A goal needs to say how much and by when, and it must be believable by you. Later in this workbook you will see that you are to create a video tip that should be 1-3 minutes in length. So let’s turn creating that video tip into a goal.
Remember: A goal needs to be specific and measurable. It has to have a time limit and it has to be believable by you. How does this sound?
I will have a 1-3 minute video tip visible on facebook by 5:00pm Tuesday March 10, 2020
Let’s look at that goal. It looks like it meets all the criteria. Anyone could go to Facebook at 5:00pm on Tuesday March 10, 2020 and see if you had a 1-3 minute video on there.
Once you have created this goal, use the other success tips you have learned in the previous modules to make that goal a reality!
Write your goal here: ___________________________________ ________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________

Welcome to Module 4 of…Lights, Camera, ACTION!
Live Stream (includes webinars) or Pre-recordedThese are the two general categories for presenting information through “video” or “movies”. There are benefits to both of them AND they require different types of equipment.
Live Stream Equipment Suggestions:• Smart Phone• Built in Web Cam• External Web Cam• Microphone (I use what is built into my equipment)• Tele-prompter• Good lighting• A place to broadcast• Possibly some sort of software for going live• High speed Internet
Pre-Recorded Video• Smart Phone• “Camcorder” type video recorder• Storage cards for video• Tri-pod• Actuating Arm to hold camera• Microphone (I use what is built into my equipment)• Tele-prompter• Good lighting• Software to edit, convert and/or compress• A place to store/play the videos (might need Filezilla to upload to
website)• High speed internet

WHY are you creating this recorded video or live broadcast??
There are lots of reasons you might choose to create a video, and knowing the purpose of the video/live broadcast will allow you to tailor it to get the results are are seeking.
• OnLine Class-Delivering Information either paid or free• Sell product • Increase Followers on Social Media • Get opt-ins for your email/newsletter list • Establish you as an expert in your field • Establish a relationship with the viewer • Build excitement for an upcoming event • Other
Once you have decided WHY you want to create a video or live broadcast, you can then determine which type will be best…prerecorded video or live broadcast. Part of your decision will be made based on your comfort level, but remember…Change requires you to get out of your comfort zone!

Let’s start at the very beginning…Pre-recorded VideoIf you have never done video before…start small. Don’t do what I did. My first pre-recorded video was a 6 part class, and I didn’t have a camera or or editing software. I was clueless, but determination and action made it work. I called a friend and asked her to help me, she said yes and the fun began! BUT….I am recommending you do things differently.
Start with a 1-3 minute video tip. 1. Determine your topic2. Get all your “props” ready3. Write up a script4. Practice Practice Practice5. Get your equipment together6. Get your room set up so it will look good in the video7. Record yourself as if you are doing it live….don’t stop, just plow through8. Watch the recording and if necessary do it again until you are pleased with the
results9. Edit your video10.Upload the video, test to be sure it is ready for others to view, let others know it is
there

• Topics: Brainstorm your topic ideas, you can do this by writing a list or by using the post it note technique, or any other technique you would like
• Gather your props: When I am doing video tips in the sewing world I always have step by steps or samples or some type of visual to show the viewer exactly what I am doing.
• Write your script: • Use a consistent introduction for videos• Introduce your topic at the beginning• Dive into great information• Use a consistent sign off for videos
• Practice Practice Practice: First I sit in my sewing room and practice with my props making sure I have everything I need and it all flows together. Then I walk around the house going over my script for as long as I need to so I am confident that I know what I am going to say as soon as the camera starts rolling.
• Equipment: • Camera on tri-pod• Storage disk empty so new video can be recorded• Battery Charged on camera or plugged in
• Room Set Up: Make sure when you look through the camera everything you see is what you want to see. Are the cabinet doors closed? Are the counters cleaned off? Is there anything on the floor? Is my dog put in her room for the duration of my video? Is my phone in airplane mode? Check to make sure everything is exactly how you want it.
• Recording: I like to have someone film me if I am only using one camera. The reason for this is that it gives more interest to the video. The person behind the camera can zoom in and out as you are talking. If don’t have anyone to record you don’t worry, your videos can still be awesome. When I don’t have someone to record me I use two cameras and do “cut away shots” The example that shows this is from “Sewcially Stunning” an online class (not a tip). You will see this in the members section.
• Watch, re-record if necessary. Is there anything out of place in the video, is your sound okay? Is the lighting okay? Could you see all your props like you wanted to?
• Edit: If you can, add your logo and some music. Cut out anything that your don’t want, splice in parts if necessary, and add your website address at the end.
• Upload and share: Determine where you are going to store your video. For now I recommend you either keep it on your website or use YouTube or Vimeo

Pre-Recorded Tip Video Example: Watch in members area 1. Topic: Double Sided Embroidery2. Have all the “props” that you need3. Script:
Hi I’m Margaret Moorehead founder of the Virtual Sewing Guild and welcome to my sewing room. Today I have a tip for you about when you’re doing an embroidery that is going to show on the front and the back, like I did on this table runner. Now it’s a little hard to see on the table runner because the back of the project uses a print fabric, so I am going to use these here. Here is the front of my project and here is the back. As you can see both sides look beautiful. When you are doing a project like this, be sure to thread the needle and the bobbin with the same type of thread. I wound the bobbin with the same embroidery thread that I was using in the needle and that way the back will look as beautiful as the front. My other tip for double sided embroidery is this: Pull the bobbin thread up to the top and that way it won’t get tangled underneath or leave a long bobbin tail on the back side. From my sewing machine to yours, happy creating.Note: If you are putting this in a membership area (as I do), there is no need for a call to action…they are already members. If you are you using this on FB or something similar, you might want to add a call to action. (See Live Stream Section for examples)
4. Practice Practice Practice 5. Equipment
• Camera and tripod and my husband filming• Camera plugged in and battery charged• Light is good in my sewing room so no additional lighting needed• Storage cards are empty so new video can be stored• I have all the software needed for after the video is recorded
6. Make sure room looks how I want it….look through camera and make sure all looks good.
7. Record 8. Watch the recording and if necessary do it again until you are pleased with the
results9. Edit your video
• Music and logo added to the beginning• Music, logo and website added at the end
10.Uploaded to Vimeo, embedded onto my website and announced through my newsletter system that it was ready.

FB Live Stream:
1. Topic: Double Sided Embroidery2. Have all the “props” that you need3. Script: Write your script as you did for the pre-recorded video and be sure to add a
call to action.• “Be sure to create your FREE Virtual Sewing Guild Membership to
see more videos like this. All you need to do is to do www.VirtualSewingGuild.net to create your membership. You can find the link in the comments section under this video”
• Or… “If you haven’t already done so, please be sure to “like” our page so you can see all the great information we have to share with you.”
• Or…. “Did you know we have a special Facebook Group just for those of you who want to get professional sewing results. Click the link below to join us”
• Share this FB live with a friend• Post your comment below to be entered into a drawing
I think you get the idea…you want to be specific and ask them to do something. That is what a “call to action is”
4. Practice Practice Practice. (If you are using “eCamm” you can do a practice broadcast by selecting “Only Me”. If you don’t have “eCamm” you can do as many practices as you want in your “fake” facebook group.
5. Equipment• Webcam• I need to use my “filming” lights in my office for good lighting• Good internet connection (I have two satellite dishes, one is better for
uploading, so I need to make sure I am connected to that system. • This does not get edited, it gets recorded as you present it and then it stays
on Facebook for people to watch later6. Make sure your room looks how you want it….make sure everything is in its place7. Go Live 8. Have notes on your desk and refer to them, I think this is better than a teleprompter
since YOU are going to be showing yourself in this video. If you use a teleprompter it is often times very evident.
9. Put out an email to direct everyone to your FB Live Video

Webinar Live Stream: Watch Webinar in Members Area
1. Topic: Sell Premium Membership2. Props: Done with Powerpoint and pictures are taken of all props. If I use pre-
recorded video it is less than 2 minutes3. Script: I write out my intro and my “commercial” but the rest of the webinar is done
by giving information that goes along with the powerpoint presentation I have put together.
4. Be sure to put your web address on every page5. Be sure to make the address of where to purchase very visible on all the sales
pages6. Intro (5-7 minutes)7. Educate (20 minutes)8. “Cliff hanger” right before your commercial telling them what is coming up after the
commercial (why they should hang around)9. Commercial (10-15 minutes)10.Educate (15 minutes)11.Review Commercial
Selling tips:
• Be confident in your sale• Show them the feature and then the BENEFIT
Example: Water Soluble Stabilizer • Feature: Stabilizer washes away with water• Benefit: The front looks as nice as the back, no residue….Example: Premium Membership • Feature: 8 Projects with written and video instructions• Benefit: Get more done in less time because you won’t be trying to figure it
all out on your own.• Benefit: Save money because you won’t be making costly mistakes• Feature: Personal Calls with Margaret• Benefit: All your questions will be answered so you can get the results you
want• Take your time as you go through the sale. Explain that you want to solve their
issues and you think this can do it. • Talk about pain points and how this product will solve that pain
