Introduction
The VT2230-M LCDTV is designed to be a part of new ViewSonic lines of LCD monitor or that optimizes for video (Analog NTSC, Digital ASTC) and data (RGB/HDMI) presentations.

Intent of This Document Intent of this document is to define the product specifications for the above-mentioned VT2230-M. For simplicity and unless otherwise specified, the word “product” thereafter refers to VT2230-M and its top assembly.
Technology The VT2230-M is derived from a RTD2910 (Realtek) reference design. This model is a 21.6 inch TFT LCD display TV/monitor. There will be a soft power switch button on the right side of the TV/monitor. This LCD monitor accepts standard analog RGB or Digital DVI (via HDMI adapter) and SYNC signal from any video controller.
The TV/monitor supports 1920 x 1080 and lower resolutions at vertical refresh rates from 50Hz-67Hz and NTSC/ATSC TV system as appropriate. Lower resolution modes can be expanded to full screen automatically or at user preference.
The result is a LCDTV product that shall meet the following specifications.

Product Definition and Specification The top-level assembly for this product shall contain:

– Wrapped in plastic bag with venting holes and “suffocation warning printing” – A removable plastic On-Screen-Protector – Assembly Mounted in foam (“Snowbox”) and with base assembly installed.
One 1.8m Black Power cable One IR Remote Control w/ 2 AAA batteries separately packed. One ViewSonic Printed Quick Setup Guide A3 sized with Graphical instruction type; localized per SKU. One ViewSonic Printed User’s Guide in A5 papers.
Since VT2230-M is intended to be a worldwide product for ViewSonic, table below further illustrates the differences in terms of its top-level assembly configurations by SKUs.

Numerous components are used for making this product. It is the integrator’s responsibility to integrate these components into this complete product. It must meet the following specification. Quality assurance / testing shall be the responsibility of the Integrator.
In addition, all exterior plastic components, screen-printed components, labels, shipping cartons, protective foam, and printed materials of this product require approval by ViewSonic prior to mass production. Bill of material, schematics, service manual and assembly drawings of this product shall also be provided in compliance with ViewSonic Service Manual, and Vendor Requirements Guide, VSCPCSMVRG1.0.
Finally, mass production of this product shall not begin until ViewSonic has issued a Mass Production Release, and any engineering changes to this product thereafter shall be approved in writing by ViewSonic.

Interface All signal connections to this product are via external connectors locating at the rear of the product. The specifications of these connectors are listed in the following table.

Front Panel Adjustment The following front panel adjustments are available for this product.
POWER switch: This switch is located on the right side of the display. It is a soft power switch and not a main disconnection device. Main disconnection shall be accomplished by physically removing the power cord from the display.
Power Indicator LED: The LED is located in the front cover of the display. It has 2 states, Blue, Orange. Blue LED: It shows the TV in the normal operation state. Orange LED: It shows the TV in standby mode.
CH +/-: Located on the right side of the display. Change Channels or navigate through OSD depending on mode.
VOL +/-: Located on the right side of the display. Change Volume or navigate through OSD depending on mode.
MENU: Located on the right side of the display. Key shall enter, exit the OSD.
Source: Shall cycle through all available sources.
Combination Keys: To update the new firmware version, a set of combination keys has been pre-defined.
View firmware version: display in Factory mode.
Factory model: Pressing “Menu” and then “1234 “key, refer to service manual for further details. Note the
password of parental control will only be able to be rested in factory.

Front Screen Artifacts
VS Standard: No Visible Streaking, Sag or Smearing artifacts when driven by the specified video cards (see 7.1 General Test Equipment) in the primary mode (VGA & 60 Hz) and after user adjustment No image drift or lose fine-tune settings due to panel temperature change.

Firmware & OSD The product firmware of VS12413-1M shall have a firmware version of V1.00 for ATV & DTV. Any changes/revisions afterward shall also be pre-approved by ViewSonic in written. For VS12413-1M, its firmware shall have a built-in frequency table for NTSC/ATSC off-air TV/CATV, and with MTS implementation.
All audio/video and other output adjustments shall be performed by using an On Screen Display (OSD) via a Remote Control Unit (RCU) in conjunction with the front panel adjustments. The following tables list the OSD functions supported by VS12413-1M.

Code Assignment Code assignments for this product are defined as follows. Refer to ViewSonic Label & Barcode, VSC_DWG_158/390 for illustration.
Model Number: All safety and compliance are under this number. All safety certificates should list the Model Number (not as “VT2230-M”) but as “VS12413-1M”. This model number must also appear on the rear label. All labels must be approved by VS in advance.
EDID Product ID:Within the monitor’s EDID Data Structure, these two bytes (Hexadecimal) are assigned as the EDID “Product ID”. This is unique to the VT2230-M only.

CN8 is IR board connector controlled way for IR board is controlled by WT6702
and RTD2910, WT6702 only controlled Power ON/OFF another signal is controlled by
RTD2901.
LED is set on IR board Power OFF : LED dark, Power ON: LED is blue light
Stand-By mode : LED is orange light which controlled by WT6702.

5.1 Function test

Before function test and alignment, each LCD TV should be run-in and warmed up for at least 30 minutes with the following conditions: 1). In room temperature; 2). With Burn In Mode1 display mode (Press “Menu” and Press “1”, “1”, “1”, “1”,
“1” to enter).
5.1.3 Test Display Modes & Pattern
5.1.3.1 ADC Adjust A. Timing: 720p(YPbPr), 800*600@60Hz(PC);B. Pattern: Color bar 100/100/0; C. Press “Menu” and Press “1”, “2”, “3”, “4” then enter the FACTORY MODE;

A. Timing: NTSC-M(AV); B. Pattern: 100% White; C. Change source to AV, set “Color Temp” to Normal, “Brightness” to MAX; D. Use the probe with Color Analyzer to aim at the center of panel; E. Check the Lv value on Color Analyzer.

5.1.3.3 Check the position of the picture displayed and phase auto adjusting (VGA MODE)
Depend on the TIMING TABLE to switch MODE in order, stay about 10 seconds MODE, it can changed and stored automatically each MODE. We can’t switch over to the next MODE until AUTO ADJUST disappears.

5.1.3.4 HDMI MODE FUNCTION TEST
A. DVI MODE: Depend on the TIMING of TIMING TABLE to check MODE in order.
B. HDMI MODE: Make sure the 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p TIMING is right.
5.1.3.4 YPbPr, S-VIDEO, AV, TVS FUNCTION TEST
A. Input YPbPr, S-VIDEO, AV, TV’s signal and check if video can present correctly or not;
B. Input NTSC air channel and NTSC CATV channel (TABLE 1 & 2) for Analog TV and Digital channel;
C. Under YPbPr MODE, Make sure the 480i, 480P, 720P, 1080i and 1080P are right.
5.1.3.5 AUDIO FUNCTION TEST
A. Audio input includes PC AUDIO IN, S-VIDEO/AV AUDIO IN and YPbPr AUDIO IN.
B. Under PC MODE, input PC AUDIO signal, checks whether the action of AUDIO IN is right.
C. Under S-VIDEO/AV MODE, input L/R AUDIO signal, checks whether the action of AUDIO IN is right.
D. Under YPbPr MODE, input L/R AUDIO signal, checks whether the action of

AUDIO IN is right. E. Under HDMI MODE, checks whether the action of AUDIO IN is right. F. AUDIO OUT FUNCTION TEST: Under all patterns, The Audio output meets
active extra speaker, examines whether the extra speaker makes the sound.
5.1.3.6 EARPHONE FUNCTION TEST
Under AUDIO signal, determines whether the action of INT SPEAKER output is right. Meets earphone with the EARPHONE, Determined whether the action of EARPHONE output is normal.
5.1.3.7 Factory Mode RESET
A. Press “Menu” and Press “1”, “2”, “3”, “4” then enter the FACTORY MODE;
B. Select” Reset” to erase all saved changes again and restores the factory defaults.

5.3 DDC Key in Procedure
1). Every time after replacing the main board, you have to do the DDC key in. If you find the DDC does not conform to the LCD TV, you have to do the DDC key in.
2). Connect POWER, HDMI and VGA cable to the TV 3). Execute the DDC programming 1). Run DDC.exe
