REGISTRATION All registration will be through Zone 4. Registration closes Thursday, May 11th. at 11:59 pm.

***Please note – field limits of 66 for the Cat 5 category and limits of 55 riders for the Cat 1-2, Cat 3, and Cat 4 fields.

LICENSE CHECK AND NUMBER PICK-UP 6pm to 8pm on Friday May 12th. 2017 at: Giant Edmonton 9833 63 Avenue, Edmonton, AB We strongly encourage you to attend on Friday evening. However, for those who cannot make it to Velocity. They can pick up their numbers on Saturday morning at least 30 minutes before their start at the Gymkhana grounds.

Riders must present with a 2017 CC/UCI Racing license.

SIGN-ON Saturday afternoon sign on for the Road Race is at Josephburg Gymkhana Grounds.

Sunday morning sign on is at the Alberta Research Park before the Criterium.

STAGE 1 - TIME TRIAL Saturday, May 13th 2017

Start time: 10:00 am, Saturday May 13th 2017, at the Josephburg Gymkhana Grounds. Cyclists will be leaving at 30-second intervals.

Directions: From Edmonton travel East on Hwy 16 Turn left on Hwy 830 travel North, Turn right on TWP 550. Gymkhana grounds are located just before the intersection of TWP 550 and RR 213.

The Start List will be made Friday, May 13th and posted online on Zone 4.

***NO RIDING (Other Than Racing) on the ITT course in either direction after 10:00*** Riders will only be permitted to warm-up/cool down on RR 212, north of TWP 550 after 10:00am

STAGE 2 - ROAD RACE Saturday, May 13th, 2017

Time: Races start at 2:00pm in the start order listed below. There will be a 5 minute gap between each category.

Location: Josephburg Gymkhana Grounds. As per our Race Permit there is NO PARKING on the race course. Parking is available at the Gymkhana grounds for racers, feed zone and finish line spectators.

Directions: Travel East on Hwy 16 Turn left on Hwy 830 travel North, Turn right on TWP 550. Gymkhana grounds are located just before the intersection of TWP 550 and RR 213.

Wheel vehicle: Wheels are neutral. Drop wheels in the appropriate category wheel vehicle Saturday afternoon. Velofix will be the follow car for the Women Car 3/4/5 Race and provide a limited numbers of wheels for natural service in that category.

Feed Zone: The feed zone will be start 50 meters east of RR 213 on TWP 550. There will be no feeding on the first lap of each race.

Finish: The race finish will be heading North on RR 213 south of TWP 550. Time bonus’ will be awarded for top three finishers (10s, 6s, 4s) in each category.

STAGE 3 - CRITERIUM Sunday, May 14th, 2017

The **New** course is a 1.6km loop located at Alberta Research Park (250 Karl Clark Road – by the Servus Credit Union Building). Parking is available on the North-East side of the Servus Credit Union Parking lot. The South Common Farmers Market is using the South-West portion of the parking lot. Please make sure that you leave that portion of the parking lot open for their patrons.

REGULATIONS - No team or unauthorized following vehicles in Time Trial or Road Race stages. - Riders must finish each stage in order to continue onto the next. - Riders lapped and pulled in the Criterium will be given a calculated time - Do not cross the finish line, in either direction, more than once at the end of the race. - Disc Brakes are not permitted in road events - Please respect law enforcement and locals. Do not antagonize. - Riders should at all times ride single file when not racing. - This event will be run according to ABA/CC/UCI regulations. Riders are responsible for

knowing and understanding the rules. They are available online. - The ABA complies with and fully supports the UCI antidoping regulations, the clauses of the

World Antidoping Code and its international Standards to which the UCI antidoping regulations refer and to the antidoping regulations of other competent bodies as per the regulations of the UCI.

RACE NUMBERS INDIVIDUAL START EVENTS Time Trial (Stage 1): one number, middle of lower back. The frame plate is not required.

MASS START EVENTS Road Race (Stage 2): two numbers, right shoulder, right lower back + frame plate Criterium (Stage 3): two numbers, right shoulder, right lower back + frame plate

Race numbers and Frame plates can be picked up Friday evening (6:00-8:00 pm) at Giant Edmonton and will also be available at sign-on. Racers are asked to supply their own safety pins and plastic zip ties.

Riders will be given a set of numbers to use throughout the entire road season. Riders who have already been issued their numbers and forget to bring them to races will be charged $10 before being issued a new number and allowed to start their race, there will be no exceptions to this rule.

PRIZES Cash and merchandise, depending upon race category. A prize list will be posted at the start of the road race.

FOOD/DRINK Please Note that no food is available on site for the Time Trial and Road Race. Race site is 20mins east of Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan. Please plan ahead and bring your own food and beverages.

PROVINCIAL TEAM The Velocity Stage Race is a selection race for Junior Men and Women competing for a spot on the Junior Road Nationals Provincial Team (Please follow the link for more information). Please note that points can only be obtained in Category 2 for Men and Category 2 for Women.
