As can be seen from the photographs due to limited space available in Right of Way of Road it is no feasible to widen the divider (‘U’ turn).

The newly constructed F.O.B. is at 800 mtrs away from this location; therefore, the signal has not been closed. The Pelican Signal is required at the location for safe pedestrian crossing.

By ATR from DTP was received on 17.3.09 and as per ATR the signal at Ring Road – Ms Mang hoor Raja Garden flyover is working as a Pelican Signal since large number of pedestrian cross the road at this location. On saket road which connects the press Enclave Road to MB road, there are 13 authorized tehbazaris which are carrying out different kind of trades including Paan stalls, Shoe maker ,PCO,MCD under approval from justice RC Chopra Committee constituted order of Hon’ble Supreme Court in the matter of ‘Gainda Ram Vs UOI&Ors’.Out of these 13 tehbazaris, 3 tehbazaris were running the trade of eatable and cooking was also involved. Regular actions to seize their good were carried out which are visible in the photograph. Action shall be repeated as and when required.Request letter to DCP (South) was also issued to issue

instructions to the local police officials to ensure that re-encroachment does not take place. It is planned to relocated/shift these tehbazaris sites to some other nearby areas so that no more blockage on PVR Road appears. The root cause of the problem is the commercial vehicles which make a short cut from Lal Qua, Subzi Mandi towards the our residential area Singh Sabha Road, 10 & 33 Blocks, Shakti Nagar(Behind Amba Cinema). These vehicles include trucks, Tata-407, Tempos etc. Our lives have become a hell due to the pollution and noise created by these commercial vehicles. Many complaints filed by us are still pending in the department. Specially in the evening, our children can not come out our houses due to the rush and congestion. The barricades installed by our RWA have been removed by the police as their earnings came down. This is a matter of great concern that we the residents are being ignored by the department just to satisfy their greed. Model Town –II:- I want to inform another problem related to road opposite to Queen Mary’s School, Model Town. There are three schools namely AGDAV Sreejan and Queen Mary’s School in one line situated on a road which is on the backside of Model Town and has become a bypass for trucks, buses and other vehicles to go to Karnal Bypass. For this a heavy vehicular traffic each day travels the said road in very high speed.

There are no peed breakers in front of any school neither there are any signage to show that school children may cross the road. There are two or three accidents in a week of trucks on this road.

BRT corridor crossing at Chirag-Dilli :- I would like to highlight the chaos & unsafe traffic conditions created by vehicles of so called VIP’s &VIP’s at the above crossing. These vehicles coming from Moolchand side invariably go on to the Lane meant for buses & hop & jump lanes like monkeys. While nearing the Chirag-Delhi crossing, they hop into traffic lane meant for traffic from opposite direction & again switch lane &stop in front of the Buses waiting patiently for the signal to go green. These VIP vehicles donot have the patience to wait for signal (meant for Buses ) to go green & they race into traffic when the signal for Cars goes green, there by endangering the safety of Cars etc.turning right at the Signal .This is the “modus operendi”being followed by all so called VIP’s without any regard for the safety &rules….Unfortunately there is no one to check & book them for rash driving & gross violation of traffic rules. Not only so called VIP’s are guilty of above

1. Traffic signals on road no.13A, starting from Okhla (Kalindikunj) barrage, and running between Jasola and Sarita Vihar, New Delhi are not working properly for the last one year.

2. There is a constant traffic bottleneck almost daily at the crossing of approach road to Okhla (Kalindikunj) barrage, Madanpur Khader, Jaitpur and Road no.13A.A traffic rage incident is waiting to happen .All that is required is installation of a traffic light at this crossing.

Jhilmil Colony , Vivek Vihar :- I am a student of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, DU, Jhilmil Colony, Vivek Vihar. I had a compliant to make about a certain stretch of road which is used by millions of people everyday but is in a very bad condition.This stretch of road connects the Shahdara Metro Station to my college in Jhilmil, Vivek Vihar. The road is broken, with open drains on both sides, there is no traffic management mechanism, no pavements for pedestrians. The road is being eaten by encroachments of shops and houses. There is no proper Garbage disposal system and the dustbins are overflowing. The road gets water logged during rains, and the students of our college had to face accidents many times. Its an everyday routine to have traffic jams for hours. Girls face the problem of eve-teasing, but there is no police deployment in the area.

It doesn’t feel that this area is a part of “Millenium City, Delhi”. I read about the work

60. Mansi Verma 06.11.09 Shahdara South, Kasturba Marg :- Interviewed 8 people in areas of Kasturba Marg & Jwaala Nagar of Shahdara South about various issues they face in their day-to-day life.

1. Roads -The road goes by the name of Circular Road .The roads in the area covering Shahdara, Kasturba Marg & Jwaala Nagar were last repaired 4- 5 years back. But the condition of the road shows the poor quality of materials used. People claim that the roads are usually repaired during election time. But this year that wasn’t done.The roads have potholes & small manholes & garbage remains strewn. Drainage- The drains are open & run into narrow lanes with mosquito breeding. The drain is seldom cleaned. There have been 2 dengue cases reported recently.

1. Crime Rate - The crime rate has increased to a great extent. The locals claim that many women are involved in chain snatching. A particular group called the 'Shashi Varg" are involved in many illegal & criminal activities like sale of illegal liquor, thefts, etc. Gambling is very common in the areas, groups of men gather in the common park in the afternoon & gamble till late night & get drunk, this causes a nuisance for the residents living nearby.

2.Security - People cannot depend on Police for their safety. Policemen take bribes & let the culprits scot free. People have to take their own safety measures. At times the rickshaw valas are threatened by policemen & also have to pay them to park their rickshaws near the metro stations.

3.Traffic - There are no traffic policemen, there is 1 home guard at the crossroad but is not able to control the heavy traffic. There are constant jams & hence results in accidents, this is more during the monsoons.

4.Shops & Houses - People claim that the Govt. has regularized the colony & hence none of the shops or houses are unauthorized.

5.MLAs - The MLAs visit once in 3 months. However a few people claim that the MLA is selfish & is not effective enough.

6. RWA - There is no RWA in the area.

7. Sanitation - The people of Shahdara have got accustomed to the conditions. There is water logging. People let their pigs loose & these pigs enter the garbage dumps & scatter the garbage all around. The residents dump their garbage on the roads. Some people have kept sweeper’s to collect the garbage, yet other people continue to dump the garbage on the roads. Attached some photographs.

P.S.Bakshi Road Maintenance of Vasant Kunj :- I am sorry to bring to your notice the negligence of M.C.D officer responsible for Road Maintenance of Vasant Kunj.I am residing in Vasant Kunj New Delhi Since 1989.I have notice that the road coming from Nelson Mendola road passing in front of Sector-B-10, B-11, B-8, B-7, and turning towards Central market has never been recarpetted for the last 15 years.Everytime patch work is done. Last year they started recarpetting but half of the job was done and than left.

Road going through sector-D-1, D2 towards hospital, it was dug for laying cable for hospital for almost 2 years back but never recarpetted so far. Road behind D-1-D2, Heritage School is also in very bad shape.

I am sure that on paper it must be showing the recarpetting has been done, but actually never done, this is due to corrupt officials of MCD, the job is never done. We elect

Civic amenities in Shahdara North Area: - I am taking liberty to write your good self in the hope that something will come out of the pathetic conditions we, the people of Shahdara North Area, are living in. The main problems of our area are :-

1. Roads inside the OLD YAMUNA BRIDGE is in a very bad condition.

Last time that road was made by the order of Hon'ble High Court of Delhi in 2002 by instructing all the civic authorities to pool the expenditure and make that road when all the authorities were passing the buck. IT REALLY NEEDS IMMEDIATE REPAIR/ RENOVATION.

2. Encroachment on all roads leading to OLD YAMUNA BRIDGE from EASTERN SIDE of the bridge. All the pavements on the roads leading to OLD YAMUNA BRIDGE from EASTERN SIDE are encroached upon by vendors/ khokhas and rickshaw-walas etc. Roads and pavements from every side of the OLD YAMUNA BRIDGE need repair/renovation.3. Slow moving vehicles like Cycle Rickshaws, Horse Cart (TONGA), Bullock Card (Bail garhi)

The problem of water leakage from above the OLD YAMUNA BRIDGE may be plugged that not only hinders the movement the traffic but also put the dirt on scooter/bike rider and cycle rider. Everybody want to avoid the leaking of water thus making a bottleneck at that spot itself which also hinders the traffic.

5. Encroachment on Railway Road Shahdara.

Railway Road Shahdara leading towards Shahdara Railway Station and Shahdara Metro Station is totally encroached upon by rehariwalas, khokhawalas and all the sundry fruitsellers, cyclerickshaw walas etc. which not only prevent the smooth traffic on the road but it is a disadvantage for train catchers.
