off for the company, occu-rred in 1999 with the transfer of the production activity to the Guarnizo Industrial Park, in Astillero.These new installations, larger and more modern, allowed the slow automation of the production process through the successi-ve acquisition of cutting edge machinery between the years 1999 and 2004. This technological innovation allowed for a complete renovation of the production process, making the process com-pletely automated. Finally in the year 2006 we proceeded to the reconstruction of our new installations from the drawing board with the objective of making the company a reference for others in the nutrition sector.

This small part of the history of VegaPas, is the greatest proof that we are a company, that throu-ghout our trajectory, has been investing in tech-nological and production improvements with the idea of increasing the quality of our product, increment the sales figures while obtaining the creation of jobs and the consolidation of new jobs.

The Sobao, due to its excellent taste and quality, is the most recognized and popular in the Valley of Pas in Cantabria, from which it gets its name “Pasiego” and has transcended the boundaries of Cantabria, well known and consumed in the entire country and abroad.

The sobaos VegaPas, are elaborated with the origi-nal recipe from its origins (the Valley of Pas); its healthy, natural ingredients (butter, sugar, eggs and flour) together with the new technologies for control of raw materials and elaboration, give as a result a sobao of exquisite quality, preserved in its individual wrapping and its attractive packaging.

- The sobao is presented: in a unitary format individually packaged.· In a package of 4, 6, 9, 12, 18 or 36 units.· Box of 14 units.· In bulk box of 2.5 kg.

Our Workshop.A solid Asset

VegaPas sets up one of the most modern plants that actually exist in the market.This new plant allows us to reinforce our production process as well as our own brand, as well as the private labels for large chains of distribution, which we presently manufac-ture for.

We currently have a production capacity of 100.000kg of product finished per week.Our proces-ses are completely automated, from the dosages of the raw materials (flour, sugar, butter, eggs, etc.) to the packaging phase, which is done with robots.

However, at the same time, we maintain the quality and formula of the traditional sponge cake, resulting from this combination is a product with its own texture, the same taste as always, the one from the valleys of the “Pasiegos”.

We currently have a line making “mojico-nes” and “mantecadas” and “corbatas” made of puff pastry which completes our baked goods.

The production process for these is equally automated, allowing us to make our own brand as well as the private labels for the national distribution and those of other manufacturers.

At VegaPas, we have our own laboratory with our highly qualified personnel, that is permanently collaborating with external laboratories, technological centers and universities.We submit all our products to the strictest quality control, this way guaranteeing the satisfaction of our clients.We equally do controls of the raw materials, packaging and wrapping as well as the certification of our suppliers.Presently our human personnel of our quality control department, is immersed in the adaptation and obtaining of the IFC standing.Quality, service, innovation and freshness, a summarized philosophy in four words. In order to fulfill them we intend, at every moment, to be a modern and innovative company, with a professional and highly qualified team.

VegaPas has realized, from its start, a firm commitment to innovation and the quality of its products. That’s why, we have develo-ped a great investment effort in new pro-ductive technologies, channeled through successive projects from R&D to put into the market products of the highest quality, using the latest technologies from the sector and the traditional recipes.
