Application Techniques Spray Application: A sprayer with a heavy duty pump is recommended. One that is capable of spraying approx. 3,000 psi, or approx. 1 gallon per minute. A 3/8 hose is recommended. The recommended size of tip apertures range from .025 - .031, depending on flow rating and pump pressure of the spray rig. Apply product using cross-hatched passes, spraying both vertically, then horizontally. Adequate coverage should maintain a thickness of approx. 15 wet mils, however, the product could exceed approx. 30 wet mils, depending on circumstance and wall conditions. After product has been applied to the desired thickness, refer to the trowel instructions listed under application. NOTE: A texture rig or hopper gun can also be used to apply the product. Splatter on product and immediately back-roll using a 1/2 nap roller to lay down and flatten out the texture pattern to a stipple, then refer to trowel instructions listed under application. R oller Application: When using a paint roller to apply product, a 1/2 to 3/4 nap roller cover is recommended. Simply roll on product to the desired thickness and immediately use a trowel or broadknife to smooth over any stipple left by the roller before the stipple dries. Two coats may be necessary, depending on circumstances. Refer to trowel instructions listed under application. Hand Application: Since the product has body due to it’s viscosity, it can also be hand applied. Apply using a Hawk & Trowel or Pan & Knife method and putty coat product over the entire surface. Once the desired thickness has been achieved and product begins to set up, go back to “sweeten up” any lap marks, ridges, etc., from the initial coating process. Refer to trowel instructions listed under application. NOTE: The product may also be used in the application of hand textures, ie., Santa Fe Finish, Santa Barbara Finish, etc., Many applicators prefer using this product due to the unique characteristics with finishing techniques. Coverage Vella Veneer Plaster covers approximately 125 square feet per gallon, applied at approx. 15 wet mils. Results may vary depending on application of product and surface preparation. Storage Store at room temperature with container tightly sealed. Clean Up Wash tools with water. Caution Avoid contact with eyes. May cause irritation. If contact occurs, flush immediately with water and contact physician immediately. This product is not recommended for embedding tape. For interior use only. If sanding is necessary, use a dust-particulate respirator approved by NOSHA-MSHA.
