Microcell 159 is suitable for use in making plastic park benches and garden furniture, cable sheathing, tubing and outdoor wastebins. It could also be used for injection-moulded automotive under-the-hood parts, which is a sizeable potential market, bearing in mind that rodents reportedly cause over 205,000 worth of damage per year to vehicles in Germany. The material has a 30% additive level and has been formulated both for EVA and LDPE plastic films. Viba recommends usage at 5-7% concentrations in monolayer films up to 150 mm thick or at 4% concentration in monolayer films up to 200 mm thick. For coextruded films facing the greenhouse interior, the new Vibatan masterbatch should be used at 6-8% concentration in the core and at 4% concentration in the outer layer. Viba has also begun offering masterbatches based on calcined kaolin with a light diffuser additive, intended for LDPE plastic film applications.
