MORE myths!Since myths are a way to explain something that we don’t understand, there are some myths and legends that persist in our culture today. What are some that you used to (or still do!) believe in? Why do we still have these myths? (Discuss and summarize your ideas below)

CHOOSE ONE:Create your own Pandora’s Box

Poster—draw a replica of Pandora’s Box. Inside the box, choose at least FIVE things to represent “evil” and at least THREE things to represent “hope.” You can be very metaphorical and find newspaper headlines to represent evil, or a picture of a doctor to represent hope. Label things!

2. Write and publish your own modern day myth Writing—write at least a page

explaining something in the modern world with a myth. Be creative—you can explain anything you want, from why there are rainbows or what happened to the unicorn, or even why hot dogs come in packs of eight and buns in packs of six.

3. Write poems inspired by mythology Writing—Write an Epic Poem—a very long poem

describing a journey or a quest by a hero. You can base it on mythology, or come up with your own.

4. Research and write about an urban legend

Writing—Find something that people believe is true today and determine if it is true or not.
