Minutes of March Membership Meeting

The meeting was called to order by President Paulline at 1900 hours. Officers present, Vice-president Lyle Peterson, Secretary, John Lavelle, Treasurer Harold Hansen. The members recited the pledge of allegiance and observed a moment of silence for POW/MIA and also for those still serving in harms way. A sheet was passed for members to sign and each member stated their attendance. The minutes from the January meeting were accepted as posted in the newsletter. Larry Witt informed the group that our current membership is now at 199. Harold Hansen informed the chapter our annual chapter financial report has been filed. We discussed members in distress which included Robert Konrardy and Denny Grey, the chapter will keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Honor guard took part in a number of funerals during the months of February and March. Ed Hildebrand spoke of the last nursing home visit which Jim Owens and Lyle Peterson also attended. The next Iowa City VA Hospital visit will be on June 15th. Ed also spoke to the members concerning the status of the 50th Anniversary Parade Committee. At this time we are looking into possible costs for liability insurance and attempting to get the Illinois Department of Transportation to gain permission to use the Centennial Bridge. Ed Gaudet told the members of a recent complaint by a VSO concerning a doctor in the Iowa City VA Hospital system. Greg Paulline is still seeking volunteers to assist with the Clover Sales in Iowa City that supports our VSOs who serve us at the VA Hospital. The Clover Sales Day is Saturday April 25th and we need volunteers from 9 ~ 12 and 12 ~ 5 at five locations in Iowa City. Ed Gaudet had beer glasses for sale at the meeting. A case of these beer glasses is $84. The VVA Iowa State Council logo is on each glass. Joe Crowley a student from St. Ambrose University attended the meeting as a spectator and was so impressed by how the meeting went that he made a donation to the chapter. Meeting was adjourned.
