2 MONTHS INTERNSHIP IN VIETNAM (HANOI)

During my final year in polytechnic, I went

to Hanoi for my Overseas internship

project (OSIP) for 2 months to teach

English, Math and Science at RV Centre, a

social enterprise aimed at making a

difference to the world through providing

education and training opportunities to

students and other learners

internationally.

This is our office and it is where

we prepare and plan our teaching

materials according to the

schedule that we were given. On

a typical week, there will be up to

4 classes to teach.

This is a snapshot of our English class. To make the lessons interactive, we came up with an idea of teaching them how to improve their memory by learning certain memory techniques and at the same time teaching them some basic English vocabulary words. The students had fun learning and they pick up some useful skills that would serve them well in their future career.

We also assisted in the setting up an exhibition fair to promote their business and we are part of their marketing efforts to distribute flyers to the public by a motorbike around the neighborhood.

The picture on the right shows the director of RV Centre giving his thank you speech for our contribution during the 2 months and we were presented with us an appreciation plague for assisting in the exhibition fair and teaching the students.

We took a photo of the class coming to an end of our trip. It was a memorable and unforgettable experience during this 2 months journey. I also picked up a new language; Vietnamese by interacting with the locals and my public speaking skills improved as a result of standing in front of the whole class to teach every day. This experience has inspired me to be a leader and influence people who are less fortunate than us.
