Great Fear in the Church…”and great fear fell on all them that heard these things.” Acts 5:5

In 32 years, CBBC has been a channel for thousands of men and women to hear the King James Bible being preached. Since it was started by Pastor Ed in 1976, there has never been a Sun-day that CBBC’s pulpit has been vacant—never a Sunday that its pews were empty. Hundreds of sinners have been converted and many Christians have been edified.

As the church grew, not only did it continually develop its respect to God’s Word, but it also started to influence other churches with its fervency by hosting conferences. It has always been considered by CBBC to be a great privilege and honor to sponsor

annual conferences and camps.As a one-year-old church, CBBC had already held its First

Missions Conference in 1980. Since then, the church annually held Missions Conferences to challenge Christians to give to missions and to motivate the called to surrender their lives for missions.

In 1993, the First National Pastors and Workers' Confer-ence was held. It has been recorded that 273 pastors and workers attended the event. Such conference aims to fire up those who are already in the full-time service and to encour-age others to involve themselves in the ministry.

Pastor Ed, having great reverence to God’s Word, grabbed every opportunity to hear and learn from it. One of these was when he attended the Pastors’ School held by the First Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana in 1994. In the same year, God had also blessed CBBC to have

I. It starts with the recollection of the great salvation that the Lord has given to us.

A. We must remember that we were saved by God’s mercies.B. We must realize that we were saved by God to serve.

II. It is stirred with the recognition of the grand sanctuary that the Lord has grafted us into.

A. It is God that added us to His body. B. God added us to be a complement (to complete) to His body.C. God added us to compliment (to praise) His work as we give our best for His body.

III. It stays afresh with the realization of the glorious satisfaction that the Lord will grant us.

A. God will be the only Judge . B. God will surely repay in His time.C. God will surely repay in a great manner.

Another conference that the Church hosts annually is the National Baptist Youth Convention. It intends to call, challenge and charge young people to love and serve God through the

Baptist church. The first NBYC was held in CBBC in 1999. More than 500 delegates came from dif-ferent Baptist churches all over the Philippines.

During the year 2001, CBBC held a Pastors College hosted by Clarence Sexton together with his Crown College staff and students. This Con-ference aimed to prod pastors to continue doing God’s will and stay faithful to the landmarks of the Baptist Faith. As prayed for, the Church accommo-dated more than 400 pastors and preachers from

all over the country who went home revived and recharged.The First Asian Spiritual Leadership Conference of 2002

was held on November 12-14, and attended by 995 delegates. With Dr. Paul Chappell and Dr. R.B. Oullette as the main speak-

ers, the conference was characterized by great preaching, great soulwinning atmosphere, great revival spirit and great music. This was much blessed as pastors, workers, and members alike were strengthened, equipped and energized for the cause of Christ!

CBBC hosted the Fresh Start Pastors’ and Workers’ Conference on the first week of the year 2005. An evange-listic service on the last night brought in an estimated 18,000 visitors flooding the auditoriums, classrooms and the subdi-vision street, thus instilling great fear to them who witnessed the said event. This encouraged many Pastors and Preach-

ers to be faithful in fulfilling their commitment to do more soulwinning in their respective churches.

The year 2008 opened with a challenge through a conference for the pastors and workers with guest speakers Dr. Dick Webster and Dr. Mickey Carter. Also in September of the same year, CBBC held its Steward-ship Conference Soulwinning Clinic. The said confer-ence aimed to teach members how to do “confronta-tional soulwinning”. Also, through this, members who already know how to win souls were encouraged to continue and win more souls to the Lord.

CBBC started with a Soulwinning Conference Hosted by Evangelist Dr. Mike Wells of Ocean Springs, Missouri, in 2009. In February, during its 30th anniversary month-long celebra-tion, the Church held its first Prophetic Revivals with Dr. Larry Clayton as Guest Speaker.

The Church held an Investors’ Conference in September last year (2010), with Dr. Gil Laurena. Members of CBBC as well as of fellowshipping churches were challenged to invest their time, talents and treasures in the Lord’s work. Also, in November, CBBC’s annual Missions Conference with the theme, “For Such a Time As This” was well-attended with 500 delegates from different churches.

There have never been ‘ordinary’ weekdays in CBBC, for such days have also been used for the proc-lamation of God’s Word. If there are no scheduled confer-ences within the week, Monday and Tuesday nights are used for BHBC Chapel Hour. There is Doctrine Class to-gether with Church Prayer Meeting every Wednesday. There are Area devotions on Thursdays and Disciplers’ Meeting and devotion are on Fridays. On Saturdays, a night class, known as Sabbath School is conducted. It was initiated in the early 1990’s for the "frontliners," who miss Sunday School on Sunday mornings because of their ministries such as usher-ing and teaching children's Sunday School. Today, around 200 frontliners regularly gather on Saturday nights. Through such, CBBC learned to have great fear toward God and His Word.

The job begins today right where you are.

Ask yourself, "Am I willing to be a bond servant of Jesus Christ?"

It must have been a difficult task for Elijah—asking a widow woman for her last meager meal. Before this, God had provided for Elijah through the ravens and the brook Cherith, but the birds stopped coming and the brook dried up. It might have been uncomfortable asking the widow to feed him before she fed herself or her own family. But if Elijah did not challenge the widow to give to God first, he would deny her God’s blessings. God had promised Elijah that if the woman would be obedient, God would supply for her through the famine.

A missionary or someone on a mission trip after seeing poverty stricken people say things like, “These people are too poor to give.” But God blesses people who, regardless of their meager fare, began to give to the work of the Lord. The churches of Macedonia, though poor, were an example of giving in 2 Corinthians 8:1–2, “Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.” Giving is not just the luxury of the rich, it is also the privilege of the poor.

Jesus promised His disciples that if they sought first the kingdom of God and His righteousness that He would supply all their needs. Regrettably, most people believe that they must first take care of themselves, and then they can do things for the Lord. The Bible, however, teaches us that if we will receive from the Lord, we must first give to the Lord. God promises in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

God asks us to give to Him first because He desires to be first in every area of our lives. When we are saved, Jesus becomes present in our lives. Yet Colossians 1:18 states clearly that God desires more than a presence or even prominence—He wants the preeminence. He is to be first above anyone or anything.

On the first day of the week our Lord was resurrected

from the dead. On the first day of the week the early disciples gathered to worship. On the first day of the week the disciples were instructed, “Let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him.” We are commanded to bring the first fruits of our labors, not the leftovers. First place is the only place for the Lord, and He alone is worthy of first place.

Mature believers know life is not about themselves. John the Baptist said, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30). Paul declared himself to be the least of all the apostles in 1 Corinthians 15:9, “For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.”

In Ephesians 3:8 he said he was the least of all the saints, “Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.” And in 1 Timothy 1:15 he refers to himself as the chief of sinners, “This is a faith-ful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”

The more Paul grew in the Lord, the smaller he became in his own thinking. Many say of themselves, “You have to take care of number one.” Who is number one in your life?

It is amazing to see number of Christians who treat the Great Commission as a suggestion. Worldwide evan-gelization is not something we do if we have time and mon-ey after we have taken care of our “important” tasks. This is the one task that the resurrected Christ emphasized. It is more than a program in our church, it is the program of the church. This was first with our Lord, and it should be first with every Bible-believing church. The untold millions remain untold because we have not made God first. Give of your best to the Master; Give Him first place in your heart; Give Him first place in your service; Consecrate every part.Give, and to you will be given, God His beloved Son gave; Gratefully seeking to serve Him, Give Him the best that you have.

Who or What Comes First?This reverence behooved the Church to be faithful and consistent with God’s precepts.
