Election Information:

There are 15 available seats in Senate open for election. This packet will serve for the application of all open positions in the General Election. Students may only run for one position. Only paperwork submitted directly to the Elections Rules Commission in the labeled box in SLC 1500 will be recognized as received.

Election Requirements All candidates MUST attend ONE informational meeting. Times/Dates will be listed in this packet.

All candidates MUST have turned in a completed application packet that meets the minimum signature requirement for the desired position before 5:00 pm, Friday, February 12, 2016, in SLC 1500 Green Box labeled SENATE APPLICATION DROP OFF.

Student Government Requirements

Senators MUST attend Monday senate meetings (typically 5 PM – 6 PM). Some exceptions will

University of South Florida St. Petersburg Student Governmentbe made for exams and class conflicts that require late arrival/early departure. For more information about this please speak to the Senate Pro Tempore prior to application. For senate candidates to have their name of the official ballot, they must attend one General Assembly OR one senate committee meeting prior to campaign week.

Candidates MUST be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours as an undergraduate or 4 credits as a graduate degree seeking student and maintain AT LEAST an overall 2.0 GPA.

Election Schedule

Application Process: Tuesday, December 29th, 2016 – Friday, February 12th, 2016.

Approval Process: Friday, February 12th, 2016 – Monday, February 15th, 2016

NO Campaigning. Candidates will be informed of their eligibility to run via email by 5 PM Monday, February 22 2016

5 PM Monday, February 15, 2016 & 5PM Wednesday, February 17, 2016

YOU MUST ATTEND ONE MEETING BEFORE CAMPAIGNING. All candidates must attend one meeting to be eligible to run. You may be disqualified for failing to attend a Candidate meeting before campaigning. If you are unable to attend a meeting, contact the Supervisor of Elections.

Please remind students by giving their Net ID they will not receive any emails from us, but we need it to verify the names.

If you are running for the Presidential/ Vice Presidential position you must:

1. Obtain at least 200 signatures from students enrolled ONLY at USF St. Petersburg

Remember: You are only required 200 eligible signatures from USFSP students, despite additional space being provided below. All names must be verifiable and legible. Each Position must turn in a packet including at least 200 signatures, for a total of at least 400 signatures for the ticket (Presidential packet and Vice President packets may include the same names and signatures.
