progressive team during the

electoral process and the support

rendered by them by remaining

present in the insta l lat ion

ceremony of the new team of VIA.

In the last two months we have

c o n c e n t r a t e d o n r e p a i r ,

maintenance and up-gradation of

the infrastructure of the Vapi GIDC

Estate. Utmost care has been taken

to get the damaged road repaired

and to clean the choked up

drainage lines by the concerned

authorities. The representatives of

VIA went personally to check the

status at sites. As a result you must

have noticed reduced water logging

in the estate despite abundant rain

this year.

Environmental issues have been

taken on war footage to maintain

uninterrupted industrial growth

and maintaining the ecological

balance at the same time. We have

already formed a dedicated

technical team consisting of

chemical engineer, environmental

and effluent treatment experts

from the members industries. This

team is working hard to find out

techno economic solution for

better treatability of industrial

w a s t e s t o c o m p l y t h e

environmental norms. We have

also started mass tree plantation at

various pockets of the estate in

scientific manner. These trees not

only will increase greenery but will

also absorb gases and suspended

particles. We are sure these

activities will surely help us to make

a Green Global Vapi.

Team VIA will also focus in

empowering the women and the

youth of the estate as promised

during the installation ceremony.

We have already organized a

program celebrating 150th Birth

Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda

where an inspirational speech and

interactive session was held with

Respected Nivedita Bhide, VP,

Vivekananda Kendra to strengthen

the women and the youth of our

society. We have also organized a

career guidance mela to provide

opportunit ies to the youth

aspirants to find & select the right

career.

With your support and help we wish

to extend our activities in social and

industr ial development and

promise to make a Green Global

Vapi.

EDITORIAL COLUMN

I take the pride and

thank you to give

the opportunity to

write this editorial

of the 54th Volume

of VIA Moments.

The new team of VIA for the term

2013-15 has taken charge and

m a d e c e r t a i n m o v e s i n

strengthening the association. The

necessity was felt to involve 2nd

generation entrepreneurs in the

activities of the association was felt

and therefore a committee for the

youth VIA Yuva was formed with an

additional strength of 74 youth

from the member industries.

Vapi industries Association has

always given priority to Industries

needs as well as to the human

needs. On receiving calls from the

blood banks of the district about

the scarcity of blood an urgent

B lood Donat ion Camp was

organized to provide blood to the

needy patients.

With the support of industries

members 250 units of blood was

collected during the camo. A career

guidance mela was also organized

to help the job aspiring students to

select and identify their career.

During these two years we also

promise to st rengthen the

Associat ion by adding new

members. We also plan to develop

facilities like library swimming pool,

banquet halls to facilitate the

members and the citizens of Vapi.

While building additional facilities

like we will also be up-grading the

e x i s t i n g c o n fe r e n c e h a l l s ,

auditorium and the terrace dome

for better utility.

W h i l e s t r e n g t h e n i n g t h e

Association we will also be focusing

in up-gradation of infrastructure to

facilitate the industries and the

people of Vapi.

But for doing all this we need all the

support and co-operation of yours

as rendered by you in the past.

We will look forward to march

ahead hand in hand to reach

another milestone.

April 2013 at VIA Auditorium in

Members of VIA was convened with

the VC&MD to discuss about

various policy related issues of GIDC.

Shri Sharadbhai Thakar, President

(Elect) gave a floral welcome to Shri

Swain Saheb. Thereafter a quick

round of self introduction took

place for the present committee

members. Thereafter 18 policy

related issues of the industry

members with GIDC were taken up.

Shri Swain Saheb after hearing the

issues assured to resolve most of

the issues out of that.

The Annual General Meeting of

held at 2:00 pm on 10th May 2013

where the annual business and

accounts of Vapi Industries

Association was kept in front of the

members for approval and the

same was approved by all the

present members unanimously.

The installation ceremony was

chaired by Hon'ble Shri Ganpatbhai

Vasava, Minister for Forest &

Environment, Tribal Welfare,

Women & Children Welfare, Law &

Parliamentary Affairs for the state

of Gujarat. The new President and

his team took the oath in presence

of the Hon'ble Minister. During his

speech the new President Shri

Sharadbhai Thakar expressed his

thanks for the support received

from the members during the

electoral process of VIA. He said

during his tenure VIA will focus on

betterment and up-gradation of

Infrastructure of the estate to

facilitate the industries members.

enhancement of the technical staffs

of the industries. He also expressed

his thanks to the Hon'ble Speakers

for sparing their valuable time and

attending this knowledge building

effort.

Vapi Industries Association is

putting its' continuous effort in

improving the environmental

status and in balancing industrial

growth with ecological balance in

the Vapi GIDC Estate and the

surrounding areas. VIA has also

played an important role in creating

and spreading awareness to the

c i t i zens of Vapi about the

Environment and the necessity to

maintain and preserve a perfect

Environmental status. For doing so

VIA has always celebrated special

days like World Environment Day on

5th of June every year.

This year a Tree Plantation was

planned on World Environment Day

to increase greenery and improve

the environment in the estate. The

Vapi. Shri Sharadbhai took an oath

to plant 1 Lacs of trees in the estate

within this year and to initiate that

about 5000 tree were planted on

that day itself at the site. He assured

the present that the Team VIA will

do all the needful to fulfill their

dream of a Green Global Vapi and

called for the support from all the

industries members to prove that

Vapi is as concerned about

industrial growth as of maintaining

ecological balance to combat issues

like global warming etc.

Pidilite Industries Ltd. has extended

their support to this noble initiative

and contributed a sizeable amount

towards this project. Many more

industries are likely to follow them

in fulfilling the dream of making a

Green Global Vapi.

During his speech Dr. Pande

appreciated the effort of Team VIA.

He also pointed that more effort

needs to be put to ensure that these

trees planted, survives and grows

properly. He suggested about

holding a yearly audit of the plants

to keep a track on the survival ratio.

Further showing his complete faith

on Team VIA he said he will expect

VIA to come up with first ever Green

Commercial and Industrial Complex

in the state of Gujarat.

Hundreds of industries members

It is usually observed that Blood

Banks faces in shortage of blood

during the month June, July and

August every year. This year phone

calls were received from the blood

banks of the Valsad district stating

extreme scarcity of blood and

requesting to hold a blood donation

camp to mitigate that.

An urgent blood donation camp

was organized on 13th June 2013 in
