PRESENTATION
David Llewellyn will demonstrate how to use ‘Google Earth Pro’ program. More info:-p.7
As we are now getting nearer to our final meeting of this financial year, I would like our members to consider filling the roles of some of the positions that will become vacant on the committee. Being on
the committee and seeing how the club is run can be a lot of fun and very rewarding.
I would like to say how much I enjoyed our presenter Jacs Betlam at our last meeting. Jacs has so much experience and knowledge to impart, and after her presen-tation, I had learnt more that night than I have at any other of our meetings.
I am looking forward to David Llewellyn’s talk at our next meet-ing. David will show us how to navigate around a Google Earth
program. It will be very interesting learning another technique and David certainly has got this program up and running.

JOKES of the MONTH
Stay Focused and Start Shooting. Bob Hallett President
Permission granted by www.worldstart.com
To all of our members, thank you for turning up
each club night and making the club what it is
today. We have a great club and I would hate to see
it fold with lack of support.
Our new venue (The Wattle Grove
Youth Centre) is working well…all
we now have to do is work out how to
cut all the echo out of the room.
If I cannot make our club night due to
Margo’s illness, I would like to thank
all our committee members for the
wonderful job in making my job a very
pleasurable one .
Thank you John Wilson for doing a
very good job with the sound each
month as it is very difficult trying to
make a good audio with the problems
of the room.
I hope to be there with you all at our next meeting.

Autumn colours are fading as we go into winter, but some people are like migrating birds and head for warmer climates this time of year. It doesn't matter your location… it’s all good for making video.
We need to get our cameras out and polish our skills. Mistakes will be made, but as someone once said to me, “The only people that do not make mistakes are the people who do nothing”.
If you are on the road travelling, it’s the warm campfires at night and frosty foggy mornings with a big cup of Billy Tea, that make great shots for travel videos.
If you’re like me, stuck in the city, opportunities to capture the vibrant city lights of the Sydney Vivid Lights Festival are upon us, as many parts of the city are lit up by laser light that turn buildings into sculptures!
Our mistakes will be cut in the edit suite, and as we edit, we will see where we need to improve. Editing greatly increases our awareness of what makes a good shot, and as your camera skills improve from the editing process, the editing gets easier… less things to ‘fix’ and more time to be creative.

Until then,
Happy Videoing…

Treasurer
A special thank you to Jacs Betlem for the excellent presentation at our last club meeting. As most members know, Jacs is a professional film and sound editor, and apart from demonstrating the art of "Narration - from story-telling to placement in the edit" she shared her experiences and
stories when editing for all the major TV stations in Australia and overseas, and with that, an insight to the ‘behind scenes’ details of television. Jacs has been a regular visitor to our club for many years and we look forward to her next visit in the near future. There is now only one more meeting before our club holds the Annual General election on Wednesday 13th July, at which time your present committee will stand down and the new committee elected.
As members are aware, David Tran, Max and Josie Milgate, Reinfrid Langmann and myself will not be nom-inating for any position on the incoming Management Committee although we will still remain club members.
Under the rules of our club Constitution, the Management Committee of the club shall consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, and up to five Ordinary Committee Members. Nominations of candidates for all positions on the
Management Committee will be called for at our next meeting on the 1st June, to enable the names to be published in our July newsletter prior to the annual general election. In the event of there being more nomina-tions than positions available, then a ballot shall be held at the Annual General meeting in July.
Mark Franks, Bob Hallett, Ron Potter and Trish Glossop will nominate for positions on the new committee and we encourage ALL members who feel that they would like to be involved in the planning of club meetings to consider nominating to be part of the incoming Management Committee.
A reminder also that Membership Renewals are also due on 1st July. The fees for the 2016/2017 year are as follows: - $65.00 single membership - $85.00 joint membership (husband/wife-partner)
I would like to thank members who support our club by purchasing tickets in our Lucky Member Draw which helps to cover the cost of our tea, coffee and biscuits etc. Congratulations to Maureen Tarrant and Trish Glossop - our lucky members this month.
That's all for now and I look forward to catching up with members at our next club meeting on Wednesday 1st June 2016.
A REMINDER THAT OUR JUNE MEETING HAS BEEN BROUGHT FORWARD TO WEDNESDAY 1ST JUNE. THERE WILL BE NO MEETING ON WEDNESDAY 8TH JUNE
FOR THIS MONTH ONLY, DUE TO THE UNAVAILABILITY OF OUR MEETING ROOM AT WATTLE GROVE YOUTH CENTRE.
If a member fails to renew his/her membership by 31st August, then that member shall be deemed unfinancial and shall forfeit all benefits of membership.

‘EDIUS’ User Group Report
Remember...
Make movies, make Friends.
All the best,
Reinfrid Langmann
Welcome to our June newsletter. This one is going
to be a little different due to the fact
that, as previously mentioned, we
will not have an Edius User Group
meeting in June, as the spot will be
taken over by the general club
meeting.
So our next user group meeting will be held on the
6th July at the usual place, and this time I would
like to ask you, if possible, to bring your laptop to
the meeting. I have a few clips that need the
primary colour correction, and I will bring them
with me so we can copy them for you to work with.
As I always said, “Hands-On is the best way to
learn something”.
Now for something very dear to my heart. I would
like to take this opportunity of thanking all our
sponsors over the years. They have been most
generous with gifts for our members, and I know
that most of our club members have taken
advantage of the generosity of our sponsors.
I personally have had
much pleasure in meet-
ing them, especially
Andreas Huber from
ProDAD with whom I
started up a hopefully
long lasting friendship
for years to come.
Holger Schmidt has been very helpful with some
members in getting their ProDAD programs up-and
-running.
I must not forget
Enoc Burgos from Reallusion,
when he showed
us, via the inter-
net, how to use
Crazy Talk.
And how can I forget our
personal meeting in Las Vegas
with Julie Hill from Artbeats.
Julie has arranged for our
monthly prize of a $500 worth
of Artbeats download every
month for some years, so a
great “Thank You” goes
out to them from myself
and all at the South West
Video Club.
So to close my segment, again I would like to thank
all our sponsors for their contributions over the
years.
Our sponsors are:
Julie Hill from Artbeats Myrtle Creek Oregon
USA, Jacqueline Lin from Reallusion Taipei
County Taiwan, Andreas Huber from ProDAD
Immendingen Germany, Holger Schmidt and
Uwe Wenz from ProDAD.
Some years ago
David Tran and I
met up with
Jackie Lin from
Reallusion at a
hotel in Sydney.

Have fun sharing knowledge.
Josie Milgate Editorial Officer/Librarian
I was excited to have my good friend Jacs Betlem doing another comprehensive presentation for us at our last club meeting.
With her vast experience in film and sound editing, she explained the basic requirements for Story-Telling which were summed up in Five W’s and H (Who - What – Where – When – Why and How). She demonstrated, with the aid of video clips, how to apply these principles to making Documentaries (such as Biographies, Science, Travel and Reality) as well as Drama.
At our last meeting, David Llewellyn showed several short videos in the “Show and Tell” segment. As well as taking us on a ‘hang-gliding’ flight over Stanwell Tops, he entertained us with his ‘I Don’t Want To Be Late’ video, which he created using ‘Google Earth Pro’.
At the next meeting, David will be demonstrating the workings of ‘Google Earth Pro’. Thanks David, for volunteering to share your knowledge with us.
*************************************
Bob Hallett delved into his TV archives and came up with several short clips of programmes and films in which he acted in his younger days. It was fun reliving those special moments with him.
Youthful Bob
The committee would like to thank all members for their co-operation in ‘packing up’ at the conclusion of our meetings. Your efficiency enables the venue to be locked up and ‘alarmed’ before the 10.15pm ‘deadline’,
thus avoiding substantial additional hiring costs.
*************************************
I am sure that our members will now adopt a new approach to creat-ing better videos. Thank you, Jacs.
