**************************************************************************************

Annie Hendrickson Born in Taipei, Annie Hendrickson’s real home is Paris, Tennessee, where the family had a farm and horses and a restaurant, and where she was a flag girl, a rollerskater, and a mudder. Small town life yielded to Nashville and then New York City, where she attended Columbia as a rural Chinese girl with a Southern accent, studying psychology. She worked at a law firm and then Lehman Brothers (presumably before 2008), then earned a Syracuse MPA and a Michigan MBA, where she became a college football fanatic—she goes Blue, but also goes with her husband’s (Jonathan) Trojans. She did corporate finance, kept

Kraft in macaroni, married in 2009 in Chicago, and delivered daughter Lucy and son Nathaniel (now 5 and 7, destined to be Pacific Panthers). Annie retired from the corporate world to work in the maternal world, and the family moved to Manhattan Beach in 2014, where she may or may not find that her ability to speak Mandarin comes in handy. She was in the LMB Class of 2017 (President Mark says she made the Santa Float happen) and then joined Rotary. She is a country music fan and a “Southern belle at heart.” John Clough Former Naples, Florida Rotarian John Clough (as in rough, tough and enough) is an only child who made up for it by marrying into a huge family. His grandfather and his Baptist minister father were Rotarians. He worked at UPS to help earn his way through George Mason University, then lived on a boat in San Diego (he’s an avid sailor). He taught English in Japan for two years, then attended law school at Miami and is still a Hurricane fanatic. He married fellow law student Rebecca in 2000 and made President Mark happy by serving as a prosecutor—in Naples, Florida. He worked briefly as an NFL agent—Ray Lewis was a client. He noticed that Florida is really humid. He moved on to business and commercial litigation, with some corporate transaction work. Rebecca carried a high net worth family law practice in Florida, and wrote a book based on it (“Breaking Free”), but, unlike him, declined to take the California Bar when they moved here last year. They have raised Alex (New York Law grad), Nick (Naples firefighter), Emma (Mira Costa) and Danielle (a Psychology doctoral candidate in South Dakota), along with two grandchildren and Sebastian the Dog. He marathons, drinks Scotch, and shoots clay. I’d Never Join A Club That Would Accept Me As A Member President Mark closed the meeting by mentioning that our growing list of new members is not only a large list, but consists of incredibly talented people. Many of us old guys, from back in the days when this was a very small club, listen to these craft talks and have to consider the possibility that we’d never get into this club now. But Groucho Marx aside, it’s good to be a member of a club that attracts the Annie Hendricksons and John Cloughs of this world. Yours in Rotary, Jim Hallett
