CHALLENGE How does a 20+ year-old leader in technology compete for technical talent in a marketplace swarming with ultra-cool startups? That was the question facing Microsoft. They partnered with JWT INSIDE to develop an innovative way to reach out to their “core tech” audience consisting of software developers, testers and program managers. To meet this objective, we created a microsite to provide information to the “core tech” audience in a way that could showcase their innovation and technology leadership. Research showed that this audience was interested in learning about the technology they would work on, and wanted to hear directly from Microsoft’s “core tech” team. We knew this site needed to be authentic and display the realities of working at Microsoft. SOLUTION We created View<myWorld>, a microsite that featured real Microsoft software developers, testers and program managers speaking in their own words about their experience at Microsoft. The site blends animation and contemporary designs with authentic, un-edited employee content including profiles, RSS feeds, videos and more. We were able to incorporate an informal roundtable series to address topics like career development, innovation and work/life balance. In addition, the site aggregates a series of Microsoft related blogs providing a gateway into the many Microsoft resources available online. RESULTS The project created an uncensored forum where Microsoft’s techs can talk to their peers on the outside. Not only did the site give others an opportunity to hear the real story, from the real people, creating the real technology; but it also looked hip and had a candid point of view. It was exactly what Microsoft was looking for! CHALLENGEHow does a 20+ year-old leader in technology compete for technical talent in a marketplace swarming with ultra-cool startups? That was the question facing Microsoft.

They partnered with JWT INSIDE to develop an innovative way to reach out to their “core tech” audience consisting of software developers, testers and program managers. To meet this objective, we created a microsite to provide information to the “core tech” audience in a way that could showcase their innovation and technology leadership.

Research showed that this audience was interested in learning about the technology they would work on, and wanted to hear directly from Microsoft’s “core tech” team. We knew this site needed to be authentic and display the realities of working at Microsoft.

SOLUTIONWe created View<myWorld>, a microsite that featured real Microsoft software developers, testers and program managers speaking in their own words about their experience at Microsoft.

RESULTSThe project created an uncensored forum where Microsoft’s techs can talk to their peers on the outside. Not only did the site give others an opportunity to hear the real story, from the real people, creating the real technology; but it also looked hip and had a candid point of view.
