The first long-lasting insecticide-synergist combination bed net
Especially developed to address the growing problem of pyrethroid resistance in malaria vectors
Combines a synergist and insecticide for increased efficacy against pyrethroid-resistant malaria vectors
Uses advanced technology to ensure continual release of synergist and insecticide for the lifetime of the net
Specially-designed lower 70cm border has proven to enhance lifetime of the net
Cost-effective in areas of pyrethroid resistance
LifeStraw® Guinea Worm is a plastic pipe with a stainless steel mesh that filters out Guinea worm larvae from contaminated water. It has been a vital tool in global
efforts, led by The Carter Center, to eradicate Guinea worm disease.
• Vestergaard has supplied more than 23 million LifeStraw® Guinea
Worm filters to The Carter Center’s Guinea Worm Eradication
Programme, and the disease has experienced a dramatic
decrease.
• In 1986, an estimated 3.5 million people in 21 countries in Africa
and Asia had Guinea worm disease.
• In 2013, there were 148 cases in four African countries: South
Sudan, Chad, Mali and Ethiopia.
• As of December 2012, the WHO had certified 192 countries and
territories around the world as being free of the disease. It is
likely that Guinea worm disease will be the second human disease
in history (after smallpox) to be completely eradicated.
• The filter was the first LifeStraw® product and it provided
inspiration for the award-winning LifeStraw® point-of-use water
filters that followed.

About 780 million people in the world lack access to safe drinking water. Every 21 seconds, a child dies from diarrhea. One of the major barriers to large-scale safe water provision is the
lack of financing. The UN Human Development Report in 2011 noted that “the financing needed will have to be many times greater than current official development
assistance…closing the financing gap requires innovative thinking.”
LifeStraw® Carbon For Water program offers an innovative solution to the water crisis. It uses carbon financing to sustainably provide 4.5 million people in Kenya with the ability to treat
water in their homes for 10 years. It doesn’t cost the government or aid donors anything and it is designed to be replicated in other appropriate settings.
• Developed and launched by Vestergaard in April 2011
• 880,000 LifeStraw® Family water filters deployed in 91%
households without access to safe water in Kenya’s rural
Western Province
• The program earns carbon credits as LifeStraw® Family filters eliminate the need to boil
water for treatment. As a result, emissions that arise from the practice of burning wood
to boil water are reduced
• Monitoring by an accredited independent auditor takes place every 6-12 months. Carbon
credits are issued only after each verification
• It is a pay-for-performance business model whereby revenue is only obtained once
program indicators such as the number of people using the technology and the quantity
of water used for health-related purposes are certified by the international auditors
• Vestergaard has established 32 repair & replacement service centers throughout the area
LifeStraw® Carbon for Water
CarePack®
• CarePack® is a flexible package of multiple health interventions designed for integrated and cost-effective health programs. Each CarePack® can be adapted to a variety of health programming objectives.
• CarePack® is ideal for:
HIV Programs

The CarePack® is designed to be user-friendly and self-managed. Since repeat interventions are impediments to the rapid scale-up and success of public health programs, standard
components of a CarePack® are long-lasting.
