2. Important Safety Instructions

1. Read Instructions - All the safety andoperating instructions should be read beforethe product is operated.

2. Retain Instructions - The safety andoperating instructions should be retained forfuture reference.

3. Heed Warnings - All warnings on theproduct and in the operating instructionsshould be adhered to.

4. Follow Instructions - All operating and useinstructions should be followed.

5. Cleaning - Unplug this product from the walloutlet before cleaning. Do not use liquidcleaners or aerosol. Use a damp cloth forcleaning.

6. Attachments - Do not use attachments notrecommended by the product manufacturer,as they may cause hazards.

7. Water and Moisture - Do not use thisproduct near water - for example, near abath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, laundrytub, in a wet basement, near a swimmingpool, and the like.

8. Accessories - Do not place this product onan unstable cart, stand, tripod bracket, ortable. The product may fail, causing seriousinjury to a child or adult, and serious damageto the product. Use only with a cart, stand,tripod, bracket, or table recommended by themanufacturer, or sold with the product. Anymounting of the product should follow themanufacturer’s instructions, and should usea mounting accessory recommended by themanufacturer.

9. A product and cartcombination should bemoved with care. Quickstops, excessive force,and uneven surfacesmay cause the productand cart combination to overturn.

10. Ventilation - Slots and openings in thecabinet are provided for ventilation and toensure reliable operation of the product.They protect it from overheating, and theseopenings must not be blocked or covered.The openings should never be blocked byplacing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, orother similar surface. This product should notbe placed in a built-in installation such as abookcase or rack unless proper ventilation isprovided, or the manufacturer’s instructionshave been adhered to.

11. Power Sources - This product should beoperated only from the type of powersource indicated on the marking label. Ifyou are not sure of the type of powersupply in your home, consult your productdealer or local power company. Forproducts intended for operation frombattery power or other sources, refer to theoperating instructions.

12. Grounding or Polarization - This productmay be equipped with a polarizedalternating-current line plug (a plug havingone blade wider than the other). This plugwill fit into the power outlet only one way.This is a safety feature. If you are unable toinsert the plug fully into the outlet, tryreversing the plug. If the plug still cannot beinserted, contact your electrician to replaceyour obsolete outlet. Do not defeat thesafety purpose of the polarized plug.

Important Safety Instructions

13. Power-Card Protection - Power-supplycords should be routed so that they are notlikely to be walked on or pinched by itemsplaced upon or against them payingparticular attention to cords at plugs,convenience receptacles, and the pointwhere they exit from the product.

14. Protective Attachment Plug - The productis equipped with on attachment plug havingoverload protection. This is a safety feature.See instruction Manual for replacement of,or resetting the protective device. Ifreplacement of the plug is required, be surethe service technician has uses areplacement plug specif ied by themanufacturer that has the same overloadprotection as the original plug.

15. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If anoutside antenna or cable system isconnected to the product, be sure theantenna or cable system is grounded so asto provide some protection against voltagesurges and built-up static charges. Article810 of the National Electrical Code,ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information withregard to proper grounding of the mast andsupporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size ofgrounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to groundingelectrodes, and requirements for thegrounding electrode (Refer to the figure onpage 5 ).

16. Lightning - For added protection of thisproduct during a lightning storm, or when itis left unattended and unused for longperiods of time, unplug it from the wall outletand disconnect the antenna or cablesystem. This will prevent damage to theproduct due to lightning and power-linesurges.

17. Power Lines - An outside antenna systemshould not be located in the vicinity ofoverhead power lines or other electric lightor power circuits, or where it can fall intosuch power lines or circuits.

When installing on outside antenna system,extreme care should be taken to keep fromtouching such power lines or circuits ascontact with them might be fatal.

18. Overloading - Do not overload wall outlets,extension cords, or integral conveniencereceptacles, as this can result in a risk offire or electric shock.

19. Object and Liquid Entry - Never pushobjects of any kind into this product throughopenings as they may touch dangerousvoltage points or short-out parts that couldresult in a fire or electric shock. Never spillliquid of any kind on the product.

20. Servicing - Do not attempt to service thisproduct yourself as opening or removingcovers my expose you to dangerous voltageor other hazards. Refer all servicing toqualified service personnel.

21. Damage Requiring Service - Unplug thisproduct from the wall outlet and referservicing to qualified service personnelunder the following conditions.

A. When the power-supply cord or plug isdamaged.

B. If liquid has been spilled, or objects havefallen into the product.

C. If the product has been exposed to rainor water.

D. If the product does not operate normallyby following the operating instructions.Adjust only those controls that arecovered by the operating instructions, asan improper adjustment of other controlsmay result in damage and will oftenrequire extensive work by a qualifiedtechnician to restore the product to itsnormal operation.

E. If the product has been dropped ordamaged in any way.

F. When the product exhibits a distinctchange in performance - this indicates aneed or service.

22. Replacement Parts - When replacementparts are required, be sure the servicetechnician has used replacement partsspecified by the manufacturer or have thesame characteristics as the original part.Unauthorized substitutions may result infire, electric shock or other hazards.

23. Safety Check - Upon completion of anyservice or repairs to this product, ask theservice technician to perform safety checksto determine that the product is in properoperating condition.

24. Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The productshould be mounted to a wall or ceiling onlyas recommended by the manufacturer.

25. Heat - The product should be situated awayfrom heat sources such as radiators, heatresistors, or other products (includingamplifiers) that produce heat.
