In recent years, despite the difficult economic situation, due to the impact of the world econom-ic crisis and recession, our agricultural sector continues to represent an important role as one of the pillars for the country's economy.

In nearly 30 years of renovation, Vietnam's agricultural growth rate is fast and stable with her agricultural structure shifted towards the positive. Agricultural sector has contributed 18% - 22% GDP to the economy and accounted for 23% - 35% of the national export value.

Also, Vietnam has widely been in the stage of deeper integration into the world econo-my. The Vietnam agricultural sector must comply with very strict guidelines of quality, food safety, competition and prices. If we do not have good preparation, Vietnam agricultural prod-ucts will face difficulties not only on international markets but also at home.

Under the auspices of Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and other associations, organizations and enterprises, HUBA in co-operation with Dong Nam Advertis-ing and Commercial Promotion JSC successfully organized the Vietnam Farm & Food Expo (from 2013 – 2016). In 2017, to fully meet all the needs in displaying all kinds of products in the input and output agricltural sector, we continue to organize the Vietnam Farm and Food Expo’ 2017, and concurrently with the Vietnam International Agricultual Machinery, Equipment, Technology and Materials Exhibition- Agritech Expo’ 2017 from July 26th – 28th, 2017 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), 799 Nguyen Van Linh Str., Tan Phu Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The expected scale of “Farm & Food Expo 2017” and “Agritech Expo 2017” is over 300 booths from 200 local and foreign exhibitors. The shows are hopefully well-performed to satisfy all types of needs in agriculture, aiming to promote our local agricultural development towards sustainability, strengthen the link between domestic and foreign enterprises in invest-ment, production and consumption of agricultural products with value-added and high quality. In addition to the meaning of economy , your valued participation in the shows is also seen as a meaningful activity that responds to the 3-Agri Policy (Agriculture, Rural Area, Farmers) of the Party and the Government.

After 10 years of WTO accession (2007 - 2016), the economic growth rate of Vietnam reached 6.29% on average, out of which the growth rate of agriculture, forestry and fishery accounted for 3.5%. Vietnam's export value of agro-forestry and fisheryproducts in 2016 was estimated at US $ 31 billion and it strives to reach US $ 39-40 billion by 2020.

With over 9 million hectares of agriculture land, including two fertile deltas, the Mekong Delta and the Red River Delta, Vietnam is considered to be the best rice growing region in the world. In addition, Vietnam has also emerged as one of thelargest exporters of rice, tea, coffee and other agricultural, forestry and fisheryproducts in the world.

The development objective of Vietnam's agricultural sector in the 2016-2020 period is to develop a comprehensive and sustainable agriculture and large commodityproduction basing on the application of comparative advantages, applying advanced science and technology to increase productivity, quality, efficiency and bettercompetitiveness, meet diverse domestic and export demands, protect and useefficiently and sustainably natural resources and environment.

With the advantage of experience as well as the favorable climate conditions,Vietnam's agricultural sector is on the sight of many foreign investors, especially when economic and trade agreements are signed, they will bring many newopportunities to the rise of Vietnamese agriculture.

VIETNAM TOWARDS A MODERN AGRICULTURE

The development orientation of Vietnam's agriculture from 2016 to 2020 indicates that Vietnam needs to develop a comprehensive agriculture in a modern and sustainable manner.

Vietnam has enormous potential for agricultural development but the rate of science and technology application is not high, that of mechanization in agriculture is low leading to low productivity and quality. In addition, the agriculture is facing newchallenges in the global integration process. However, at the same time, she also has another opportunity to see big local and foreign investors turning to invest inagriculture. After signing the TPP and a series of other free trade agreements, Vietnam will be an attractive destination for foreign investors in the agricultural sector. This will help accelerate the process of industrialization and modernization in Vietnam'sagriculture.

Vietnamese agriculture is not only concerned with increasing productivity, quality,efficiency and competitiveness, but also confirms the sustainability in the effective use and protection of natural resources and the environment. Harmonizing theeconomic efficiency and ecological environment balance is also a great requirement of Vietnamese agriculture.

AGRITECH Vietnam 2017 aims to help investors, establishments, suppliers ofmachinery, equipment, technology and materials from the world and other countries in the region, more carefully understand the agricultural market and the futuredevelopment of Vietnam’s agriculture; specifically understand what the industrialization and modernization of Vietnam’s agriculture will be to orient the business accordingly; simultaneously establish the necessary relationships for such trade activities in the most convenient and effective way.
